@batfly Unlike other animals in captivity, these docile creatures can not, perhaps due to stress or trauma, copulate in captivity. As long as they are caged or not in their natural environment, they can not produce offspring resulting in the dwindling and ultimate decimation of their population if people continue to keep them as 'pets' for their own pleasure.

slow lorises are nocturnal - the one in the video is really really confused and startled because they're not conditioned to be awake in daylight. it's grabbing the umbrella because it can't actually see that well in the light and in it's natural habitat it would expect to have branches, etc around it to grab onto... but jesus christ that thing is cute.

@delagrazia What humans may perceive to be 'happy behaviour' may not be the case for other animals. I heard that slow loris are so submissive/passive that they will take punishment without struggle. They may be suffering in silence and we wouldn't know it.

@deceptant sure Many birds die in captivity as well Even ppl can die of broken heart If they can live in the wild noone should take them home and thats valid for all animals Is just that i believe an unhappy animal can be more or less recognised although might not be very obvious So i was wondering if they are unhappy in captivity or the mating habits are disturbed but i guess you wouldnt know Maybe We could know that by counting length of life and if they stay healthy in captivity

Please, people do not look at these videos and think its OK to own Slow Loris and other wild animals. They are not meant to be kept as pets, let them be in the wilds. These animals are not being bred, they are stolen from their habitats. All you are doing is encouraging poachers to further ravage their already abysmally low numbers. All so you could feel good about having some cute, exotic property.

By what right are these animals captured from the wild, have their teeth pulled, exposed to bright light while they are nocturnal? They are meant to live and breed in their natural habitat not in captivity. They are not domestic animals like cats and dogs. I agree they are so cute but that does not give us the right to capture them. They are better left in the wild.

it may be true that they can live longer with people..BUT they definitely have serious problems having babies in civilized areas. Which is exactly why their numbers are declining. The people selling them, not only pull their teeth out, or cut them(and yes this def does affect how well they can eat food after that..) But they give you the impression that these guys are totally fine living with people..they aren't. They are dying out by people bothering them at all. STOP PLEASE.

With all due respect the Loris should live in its natural habitat. ..its a wild amimal. The video of the loris with the umbrella is just terrible, the loris had a head injury and thought the umbrella was bamboo from their natural habitat. It kept shutting its eyes coz of the bright lights, sad!

whats the difference between having this animal or a dog? both are wild animals. Both dont naturally live in a house and sleep in a bed. both dont naturally get food put in front of them. An animal is an animal. If you want a pet, and you treat it right, and make sure you care for it the way it needs to be cared for, it shouldnt matter what animal it is

slow lorises are nocturnal - the one in the video is really really confused and startled because they're not conditioned to be awake in daylight. it's grabbing the umbrella because it can't actually see that well in the light and in it's natural habitat it would expect to have branches, etc around it to grab onto... but jesus christ that thing is cute.

whoever agrees with this pet trade is stupid and ignorant.
these animals will be hunted until there are none left in the wild. As they don't breed in captivity, once the "pet" loris's die out these animals will be extinct its as simple as that its just fact.
If you honestly believe these animals are not being harmed please watch the video on here, (youtube-search-slow loris abuse) you are not saving them you are wiping them out and exposing them to horrific abuse.

@fairygirl7867 go to youtube-slow loris abuse its a 4 min video of a baby loris having its teeth pulled out. the only way to obtain a loris is for it to be poached from the wild. they remove the teeth to make it "safe" they very rarely breed in captivity and no respected zoo or breeder would give them away as a pet they have very complex needs. they sleep all day because they are nocturnal, therefore shouldnt be disturbed through the day

@SporterBorder I have a slow loris, they are ok pets, not hard to take care of as long as you have a cage for them. you can't really let them out as they are wild, so i keep them in the cage for most of the day. and you don't make sense, how am i making them extinct? i have 6 of them, and they are alive, so i am actually saving the species.

You commenters are quick to assume that this animal is not being taken care of in a zoo. There are such thing as vet hospitals in zoo grounds, you know, and it kind of looks that way from what little we can see (but we can't be completely sure).
