this is so awkward. what is the relation between these bands?! sigur rós is like the incarnation of this scared hipster island, whereas pixies are really just a band of ordinary guys that made it big. the music of these bands isn't even remotely related, though both bands indeed have something to offer. for the pixies, this seems a waste of time. however, what else is there to do when in iceland?! stay away from the volcanos and the expensive bar establishments.

I'm sorry about my comment. I don't hate the Pixies. I was having a bad day and i don't like when people compare Sigur Ros with another band (wich is not this case). I liked "Doolittle", one of the Pixies's album.

Huh? The Pixies are one of the most influential bands of the last 20 years. The main difference is that the Pixies peaked in the late 80s and Sigur Ros is peaking now. Both great bands, but the Pixies are iconic.

Sigur ros have said on many occasions that they never had any serious influences outside of their country, and even then they try to keep their music as far from other influences as possible in order to keep it original. Search online, I'm sure you won't find anywhere that they were influenced by the Pixies. They probably didn't even really know who they were, lol.
