  • THE VERY BEST

  • The thing that always amazed me about Priest is that they NEVER f'k up live, they were always true road dawgs..;-)Priest was like comic book super heroes to me when I was young,I used to fake sick so I could stay home from school & as soon as my mom was off to work I'd break out my Priest records & spend all day tryin to learn their songs..=))

  • one of downing & tipton's finest moments. just a perfectly constructed solo.

  • @sltwentytwo - totally Agree ,this is one of their best solo's

  • how the hell people hide their cameras in 84? a video camera at that time was bigger than my head

but... thanks to that i have this video

  • Ah when Metal was at it's peak, what great memories....

  • I think this is the best rendition of this song, at least on youtube

  • Woohoo!!

  • No denying, Judas is simply the best

  • Epic Intro.

  • @urporuuna it will kick some serious asses forever, no doubt of it.

  • This guy have nice camera for a 1984 ;P

  • What are you guys on about, KK is right there at the left of the stage. He does the initial part of the solo just like on the album, and the sound he gets out of that guitar is orgasmic. Cameraman could have paid a bit more attention though

  • jwXD1 better than Metallica yes, but from Maiden, never!

AND I JUST FUCK LOVE THIS MUSIC!

  • For @godofmetal and all the metal heads out there, Rock Hard Ride Free....forever and always.

  • Comment removed

  • Rob Halford is the only man who can dance to metal

  • Where is K.K ?!?!?!?! ;(

  • oh man!!

    this is the best tune!!

    just awesome!!!

    too cool!

  • Tipton and KK are a perfect guitar duo, it's not the same without KK. The symbiosis of their solos (musically) here is matched only by the other legendary pair Murray-Smith.

  • Better than f*ckin Metallica.... And Iron maiden

  • this is mistical album

every song is disturbing in good way

  • CAN ANYBODY PLESE UPLOAD THIS SONG AS STUDIO VERSION NOT LIVE PLEASE?????

  • 3:33 what are you doin Mr. Dave Holland?!?!?!? :S

  • This is awesome! thanks for sharing : )

  • EXCELLENT this was my first Priest show...DEFENDERS TOUR...IT RULES. Kick Axe opened.

  • I think we can hear why this song was a rarity on their live-setlists...! can anyone say PITCHPROBLEMS? its equal to a fall-out of the voice..horrendous vocals on a beautiful song...!

  • @mivsenowner Yeah, pitchproblems indeed. This was when Halford was drunk as hell every night. This song is very hard to sing, especially when you're drunk XD

  • Too bad they didn't do a live album for this tour the way they did for Turbo. This was right before they went very commercial.

  • @sabbathtribute Actually, on "allmusic.com" this album is mentioned as their last quality release of their commercial phase. Commercially, British Steel and Screaming For Vengeance were their most successful records.

  • @picsordidnthappen HOW UNITS HAVE BRITISCH STEEL AND SCREAMING FOR VENGANCE SOLD?

  • the 4 people that disliked had a one night stand with Rob

  • @urporuuna is it the best or your fav JP album?

my first jp album so i dont have much to compare to,.

  • Such a great band! They deserve all they can get in term of fame and respect.

    HAIL JUDAS PRIEST!

  • Glenn's solo in this one must be one of heavy metal's all time greatest.

  • @BaptizedinFire

Nahhhh! Sorry, but I guess you change it, 'cos the first one is TT's solo and this is the real feeling/kick asses solo of metal, not the genereic of Glen...

  • @wildsouless A lot of people disagree with you K.K. They both

    kickass meathead!

  • Am I the only one that thinks that Rob's singing in the chorus sucks???

  • haha, who cares if its shit, the energy is there. If I bought an album and it sounded like that, then I'd be pissed off, but I think live stuff like that is charming.

He nailed it on one of them though @2:30

  • Are you the only dickhead in a sea of cocksuckers!?!????????

  • @adrianlazlow2352 no your not the song aint that great

  • Great show, great solos, great Halford, great everything! The best year for Heavy Metal history, 1984 :-)

  • perfect ;)

  • 1984!!! Defenders of the Faith!!!

  • I saw Priest back in 1982 with back up Coney Hatch in the Vancouver Colesium. Priest Rocks!

  • Boring audience. I'd be ripping shit up.

  • i was told that in some european countries they dont mosh, my buddy went to a few shows there and started moshing. someone was like "dude wtf you doing...watch the fucking show"

  • That's lame, lol. WTF kind of show is that? It's not an Opera :|

  • @Excalion88 Its 1984, Its Canada man.... what do you expect

  • You're right. but that's not the way it is Poland, I asure you man!

  • i know which European countries i need to visit!

  • The Gods!!!

  • this song makes me just wanna get up to the stage and do some damage........

kill all the posers..... shout it out...... all of you in here......

    ROCK HARD RIDE FREE!!!!!!!!!

  • one of the best metal songs. period.

  • is there any limit to the awesomeness or what? ..they truly are the ultimate legend of metal...

  • YES, finaly man, YES they are.

  • OMG you are so jelous hehe!!!

  • They played this when I saw them two days ago! The playing was perfect and Rob was in top form! Don't judge him on what you've seen in the latest DVD, Hhe seems to have gotten the voice back. It's probably because he stopped smoking, and been singing more diverse songs since rejoining Priest and his voice gets more of a workout. He's extremely impressive now. Although to sing the "all day, all night" he did use his lower register, but that was it. Everyone should catch a show of this tour!

  • Moondance

  • I remember seeing them with Megadeth in Oakland, for Painkiller. It sounded like the damn CD I tell ya. They are the Gods of Metal.

  • One of the best JP LP's.

    It's almost sacred!

  • This is a highly underrated JP song.... i was driving out of town .. high outta my head and listening to this with my friends in the car....

    BLISS!!!!

  • this gave me chills. I love JP and Defenders is my all time favorite

  • Hopefully, after Nostradamus, the band have learned never to take creative advice from their business manager.

  • i've never heard this live, it's amazing thanks for the vid. i love this song!

  • Compare this song play in 1984 to play now in 2008... IS THE SAME TIME, SPEED AND MYSTIC... incredible...

example song play in montreal vs song play in bogota colombia!

  • ROCK HARD RIDE FREE...ALL DAY... ALL NIGHT!!!!

Get song to listen to while riding my chopper!

  • @integral000

Get song to listen to while you do anything

  • Yeah, okay. But it's on pace to surpass many of them.I'm afraid Turbo might be their #1 album, even though I am not fond of it.For me nostra took awile to get used to,but there really is nothing like it.Classical metal:another Priest experiment.

  • It's crazy! This is their best selling album! It's another experiment, like it or not! They're just out-standing musicians. There's good tracks on this album, but not what you or I are used to.

  • from old metallaro italiano I say that the judas priest they are largest than all not c' they are a group better than immense!

  • Okay, about the last album. You don't like deal with the devil, demonizer,or hellrider?I've always enjoyed the guitars as well, besides Halford's singing. They're still packing arenas! They're old but still good.

  • You suck you narrow minded bitch!Priest has always explored new music!Persecution and Prophecy kick ass!

  • Priest has explored in the past but it was toward a goal they were musically able to achieve, with help from producers and managers to ensure only the good stuff shined through.

At this stage in their career they don't have the energy as musicians nor the "editors" to put something together as different-for-them as Nostradamus and have it be quality on the Priest level.

The narrow minded ball is in your court, what with anyone who doesn't like the new album being a "bitch" and all.

  • This so far is their #1 album, according to sales! There's plenty of energy and exploration awaiting. You'll see.

  • AWESOME!

  • kk is the shit!!!!

  • Best Heavy Metal Band Ever!!! Halford is trully Metal Gooood.

  • Yep, the best times of Priest, the best voice of Halford was from that time period( (from Screamig to Defenders ) just perfect. During the Painkiller tour he was doing strange things with his voice, like falcetto or something.

Well, Heavy Metal starts with Priest and (unfortunatley ) also ends with Priest

  • they still kick ass! and even MORE! "Ride hard, ride free" was performed accurately BETTER on Bucharest in '08 than in '84 in Montreal, Canada! For fucks sake they ARE the kings of heavy metal! "Rock Hard, Ride Free / All daaaaaaaaay all niiiiiiiight"

I can't fucking believe it ... I am 33 and waited like 20 years to see them live on stage ... they were like ... more than I ever imagined ... I really love JP! :X

  • me mueroo!!! Priest!! Priest!! Priest!!!

  • I love the metal choreography they did

    Huge piece of metal history

ps the old Montreal Forum and Montreal Canadiens Rock

  • Recheck your dates, it was recorded in 1983 and released in 1984!

  • awesome strange footage! kickass song!

  • Just came back from the Priest Gig in Huttwil Switzerland...awesome...they still rock the town!!!Wednesday night and the Priest was definitively back!

Couldn't believe they also played "Rock hard, ride free"...what a great show for such a small place in Switzerland

  • Rock hard, ride free! My absolute favorite song! Saw them yesterday, and damn, they played this song brilliant!

  • I mean didn't waste all these years*

  • Damn, I wish they didn't all those years and didn't split at all!

  • simply awesome halford = the metal god thanks 4 uploading

  • i've never seen this footage before on u tube, god i wish halford could still belt it out like this and i'm sure he does wish he could also.but we still love him!

  • Awesome live footage the way it was meant to be played from way back in the day! Hearing Glenn & KK play this one puts chills up my spine. This video captures the essence of a live Judas Priest performance. They take the opportunity to improvise and musically explore, stretching out the solo, their guitars crying out an epic tale of tragedy and sorrow like some incredible metal opera. The lyrics and mournful melody epitomize the hard and often tragic life of a hardcore rocker or outlaw biker.

  • The previous comment is for SHULDINAKO (what the heck that means, oh I know: MORON!)

  • Godamn great song!

  • me too it was awesome

  • judas priest = metal gods maiden is borring! maiden sucks judas priest are a real metal father with black sabbath... maiden and her happy metal...sucks xD! halford typton k.k ian and dave holand are the best!
  • Well you sure spell like a twatwaffle you maggot !

  • You = a fucking idiot, simply put.

    Halford = metal god

    Dickinson = kicks ass

Maiden opened for Priest back in 80's

Halford opened for Maiden in 2000.

    Both RULE the metal world.

So GO TO FUCKING DISCO HELL!!!

    p.s. LOSER%#@!&*

  • Comment removed

  • hey ....

what have you got against maiden?

  • yes, maiden rule!!! priest are great but iron maiden are also!!!

  • This is soo good. I love this song, KK's solo in it, is just from another realm. Excellent.

  • EmoSucksDonkeyDick1: Yah i think it is. I've tried so hard finding other live performances with this song in it, but quess there isn't one. =/

Anyways, excellent song along others in same -84 album. Shame "Rock hard, Ride free" wasn't played more by JP.

  • I really hope that JP will explore DOTF album on the Nostradamus tour!

  • I love 00:13

  • I can't believe you missed the beginning of KKs solo :O

  • Rob And Bruce are bloodbrothers, enough different.

  • This song reminds me of banging drumsticks on a living room chair back home to this one and listening to Metal Shop hosted by Charlie Kendall.

  • Rob halford is the best, bruce is good but halford is the realy god of metal. Great song.

  • come one is very easy.....they are metal´s God!!!!!

  • hail to the priest fans all over the world.

  • Yep. No matter what country you're from. Metal is a universal language. Put those fists in the air!

  • awesome song-should been played more live.itsa killer!

  • man when i listened defenders of the faith, wow i became a defender of this faith called rock hard ride free, this is a desire playable song!!just love this harmonies on the guitar!!

    hell yeah!!

  • To me, Defenders of the Faith is a great showcase for the range of this awesome band. You've got your fast and crazy "Freewheel Burning" and "The Sentinel" (who doesn't consider that tune a favorite?). There's the slower and powerful Love Bites and album title track. There's the melodious Night Comes Down and Rock Hard which still don't lose touch with the heaviness of the rest of this masterpiece. This has been my favorite band for 25 years. They ARE metal, period.

  • its my favourite album thats for sure

  • I wonder why "Rock Hard Ride Free" and "Jawbreaker" wasn't played more often live. Or is there live DVD covering both songs or at least other one?

  • Rock hard... and fight for your life!;) Judas Priest rules!

  • Rob has the best voice ever. Period.

  • Rob has the best voice ever and no one could make it better than him...I think all rock bands have to learn from Judas Priest they are all when talking about rock the best..no doubt

  • Hahahahahaha, Bruce dickinson isen´t even close to Halford. Halford is way better than him.

  • i don't think so

  • Then you don´t know anything about music and singing/singingtecnique ;)

  • Or maybe he's got a different opinnion than yours. I agree with yuzzer92 I love both bands and i think both singers can place in the number 1 of the metal voices. But there's no much difference between them. Both of them are great

  • Yeah, there is a big difference. I don´t think Halford could sing Dickonssons songs and I don´t think that Dickinsson can sing Halfords songs xD The only man that can sing Judas Priest, exept Halford is Tim Owens ^^

  • Yeah but i'm talking about the music style not voice. Of course they have a different voice. What i meant is tht you cannot compare them becuase they are different in the voice but their music style is the same. That's what i meant

  • the musicstyle is different too xD

  • maybe im quite strange but i dont think so both are heavy metal and both sound quite dark in their lyrics. by the way you are desperating jajaja

  • There is a big difference, yes. But Halford is the metal god and the best metal singer. Even Bruce himself would agree with that. Ozzy has already said it :P

  • halford could sing bruces songs, cuz hes the best. bruce could prolly sing lots of halfrods songs, but not all of them cuz halfords hits the highest notes, that comparable to an opera singer.why do you think theyre the both the best if they couldnt sing each others songs?

  • the highest doesn't mean the best.

  • not just the highest, fool. he has 4-octave vocal abilities. he can make sounds only dogs hear. doubting hes the best?? has he not proven to you yet about his skills as a heavy metal vocalist?!

  • well,Halford is one of my favourite singers but in my opinion he can sing only heavy mtal songs.singers likedickinson dio or defeis can sing everything

  • only heavy metal songs eh?? theres tons of covers and slow stuff he does. diamonds and rust for example- which was a cover, night comes down, before the dawn. half of his earlier work wouldnt even be classified heavy metal. hes way better than dickenson and dio, who r awesome.

  • Who is that guy? xD And and don´t think he reigns over them, haha ^^ Halford is the best metal inte the world and dickinson is the second best ^^

  • i totally agree halford is way better then dickinson

  • every fuckin rock band is learning from judas priest. they are the kings of metal.

  • A great song from the first Priest album I ever got. The guitar harmonies are fabulous. Thanks for the vid and go Habs!

  • love it hear it live...

  • questo video dei mitici judas mi ha fatto venire i brividi il migliore gruppo metal grandissimi!!!!!!!

  • Judas Priest and Iron Maiden are The Greatest heavymetal band on Earth!

  • Satan blasts thru the gates of hell in a nitro powered

    funny car

  • this is for sure best song from 84 album

    judas are so awsome

  • i love the tone on defenders

  • thats the amazing sound of a marhsall jcm 800 2203!

  • Defenders is my favorite Priest album. Thanks for posting so many clips from this awesome show:-)

  • the best judas priest solos are on defenders of the faith album

  • The dueling guitars are just classic, such a well written metal song.

  • mercenary betalians!!!

  • You're the man Evil Aggression.

  • Impresionante... KK toca la raja... ese solo de esos años eran para explotar la cabeza de una!!!

Que tiempos aquellos... Grande Judas Priest!

  • The Sentinel and Love Bites are better though IMO.

  • mmmmmmmmm for me, only the sentinel is better, but I'm agree rock hard ride free is one of the best songs of judas priest.

  • Aww you can't discredit Jawbreaker or Freewheel Burning! :)

  • FUCKIN AWESOME ! LONG LIVE THE PRIEST !

  • Great, one of my fav. songs!

  • 0-o?????? WOW!!!!!! AWESOME!!!, THIS SONG IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES, I NEVER TOUGHT I COULD WATCH IT LIVE, THANKS!!!!! 5 STARS, NO, 5000 STARS.

  • that's my favorite!! why they didn't play it when I went to their concert? :(

    thanks for posting
