  • "you steal 1000 post it notes at 12p you made........profit." lol, amazing

  • I like the US version but I'm Australian

  • I like the US version but I'm Australians

  • the problem with comedy in america is that it has to be over-the-top obvious for it to be successful. one of the main differences between the two "offices" is the uk version's subtly makes it hilarious. and before you jump all over this comment, i am american.

  • I don't even want to wach American version as I know I'd feel sorry and ashamed for the guys. I'm sure they're nice guys and good actors, but...

  • @mraak You might be surprised. The first three seasons strike a nice balance between the extremely nuanced and intelligent humor of the British version and the rather stupid humor found after, say, season 4 of the American version. If you love the British version, you might want to give at least the first two seasons a shot - season 1 because it's short and most similar in tone to the UK version, and season 2 because it's when they really hit their stride. Just my two cents! :)

  • His embarrassed look at 1. 50'' at the "joke" backfiring is perfection ! :)

  • The U.S version copied a scene just like this one.

  • you wanker. lol

  • i hate steve carell in the office (USA) he sounds like an idiot and in the original the office ricky gervais as david brent plays a way better part than the american man

  • omfg gervais face at 1:51 just kills me every time

  • The Larry Sanders Show is a cut above both these and not surprising Gervais is a big fan.

  • How do you get to watch this version?

  • I am glad there is two versions so more people will enjoy the show.

  • i think you should all get a fucking grip of yourselves, who gives a shit what anyones thinks of the respective versions. As long as its funny.

  • is the uk office still going?

  • "You steal a thousand post-it notes at 12p, and you've made.... profit."

  • I like both versions, but I will say that the English humor is far funnier than American humor.

  • the american version is not even funny I watched it and was like wtf it was so boringggg

  • The UK office and US office are very different.. they just almost share the same name.. thats it :)

  • Ricky Gervais is awesome =D

As an actor here and as a writer in the other version

He is a writer for this one too, right?

  • WANKER!

  • Ooooowww ...so embarrassingly, cringey....hehe, I could feel Dawn's pain, pity David is such a plonker in this dept' , but to pull at your emotions like this, is ..... British humour at its best !! (classic, without equal!)

  • The American office is an absolute tragedy. It is a poorly replicated copy of the original British classic.

  • @rvic11 you could say that bout the first season, but the subsequent seasons were way different from the UK version. They are both good in different ways..can't say the same bout season 6 though

  • i think we americans just don't understand half of what ur saying and that's why we don't get the jokes, lol

  • stupid Americunts coming here and spewing shit

  • @WKaliberr lol

  • wow....not too funny

  • Ive seen the american and the british one and i gotta say i enjoy the american one too. i like the actors much better

  • The difference between the two shows are the same difference as you find between american and british offices'.

  • The german version of the office is better than this

  • I think we should just stop trying to compare both Office versions. I like both versions which is why I find those arguments pointless.

  • @JohnPizzaPan I like both too, but I dont think you should try and stop people from comparing them. I think you should encourage it. It shows that people really love the shows, and if you dont like seeing it you should look at something else. No offence(as I know by now you are easily offended :P)

  • I understand that the american version has more charisma which is fair enough. But the idea behind the british one is just to show how boring it is when you're working in an office. Especially if you're working for an egotistical manager who's quite the hypocritical type. I prefer the Uk version being a brit myself because I think it's more real to life. One of my workmates at my job sort of acts like ricky gervais from this and I do indeed tell him that lol.

  • @matt2house who wants to watch what an actual office is like

  • this uk vs us stuff really is tiresome and...quite sad!

  • @rickrenny How is it sad? Shows that there is a rich and dedicated fan base.

  • @MsMarc1234 cos it drones on forever clogging up the comments. at the end of the day, whatever u like, good for you...but at the end of the day, it's your opinion, that does't make it right, that's why. british version is better though :)

  • @rickrenny Let's just stop being douchebags about it. Your message started off good but then you became ignorant like half the people that actually comment on there. Let's just agree to disagree.

  • LMAO

i need to watch more of this... anyone know where i can watch full episodes

i know im lyk 5 years behind everyone else

  • @KYZA699 i think they have all the episodes from season 1 and 2 on youtube, im sure i watched them on here before

  • It's funny how they're all just sitting in the middle of the room with no tables or anything haha

  • Americans will never understand this because they dont have the intellect. Here in New Zealand the British version is legendary, it has gone down in history as one of the greats. The cheap American version only played for a few weeks and was pulled, everyone hated it.

  • wow i didn't realize that some scenes from the uk were almost directly translated to the US version! personally, i prefer the american version because i think it's more lighthearted- steve carell is always smiling even when he's being an idiot. the serious faces all the time just make me feel awkward, so it's not really for me. but thats probably just because i'm an american and we like things to be all happy-go-lucky all the time so i appreciate this show, i just prefer the US version :]

  • @xfromdream2dream thats a cool comment, i think the british version tries to portray an office environment as being boring, and people working there to be misserable, its obviously not the case for every office, probbly hardly any offices, its just they way ricky wrote it! doesnt mean brits are not happy and light hearted too! but different tastes for different countries, its all good

  • @norfolkpeps The British version is heavily inspired by The Royle Family in that it's about characters in a negative situation and humor arising indirectly from that. Even the "sad" vocal ending music is an idea taken from Royle. The USA version is much more closely based on US comedy standards. (And the US version is written by a huge committee, yes Gervais is on it but he's not "the writer" any more)

  • @hyphz yes i know that, hes only wrote the pilots and one or two other episodes, hes a producer and the creater

  • I''ve checked the comments on the U.S. Office, and I don't see any arguments starting there. Yet I come here and I see fights everywhere. I'm American, and I found both funny. Sure I think the U.S. one is funny: it's cruder, simpler, I always like that. But the way the British present comedy is hilarious as well; I loved the end bit there. If you're gonna watch the video, you might as well enjoy it: if you don't, it's fine, but don't hate on the vid because you don't like it.

  • I nearly bit my tongue off watching this scene.

  • Both versions are great. In my view, the only better thing about the US version is that it has more personality and charisma

  • uk society is similar to this series. Everybody is stone faced and confused no matter how much you try to joke with them and its worse with the miserable weather also which does not help

  • I think the office is the only show from the UK remade by us Americans that didn't suck.

  • @WsDeRedeemer theres lots of shows that originated from the uk that the usa remade, like american idol, who wants to be a millionaire, the weakest link, deal or no deal, just to name a few and theres lots more too! just because you or a few people dont like them, it doesnt mean others dont like them

  • I never said other people didn't like them. I simply stated my opinion.

I am aware of other shows that were remade in the US but from what I've seen, only a couple are as good as the original.

  • I enjoy the U.S. Office more , but to each his own. For the UK version, I'd probably have to be in a particular mood, it's more of a dry acting and the camera quality's kinda crap. Not really much matter tho, it's all for entertainment, so ppl who try to take it beyond that are imbeciles. Cool to have options.

  • @llouldeng the camera quality in the uk version isnt crap, its supposed to portray a novice, low budget documentry filmed by an amature team making a cheap documentry about the daily life in an office environment for a paper company! its filmed to look amaturish if thats a work, the usa version is more.... perfectly finished and everything is spot on, which isnt how the uk version was supposed to be, theyre both different for different audiences, both written by gervais, but its all good

  • Being an American, I think it's just stupid how everybody's arguing over which version is better. They're both equally funny, you just have to look at them both from a different perspective.

  • wayy better than the american and im american

  • The english Office are more subtle, more sophisticated and have more credibillity. And Gervais became even better in Extras imo.

The US one is abit to tooney, it repeats it self ( how often are Jim going to look tellingly into the camera?) and Carrel continued in Evan Almighty and Date Nights.

Americans *does* have Larry David though..

  • @manimalfully I agree with you, I am a huge USA Office fan, and I don't find the UK version quite as funny. Perhaps the difference in slang makes it hard for me to understand certain jokes since I'm from Canada.

  • Is it wrong to say I only watch the office (uk) because Ricky is such a ham. I just want to pour honey glaze all over him and lick him. hehe

  • @citizenlen my mum told me there were weird people on the internet

  • too bad ricky gervais now caters to AMERICA, since USA > britain

  • @manimalfully well its a shame that the stuff his done for america is the shittest hes done. britain >america. QUALITY>QUANTITY

  • @ps3sucksassballs well it's a shame that you brits have no choice but to delude yourself as nobody cares about you in the world. usa = centre of the world. face it dude, or as you'd say in britain, 'mate'

  • @manimalfully HURR DURR LOOK AT ME EVERYONE I'M BEING RACIST ON THE INTERNET

  • @manimalfully I bet you lot actually believe geographically that you are at the centre of the earth. Should really be in the Centre of the Earth

  • @manimalfully lol yes americans are loved the world over arent they!! yeh right! brits and americans are viewed in a similar way around the world, due to british colonisation and world dominance 60 plus years ago, and american power today! its just the way the world is

  • @manimalfully

    Delusional ? Delusional ?

USA are Masters of The Artform!

Take your "Sports" and PLEASE DO take them!

    "Football" which should be "Throwball"....

Baseball which is like Rounders we used to play when we were 8 years old with Girls and best of all.....

DRUM ROLL PLEASE MAESTRO....The WORLD Series of Baseball which only YOU play!

.....and you call us "delusional" lol

  • @Isleofskye football is a shortened name of 'rugby football' which was made for people who wanted to use their hands while playing soccer. My guess is the world series is called the world series because the MLB is the pinnacle of the sport where players from the countries that do play it strive to make it to. I guess if you take the best players from the world, regardless of its only 3-10 countries that play it, you can call it the WS. I like most all sports so Im biased.

  • @harveydeadman

You seem like a really level-headed, decent Guy so thanks for your reply.

English Football derives its name from "Association Football" though, not Rugby Football, an entirely different Sport as you probably know.

    Good Luck.

  • @harveydeadman 'Football' originally comes from 'Association football' ie soccer as you call it, the original football. Rugby football (rugby) was so-called to differentiate it from Association football (football). American football is based on rugby football.

  • At least the British are better at football. Not by much though :)

  • you steal a thousand post-it notes at 12p, you've made.............profit.

    the man is a legend!

  • Ricky Gervais is perfection, look at his body language and facial expression as he says "stealing...thieving" everything from the tinted neck to the little shoulder lift.

    UK version >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> US version.

  • Poor girl, she suffers so much abuse at the hands of that egomaniac, macho motherfucker, feel really bad for all the women in real life in her place.

  • This reminded me... I have a DVD of this show in the shelf that i haven't watched yet. And I'm home alone... coffee on the kettle... nothing on the telly - I'm going to watch that DVD tonight!

  • I don't get it... I feel so much empathy for the girl is maybe why.

    WTF Post-it-notes?

  • "Oh ah, that was a joke there." :P

  • Good girl...

  • the US 'office' used almost the exact same bit, you guys should see it to compare if you wish. that sort of confirms my theory about subtlety being the key difference between American and British versions of the office. its not the script that's vastly different, it's the acting. for Americans who don't like the UK version, try watching a few more clips, once I got the hang of the accent, i realized it was still funny for the same reasons, just harder to notice

  • stealing.... theifing

  • Whatever

  • @DoodleAt782 I'd be more than welcome if you guys could stop this useless fight between the US and UK version of the show.

Anyone posting anything regarding this topic again again and it'll be deleted.

  • I wasn't fighting with anyone, I was stating my opinion, I never put anyone down, insulted anyone's point of view, or made fun of the video, so I don't see why you're getting worked up.

  • @DoodleAt782 I know it wasn't offensive or anything else but that's typically the kind of innocent statement that would start another argument.

  • i think they are both hilarious, im american and i find this ridiculously funny

  • Having said that I genuinely think the British one is better. I watched the American one and laughed moderately, but with the British one I laughed HARD.

  • @philipjterry We can't laugh at the British version because we can't really understand the words through the accent. At least I can't. But one really funny american show would be It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

  • @BlackofMouth And also the great "Curb Your Enthusiasm" with Larry David.

  • @BlackofMouth ...fek of then u cunt

  • @geforcefx666 hahaha okay, ye bloody wanka

  • @BlackofMouth I don't understand that, I'm neither American nor British and still i understand both languages. Maybe it just takes some time to get used to but in the end it will pay off. British comedy is in my opinion something unique you shouldn't withhold yourself from.

  • @vollublevolar Couldn't agree more. I myself am not british nor american and english isn't my native language but I can still understand both and have a good laugh.

  • @BlackofMouth when do you mean we can't.....who's we?

  • I love Ricky Gervais ^-^ and i like both versions of the office...i don't know why people have to fight about it...it's pathetic

  • idc what u stupid brits say the american 1 ia wayyyyyyy better, its probly just the diffrence n country humour but rs is better!!! angus thongs and perfect snogging??? gayest movie ever!!! but i looove ricky gervais!!!!

  • If you were British you would say the British one is better... Or prove me otherwise by explaining why with a good reason the American one is better. Humans are such bias shallow creatures. Take an unbiased view.

  • I think Americans like the US office because they relate and recognise his type more. The British relate to the British one for the same reasons

  • Oh and by the way, if u think US is stealing ideas from UK version, it's cuz it's made and produced and stuff by the same people.

  • I'm from America. I like UK and US version. I do have to say I like US version a little better because michael Scott makes everything more awkward, and it's more laugh out loud. But wether ur from US or UK, I think we could all agree that if Russia made the office after Americas was done, it would suck ass.

  • Glad the U.K. and American soldiers get along better on the battle field than you guys do on the net.

  • wow, just watched the entire UK office series in a weekend, and i think altogether it's superior to the US version. but steve carrell n rain wilson are great on the american version. tim and dawn are FAR SUPERIOR to jim and pam. jim and pam are so boring, they should have gotten actors to be more like tim and dawn...

  • honestly i dont know why everybodys gettin so mad at the us version. I like it. But i think they should be more origonal and come up with there own sutff

  • @soccerX1000 they? i think you will find ricky gervais writes and produces the usa version too!

  • you wankah!!! lol

  • I love how Americans come on here saying the UK version is shit.. have you seen American humour? Friends... Joey gets his head stuck in a turkey and the audience laugh themselves to death.. yeah, real intelligent stuff. If you don't like it, you obviously want something more slapstick like the american one.. but stick to that one, and stop coming here polluting these great vids.

  • @laswap1 Here Here.

  • @laswap1 oh bud.. there is no comparison between american and british commedy, british stuff like this killls american commedy. american commedy is easier to get into for most probably. but british stuff is bldy brrilliant!

    from a Canadian!

  • @laswap1Interesting. You compare a show like the Office to a show like Friends and then have the balls to have a dig at American intelligence? You do realise that Gervais frequently cites American comedy as his inspiration for his style of comedy and comedy writing? Oh, and before you start, I'm British and prefer the UK version also. Oh, regarding your Joey point: Del Boy falls through a bar - an ENTIRE nation pisses itself - oh, but we're still SOOO much more "intelligent" aren't we!?!

  • @lt08219 You can't really compare that scene with Del Boy to the Joey/turkey scene. OFAH was funny because of the build up and the timing. I see your point though mate. This argument is getting boring now, both series are different and good in their own way.

  • @lt08219 the del boy falling through the bar is funny because he was leaning there before, and went to lean there again not knowing the barman had opened the counter! he got up quicker than he went down and its something realistic that can happen, and he tried to act as nothing had happened! what are the chances of getting your head stuck in a turkey?

  • @laswap1 Also, Mr. Bean already previously did that gag.

  • @laswap1 Friends sucked balls that’s not the only American sitcom. Go watch Seinfeld and Arrested development those are the real American shows. This is just not that funny but Americans and brits have different styles of humor and a lot of it deals with our culture. And Rainn Wilson aka Dwight on the American office is so much funnier than anyone you can get on this show.

  • @laswap1 Not to be a jerk, since I agree, but I think they must have got that idea from Mr. Bean ;) But I do agree that most American people are unappreciative of British humor.

  • @laswap1 well said mate, couldnt agree with you more

  • @laswap1 amen to that

  • @laswap1 bravo!!!

  • @laswap1 Hey whats wrong with getting your head stuck in a turkey Mr Bean did and it was funny as fuck!

  • 04fergs: The Office is made in the UK...sold to the ÙS

  • @spiffen WAS made in the UK, owned by Rickey Gervais, TAKEN to the USA

  • one of my favourite office scenes. painful to watch, brents reaction is so genuine

  • I have never seen british Office, is the US one just a rip off? Cause I swear I've seen this exact scene on the american version. Is there a Dwight Schrute in the british versiona as well? :D

  • the US followed the story of the UK one for the first two series, this episode is the first one and practically the same script is used in the US first episode

  • yeah they all have different names. The uk office is the original version - like all good british programmes they get remade (in my opinion made worse) by the american versions.

  • u steal a thousand post-it notes at 12p, you made...... profit :)))

  • gervais and merchant geniously perpetuate circumstances that we all go through at some point in our lives and drag them out to their arbituary ends... which is why so many people cringe (and dont get it!) the us office is also hilarious.. different type of comedy for a different audience. like gervais said, british and american offices are very different...

  • i squirmed.

  • Practical jokes for the good...

  • ricky gervais produces the american version for god sake. there is no clean cut difference between the humours of different countries. American humour just prefers to be a tad more in your face (much like the early humour of britain e.g.monty python) and british humour is alot more dry, sarcastic and mellow. But i laugh to american humour and i'm british. so.. i guess im the spanner in your complex

  • TypicalEnglish and Communist Leprechaun.

Two dudes who have brains commenting on the same page. I love both you guys.

your comments are so absolutely Spot On!

  • you wanker

  • god this makes you cringe...

  • End of the day the idea was written by two British guys... and it's in countries all over the world!

  • I don't understand why people can't just accept that they are both good for most people. There is no universal better show, to some people the British version is better and to others the American version is better. If someone doesn't agree with your opinion opinion that one is shit and the other is great, that doesn't make them wrong, it simply means they have a different opinion for you. Christ, people argue over such petty things.

  • for a communist leprechaun, your all right

  • I LOVE YOU COMMYLRPRECHAUN

For gods sake youre absolutely right

  • Look, anyone trying to argue whether or not the British or American versions are better than one another aren't considering all the facts. There is a French, Canadian, and German version and even a version made in Chile. The American version has been on for 5 seasons (over 100 episodes) and has a 6th coming soon. The British version only ran for 2 seasons with 12 episodes. It might be 'funnier' but the American version reaches a much wider audience.

  • the americans stole EVERYTHING from our orignal, there is an episode exactly like this

  • How dumber could you get. All pilots in any versions of The Office are the same and then it goes into different directions.

  • Exactly John. Exactly. I lvoe the people out here saying one is so much better than the other when the Jokes for nearly 2 seasons are identical....

Thanks for the clip my friend. I love the bbc version and the American version. I Luagh out loud at both, great stuff, great stuff.

  • Jokes can be the same, it's all about how you tell it

  • stole??? . . . i think gervais is making a good deal of money off the american version . . .

  • "stealing...thieving."

    "thieving?!"

    "yeah..."

    LOLOL

  • Don't you have networks that show their own shows? NBC thought it was a funny concept & wanted to make an American version of the show. Why is that odd? Tell you what, Ricky Jervais is laughing all the way to the bank. I'd take all bets that he has made tons more money off the US version. They have shown the UK version on Public Television here.

  • have you seen the size of america compared to britain mate? god you americans are so fucking thick

  • What is your problem? You ethnocentrist. You are just nasty, and couldn't be bothered to actually think and make a sensible comment. What has size got to do with anything? Idiot.

  • life on mars has been copied as well.

  • Do you notice that after he says, "that's a joke there" that the first people he looks at is the camera people?Everything is about himself before the camers. He's won the lotery for having camera that follow him. He finally has his own show. . .like Michael. To hurt a person like this, doing it because he wants to impress a young man. . . pathetic. And Indie, are you so stupid that you don't remember you are on an American site? And the english language origionated in Germanic origions moron.

  • LIke Michael, he doesn't know he's a sad little man as she says. He only knows he's done something wrong because he looks at the temp. LIke Michael a man without a conscience. Viscious but he thinks he's a mentor and the temp will see his genius. Such good actors that it's hard to watch. Impresive writers that could think something like this up. The American Office is a copy cat but this one deserves the kudos.

  • Whoever came up with the "I declare bankruptcy!" bit wins.

  • "You steal 1000 postik notes as 12p and you've made........profit." Gervais is a genius :)

  • has to be one of the best comedy sketches ever....'investment in people'!!!..

  • im pretty sure the american version is word for word of this

  • The US episode you're talking about was the pilot for that series - I think Gervais/Merchant wanted to see how it would be received before tweaking it for American audiences.

  • Dear me! You're so irritating just because you Americans don't understand British humour.

That's why the Americans had to write their own version of The Office because they're so cooped up with their own nationality and boring basic humour. Just remember where the English language initially originated from. You can be seen as the uneducated one because you can't calibrate English humour into your sad mind. Fortunately I can base such judgment because how well cultured I am.

  • Let's pass your gem of a comment around Britain and see if they want you acting as ambassador of the English language. Your sentence structure, choice of words, errors, fuzzy thinking all add up to an artless piece of writing. You even threw in a bit of gratuitous hubris. Just dreadful.

  • Notice douchebag where it says I come from (Y).

  • Notice douchebag that there is no reference to where you are from. And what is "it" anyway?

  • You are an idiot who speaks of things of which you know nothing. Have you seen the American version? If not, you have no business making baseless comments, and show yourself as the fool you are.

American humor is stupid? You are just sad.

Nothing in the history of American TV is dumber than Benny Hill. Or Are You Being Served?

  • "got your bible on you ricky?" great line.

  • HAH! I love his reaction to her crying :D

  • I'm from Europe, not a native english speaker and I love english comedy. But how stupid do you have to be to record an american version when this is already in english!?!

  • Comment removed

  • no one likes canadians, that has nothing to do with American intolerance.

  • Spasquatch, u said of "The Office,"

  • trust me, its not 4 you. your IQ is to low.

  • more believable????....wow. just wow.

  • Brilliant actors ... Brits, the only actors that look like they're not acting! Also see The Royales!

  • I'll definitely check that out. Thanks for the advice.

  • Just noticed I spelt it wrong

    The Royle Family

    Search that ... and enjoy
