Last gen was my favourite of all so far. The Xbox and PS2 had great graphics later in their lives, the Gamecube had some of my favourite ever games such as SSBM, Metroid Prime 1, 2 and 3 and Mario Kart Double Dash, and the Dreamcast is my single favourite console ever to be made. Last gen was so much better. And even several gens before that, they were better than this gen. This gen, it's all about making it look pretty. I agree with you entirely! This gen, you never play for hours at a time, get hooked, addicted, and have a good time! It has no story, and if it does, it's usually a bad one! So many experiences and the gameplay and style last gen was so much... better. Games these days aren't the same. MUCH respect gained, you have my subscription.

@dragonquester22 i have to disagree, at the beginning of the 7th generation of consoles, most games were all about graphical improvements and less about story and gameplay like you said (wii is another story). now that developers are settled, they are starting to make really good games, although im not saying there wasnt good games at the start of the 7th gen, because there was some that were really good (mgs4 to name a few). your really cant judge a gen in general, you know what i mean?

I'm still playing my brothers old PS1 to this day.

I actually went out and bought an Xbox(moded) from a friend for 60 bucks and I've had it for about 2 years, and He bought it when it first came out, and it still works like perfectly. My 360 still works after about 2 years, but who knows how much longer it's gonna last on me.

i honestly agree when I buy a game I judge a game based on the story or campaign the online is just an extra feature. Its sad to see people all about online and care about nothing else which just makes game developers think we need another generic shooter unlike last gen when to make a splash a new game needed innovative gameplay. When it comes to reliability Nintendo always makes that a priority. The Wii is the only console this generation that is not known for messing up. It just doesnt happen. That may be a reason why they didnt make it so powerful. The Wii is probably the most physically weakest out of all of their systems ever made. Have you seen a Gamecube damage Test? i agree with everything 100% i enjoy my Xbox1 ove my 360 a million times more and in terms of reliability its not even a contest. ive had my Xbox1 since launch day never broke. i also think that last gen games were better to, it was commited to the storyline not multiplayer. Xbox Live was a nice feature but i didnt use it that much i played and still do play games for the story and so far ive just been disappointed in this gens gaming, which is why i still use my Xbox1 way the hell more

Finally, the wii also has good graphics but the games are so hard to play, I played new super mario bros and super mario galaxy and while those games are fun, they're hard to play because you end up dying a lot. So overall, previous gen consoles > next gen consoles. Previous gen consoles each put the nail in the coffin for gaming.

Since I didnt play my 360 much and had it for 3 years, I ended up selling my system. Todays systems dont have many good games and for the games that are good, you dont seem to get much for its price. The games are expensive. To me what makes a good game is single player and graphics, not multiplayer online because they're boring and pointless. PS3 console games have great graphics and maybe good gameplay but I dont think its worth buying for an expensive pricetag.

You're completely correct. Current gen is taking an ugly form now from the advent of casual gaming. It started off well however, but soon after was absolute dog shit. Now all three companies have waggling with their Kinect, MotionPlus and Move. Remember RE4? Where was the waggle in that? How about MGS3, or Melee, or Most Wanted, or Tales of Symphonia, or FFXII? All great games. No longer available with this clot in the industry of sorts.

Lastly, the best game ever...Illusion of Gaia...SNES. Why is it the best game ever, not online does it have insanely good graphics for it's time, but the STORY is one of the best stories out of all the games I've ever played. This game was only rivaled by it's sequel, "Terranigma," which I got around to playing about 10 years after beating,"Illusion of Gaia." The story is what makes a game for me.

But HD graphics? Motion Controls? ALL GIMMICKS and gimmicks don't have staying power in the gaming world. That's the reason why new consoles keep coming out like 5 years after the last because the casual gamer needs something new and exciting to bring them back into gaming. I think the Sony Move + 3D technology could be a revolution in gaming IF DONE CORRECTLY. What I mean is, we can't keep having these crappy games that are all clones of each other. Gaming died for me with the end of the 6th generation of gaming. (PS2, Xbox, GC) Games went all the way graphically at that point and also games grew up and became a grown man's toy, so it wasn't just for kids anymore. Thus, we had games like GTA, Manhunt, Leisure Suit Larry Magna Cum Laude, (LOVE THAT GAME) The Guy Game, etc. Games most had always wanted to play but the technology wasn't good enough to deliver that or censors were too uptight about taboo content in video games.

I kinda miss playing the classic systems such as the PS1, Nintendo 64(which I own), and the NES. I remember when in super mario 64 how long i spent just trying to throw bowser at the thorned balls. That was the only way you could've defeated him back then. What I also liked about the old systems is that they never broke. My friend got his Xbox 360 and not even a month later his xbox gets the RROD. I've had my PS2 and Nintendo 64 for over 10 years now.
