Wow! This is a great pack. Even though it doesn't look durable as the atmos, it is, and its a great pack. It also worked really well for school camps. Some people prefer the Atmos, others prefer the Kestrel. Different packs feel different on different people. I was going to get an Atmos, but it didn't feel nearly as nice! Also, loving the lifetime warranty on normal wear n' tear!
if you have kids, this company has a contest for them. they write their best backpacking trip ever and submit it and can win packs. their packs are the best made and the service is even better. check out the web site. i have the 65 atmos and its the best pack made in my eyes and i own many others as well.
It's between this and the Gregory for me. Both are top-quality & material. This has more loops, pockets & gadgets - easier to use, pack and access. The Gregory is more bomb-proof & has a better suspension system. . . .
Osprey are the best packs in the world. I have been living out of a pack on and off for the better part of the last twenty years. Quality and construction are spot on and the pack fit and carry is beyond its years. When somebody on the trail asks me how I like my Osprey I simply reply, its impossibly perfect. Ali
Hope it comes in a different color scheme. The orange is fine, but that gray is just ugly enough to make me think twice... as it seems like it would become filthy quick.
Other than that, wow... really read my mind, and went beyond that. A slightly thicker waist belt seems like it would be worth the weight though, but I guess I need to try it out and see.
Only other thing I'd like to see on an Osprey is easy access to a bladder, and maybe an ingenious day pack that doubles as the lid pocket.

the angled side mesh pockets for the water bottle storage/access is an excellent idea.

this is the only color scheme. i think that below the lid, there is an easy-access bladder pocket.
