I'm from Portugal, and unfortunately, I don't have any cicadas near the place I live. Even though you used an anti-wind protection on your micro, it's still possible to hear some of it, which is very good, the cicada's sound plus the wind's. You did an excellent job :). It reminds me of France, when I went there, "cigales" were everywhere, it's was just astonishing!
Dear Alexandre. Where are you from? Thanks very much for your comment. The sound was OK but not perfect because of a relatively strong wind that one can hear despite the use of an anti-wind protection on the microphone (a tubular Audio-Technica microphone). Image and sound was recorded in a natural setting at a distance of about 2 meters from the Cicada. Of course I used a tripod and did some computerized zooming. The camera was an XH-A1 and I just used iMovie for the mounting.
Excellent video! Isn't it fascinating how the cicadas move their abdomens when they make their sound?
