I don't know what made anyone really think you could replace Chris Bernau and Beverlee McKinsey.....

Marj Dusay and Ron Raines are really good, and I like them, but I just never really could take them as "Alan" and "Alexandra". Certain people should never be replaced, as hard as that is. Would anyone want someone else to play Roger Thorpe #2? (after Michael Zaslow's death)?

This is definitely the most intense sibling relationship I've ever seen. I remember thinking that watching Alan/Alexandra back in 1984 and it is still just as compelling 25 years later.

Alexandra is using his nefarious deeds to run Alan out of town as revenge for his not helping her years ago when their father tried to break up her relationship with the father of her child.

(That's the readers digest version, in any case...)

@Dragonfly10192002 There were always this weird sexual tension between Alex and Alan. I've always wondered if it was written that way or it was just the natural chemistry between Bev and Chris.
