so, please don't criticize people of denying their heritage. you can probably find some videos of gem speaking mandarin if you really want to hear her speak mandarin.

she's a hong kong-based singer, not taiwan or mainland china, so why can't she speak fully in cantonese? many hk people can't even speak their ancestors' dialect anymore...gem can speak mandarin, but not speaking it doesn't mean she's denying she's from shanghai. plus, this is a cantonese album, so of course she can talk about it in cantonese.
