INCREDIBLE VIDEO... you sir have convinced me to buy actually a 305 instead of a SAStudio :P thats the sound that rings in my mind :O Thanks for this beautiful video!! :3
"Overpriced" is people's way of saying they can't afford it, Obviously every thing of top quality regardless of brand costs more. Especially if it is custom or hand built.
Oh I know how they are made, however I can get a Gibson that sounds just as good for much less, it may not be as pretty, but it will sound just as good. I had a PRS custom 24 years ago, and it was nice, but not really worth the money. I hate to say it, but the LE models that PRS makes sound damn near identical as thier over priced cousins when they are set up right, and they are a quarter of the price. I can buy a Gibson Les Paul DC with a nice flametop for half the money of a similar PRS..
They're actually pretty comparable in price. They both make decent in the 2000-3000 up price range. I wouldn't say one was more pricey than the other. I suppose Gibson offers more low-end guitars, like the studio and stuff.
I whole heartedly disagree. I guess that's the nature of opinions. The "SE" models even set up perfectly are no where near as good as the USA made PRS guitars for me. I feel the quality difference the minute I pick it up. Sound is subjective of course but the korean models feel cheap.
A comparable GIbson to a PRS are often even more expensive. The reissue series is consistently more expensive. Guitars are overpriced. A decent guitar costs way too much IMO.
@johnny4freedom They're made by hand. Thatll always bump the price up, if you watched the PRS factory demo and realised what went into making a PRS you'd know.
It would be silly to discuss the "bright top end" of the narrow-fields w/o also reminding everyone how much difference maple versus rosewood fretboard makes. Not saying this is a bad comparison here, but that's DEFINITELY a factor that should be taken int account when comparing the two.
And if memory serves, ash is supposed to be brighter than alder too, isn't it.?. I have no real experience w/ ash~shrug~

@Wezzcott watch the 2 part factory tour, you'll understand why they cost the way they do.

I would prefer the Single Coil one because of that 100% single coil tone! The other is cool too but I just prefer the SC one!

Is that an Express 5:25 or 5:50?

@bchamorro He says it's a 5:25....

Nice comparison, much higher output and sounding like a humbucker. Still won't replace a single coil but it's cool.
