no shit, nice bike,in awesome condition, sounds spooky and smooth,if i had one like that it would run forever, like my old Izh bike does :) love to take care of old bikes, and drive them :)
Does anyone know how hard it would be to remove the front fairing and guages to completely clean the front end up? I love the look of this bike but the front fairing kills it for me. I am stuck in between two choices. i am thinking of getting this bike and remiving all the funt shit and clean it up. OR a getting a Honda CB750 and turning it into a cafe racer. what does everyone think?
That's sweet. I have a 1985 vf500f Honda Interceptor and it runs great! I just wish i could find some parts for it to make it look a little cleaner. I'm looking for a tale, front fearing and a windshield. I've looked on ebay and cant seem to find anything. Can anyone recommend a good source?
A fantastic Bike ruined by too short development time. This Bikes reputation for running Camshafts is legend.A Mate of mine now dead R.I.P Thommo had three sets of cams in his 1985 vf 750.
nice bike guys,i like couse it's on a good condition and the owner love this Honda model,i love it ! i have a Kawasaki gpz 750 1983 model in good shape so i know what i'm talking about!
Thats a great looking bike... A friend of mine has an 84 hes wanting to sell for $1800, I hope he still has it in a few weeks when I get my tax return so I can finally have my first bike
nice bike i have a 1986 interceptor 500 that runs great but just sits in my garage with 4400 miles on it i just need to get my license my mom gave it to me for my 20th birthday last month
Heck no, don't delete this! This shows everyone what a well-maintained motorcycle should look like and sound like. Not to mention showing some of the things new buyers might want to pay attention to when purchasing. Nice looking bike!
VFR Interceptors are so tits! I have a 1987 with 33000 miles on it and it still runs great in spite of the fact that it was abused like shit by the previous owner!! Not to mention, they are fast as shit for being as old as they are.
ive got a uk model(gold wheels) which is being restored at the mo. its got 9k on and its been stored for 18 yrs and its looking mint...last time it was out was the TT in 91..
G´What a nice bike. I am hopefully soon an owner of this kind of bike too.
But I heard that there was somne problems with this engine running it by low RPM. Oile to the cams. The bike that I am looking for is is same color as yours.
Who cares about the lights? How many miles are on the odometer? When were the brakes last done? How about the wheel bearings? The fork seals? How often was the oil changed and what brand and grade of oil was used? Is the clutch good? The bike sounds fine, and it looks good.
Hi Bullettube, I am the guy who bought this bike. You say you took your old one to 58k miles. Can you tell me what kind and grade of oil you used as I am chewing up camshafts and rockers. Thks
Number one:check the oil pressure, oil is pumped to the cams and if the pump is bad there is no lube. I used Hondaline 10w-40 oil, it was available and fairly inexpensive by the case. Changed every 2,000 miles or so. Castrol and Kendal both make a good 10w-40 oil as well.
It's still hard to believe that this bike is more then 20 years old! The first perimeter frame, sealed roller chain, full fairing etc. The bike was balanced for racing or driving to work every day. It was dead reliable, mine had over 58k when I sold it and I regret that sale to this day.
excellent condition but the tank decal says vfr. its not a vfr its a vf...I have the big brother too it...a 84 v65 vf1100 sabre...these are great bikes run forever..i hit 130 to 150 daily on mine with small alterations...check out my videos a few clips of the bike...nice to see more around...
I hited 205 km with a passenger on with this beast. And once burned a ducati monster on the green. But too heavy and a big problem for manutention. The tank tends to oxydate if empty.however saved my ass twice.

Woow I had the same bike in Toronto back then.'85 Interceptor, same color. Brought it almost like brand new with 3000 km and sold at 29000.
I heard rumours about the lubrication problems, but I toke the chance, and never has any problems with it.
The cure was I think: high rpm most of the time :))
-- Great bike, 'wish I had one.

First bike I ever owned, mine ate through cams like they were candy aswell.
Ended up selling it and building a 1988 GSX-R 7/11 : ) The VF rode well but could get a bit twitchy with the 16incher at the front.

That v4 did eat cams. great bike.

The reason so many communities are outlawing motorcycles is because of the noise factor. In my own town they want to limit riding after 9pm!
Bullettube 4 years ago
My comment wasn't a slag on the Interceptor, just the exhaust. TOO QUIET!

I believe the first perimeter frame was the 83 Yam FJ1100.. ironically designed by an Italian, Tamburini.

Honda's V-4 sound the best, but only when stock exhaust is replaced. My Magna roars 'n screams like a crazy bitch.

Cripes, I had over 58,000 miles on my 700 after nine years and my bike didn't smoke like that after starting.
Either he's burning crap gas or it's colder then I think.
Who cares if the lights work, show me the dip stick with oil on it.
Bullettube 4 years ago
It's called condensation. Blue smoke indicates oil consumption.
TheToekutter 4 years ago
Yes condensation, it must have been a cool morning.
My friend corrected me and said my 700 did smoke when it was cold. I just didn't remember or my memory is biased!
