If there is an instrument that is utterly futile to try and compare brands it's the electronic organ. As amazingly versatile as the Hammond tone wheel organ is it's not the be all and end all of organs. I love my Hammond, but it can't sound like my personal favorite- a Wurlitzer 4500 ( a 4300 is identical internally , but a spinet version, the 4502 is the theater version, but it too is identical internally). Buy one if you see one, U won't regret it. Watch my 2 posts- John La Duca 4500/4502/4300
actually i think the black keys are shorter on your new-er one and the white keys are a bit fatter on the new one too adding to the visual distortion.
"This one here - is my favorite. I was actually very lucky to get it." It's a lovely organ. "It's the best thing I've ever bought." Congratulations. "And it's a real treasure." I'm sure. "Look at it! It's never even been gigged." Uh-huh? "It just looks exquisite." Yep. "Look at the whiteness of those keys!" Alright, I get it. "It's very, very rare to come across a Vox Continental with the keys that white!" Grrrr! I wan't that fucking thing!
Hey, thanks for posting this, & I'm sure you're putting your Continental to good use. Consider yourself a lucky, privileged man to have 2 of these things, & the talent to play them! If I'd get something with decent money in it I'd get in touch & ask you to accept some work, whether in Dublin or London. I'd love to have a Connie, but I'm a songwriter & guitarist, not really an organist, & I have a 4-octave Yamaha with a Connie facsimile sound. I wish you, with your new Connie, all the very best
fuck you and the hwitnesh oof yohr hwite keys. You don't like your new organ? Then why the fuck did ya buy it! Now go give it back to someone who would never have a chance of even seeing such instrument, because it just does NOT EXIST in his part of Europe. Like to me, man.
@qba5775 Quit bitching because someone has something you want. That's primary school bullshit and makes you look a jealous fool. Just admire the fucking organ.

hey guys, my dad has talked about having one of these suckers for quite a while...though he says all of the C's are out tune. anyone know how to tune these, is it possible for me to do it without screwing anything up too badly?
I bought one of these in April 1964; however, it was an even earlier model than the ones shown here. There were knobs rather than rocker switches for the vibrato and power; they had ridges for your thumb, and were moved horizontally. I used it for 7 years on stage and in the studio, and finally traded it in when it became impossible to tune. I don't really miss it; I have my Trinity, Triton, and M3. I'm happy. .
Hey man, thanks for this tour through this rare instrument. Those of us who have to live with synth patches of the beast now have a better idea of how to get a little closer.
And as for the B3 vs. Vox argument - they're both awesome, each for their own thing. I wish I had both!
Yeah, this organ would prabably hold up against a hammond in anglo rock, but in gospel this would be a joke... hammond all the way. I love the tone though.
All jacks are the same size (well, not mini jacks), But a bass amp, are made for bass, and low tones, but it would work. But agian, a normal amp would be better!
thanks for all the help! one more question if you wouldnt mind, what is the volume pedal for? see, im looking on ebay for a continental and am saving up for one, and one advertises that it includes the volume pedal. whats it do?
To regulate the volume you have to use the last 2 drawbar ("flute" and "reed" tone) which regulate the overall harmonic filtering of the sound. If you set both at the same position you can use them as a volume knob

I would have to agree, but I would like a Vox or Farfisa. The Hammond is indeed an electric organ(tone wheels). However the Vox is an electronic organ(solid-state transistorised).
The Vox should not be considered a 'toy', it's certainly got its place in classic rock music. Played by The Animals, The Doors, The Beatles, The Monkees, Elvis Costello and Madness, to name some. A defining sound of the 60s.
Both the Hammond and Vox are classic organs in their own rights, and both have an awesome sound.

Thanks for posting it.
The Vox continental was the defining sound of the 60's rock music.
Quite revolutionary for it's size and sound.
Fabulous is an understatement.
The later built Italian built Vox's had keys that stick,, so musicians went onto different brand instruments.
Parts are available from Vintage Vibes BTW.
