My father says the way to bring excitement back to F1 is to bring back the fear factor and that the risk of death and a return to the advancement of F1 cars from 1994 onward without FIA restrictions.
@mdlerd My question is just why we can't have cars that push their drivers to the limit? Top-level drivers demand top-level cars: cars that make drivers feel confident enough to be brave and overtake.
We need faster circuits with longer straights and sharp corners that promote overtaking and aggressive driving from competitive drivers. No "new" tech or sweeping engine changes are going to fix that.
Simplify the rules and maybe we'd get back to eras like this except without the bodycount.
After Senna died F1 lost its balls. Measures too extreme were introduced to "slow" the cars down and even Spa installed a chicane leading into Eau the following year. The cars now are so horrendous looking and the skill involved to pilot an F1 - though still remarkable - is commonplace.
What are you talking about. McLaren have in recent years at least been far more abused by the FIA than Ferrari. Ferrari are F1's babies.
That extra brake was, as stattotheblade said, not cheating. It was exactly like the double diffuser row. How can it be deemed as traction control? It was like a motorbike in the sense that the front and rear brakes could be controlled independently by the driver, giving him more control. It was a very smart idea, and that was its downfall.
Actually the rear brake was never deemed illegal for the races it was used. The claim Ferrari made was the same that those without double diffusers made at the start of this year. After the 1st round of the championship the FIA said no team could use the second brake system not because it was illegal in the first race but it gave a significant advantage to those who could use it. So technically Mclaren never cheated, they were just too clever.
I suppose you are russian or polish to know the response; they sound very similar for us latin mother languages. And often eastern countries confuse italian with spanish... Anyway thanks you. I don't understand the words but i like this video!
So russian and polish don't belong in the same language family? I thought they were related languages, but I can't be very sure when it comes to countries that belonged in the former soviet union.
Oh, sorry. I better revise history then.:P I got confused, probably cuz it's been 7 years since I last read about this part of history. But I knew that Canada is not part of the USA.
Nevertheless, Polish and Russian both belong to the Balto-Slavic branch of the Indo-European language family, so yeah, they are related, for anyone who wishes to know.
Yeah, sure! The same as with Swedish and German. Both belong in the Germanic branch but it doesn't mean if I knew one of them, I'd understand the other too.
No One? You mean, except for the two Turn Marshals killed? Besides, Senna died AFTER F1 made them run NARROWER tires than the year before to "slow them down". I guess DEAD is about as slow as you can get.
what year did all the cars have to have the two wings sticking up from each side of the car?

The drivers are on average better then they where in 1994.
The grid was stuffed with pay drivers and poor team/crappy cars in 94.
The first chicanes and major modifications to the tracks where made starting with the 1970s, 1994 was just the final nail in the coffin.
