This is sentai, it's been around longer than Power Rangers since the 70's in Japan, the power rangers are basically American adaptations of the Japanese shows.

actually, "smartass" Powerrangers is the american adaptation of original japanese shows, they buy copyrights out of Japan, costumes and part of the filmed content, replacing most of it with American crap. and THAT was is already in early 90's

@xtokumaru Liveman Soundtrack contains a henshin BGM that sounded exactly like this one... both soundtracks were composed by Tatsumi Yano.

@arthuraz Interesting... I had already noticed similarities between the soundtracks of both series. I believe that the first episode of Liveman has a BGM (the first time the mechas appear, I think) that sounds exactly like the one that plays everytime Change Robo slices a monster with the Dengeki Sword.
