I agree about that "sadness" comment. There's this huge, monumental sadness in this song that's hard to replicate in more mainstream metal. They're not that similar to Liturgy, but I sort of get the same feeling from United Nations. Really dark and just really fucking sad.
@jakersisyoutubing then what is metal ? or is it just not metal for you ? cause were you the one to fucking make up the genre ? who are you to say what type of music is what and what isn't
@deadfiend1 by that logic I could say Justin Beiber is metal and noone could dispute it. This dude gets on a mic and cries like a biatch and people say,"Oh it's so deep." Fuck that. It's not heavy. It's not impressive. It's not metal.
@jakersisyoutubing wow I just said that there is many metal genres not just one, and so if its not impressive to you I guess the whole world has to stop listening it. Just because you the "metal know it all" knows everything about metal. Say if you did knew anything about metal or music in general, that not all music sound the same. That is the thing cool about music , thats why there is thing called "genres". But I guess you wouldn't understand that.
Its ok, still its a bit too pretentious for me. The Scandanavian vibe is somewhat darker sounding then this. But still this is not bad. If you like this drumming you should try out Nazxul.
I actually think this is really good...screw genres and labels and shit...
This song kind of has like a crushing sadness to it that I can't describe. I usually don't like screaming but it works here for some reason, it adds to that emotion.
Wow.. This is likely the worst thing I've ever heard. This isnt even a composition. Watch the live version, they're just spamming random notes and you chumps eat it up.
The only reason the guys in the band call it black metal is because thats what they where influenced by, It may not be black metal 'i think of it as post black much in the same way joy division are post punk' but its still cool these guys are doing their own thing. Their really just a far more melodic version of wolves in the throne room.
What a bunch of random bullshit music. No wonder they need gimmicks to be able to sell this crap. This is NOT black metal, it's indie music played by people who secretly hate black metal.
@BaronEvola then this is really "evil" black metal because it goes against the code of what you piously feel black metal is supposed to sound like. if you mean evil as in satan or something, that is just immature conformity, certainly not evil. u dogmatic metalheads make me laugh.
@deadsea3 I wish more people would get this through their panda faced mongoloid heads. Having a boner for norway and spikes and cold weather all the time is going to make people who make it a cause to go after a band like this look like people who still listen to hair metal unironically today.

Deeper than any scandinavian black metal band

@579461sf Hahaha, absolutely not. It doesn't get much deeper than Emperor. This is just unoriginal flutter-picking in a major instead of a minor key.

@deadsea3 We try. Homosexuality is the true transcendence. That and children's television programs.
