  • I really am ashamed of coming from Coventry.

  • Lets face it. Coventry is a fucking shit hole full of so much shit. The teens here are always sad because apparently coventry is known for its knife crime, violence, murfer, break ins and criminal offences. BULLSHIT, FUCK YOUUUU. COME TO FUCKING LONDON AND SEE THE REAL KNIFE CRIME AND SHIT. Dont get me wrong im not saying thats something to be proud of, im just saying im not proud, infact im embarresed to live in such a shit place

  • Why has the nail care got a mask on

  • @GeraldineMcK because the acrylic dust that comes off when they buff them is dangerous to inhale

  • C'mon Germans, finish what you started!

  • @Lukege15 shut up you fucking prick!

  • @Lukege15 your out of order and sick.

  • @liverpoolno14eva And you live in the Gates of Hell. What would you know?

You better stay away from the internet, it's full of jokes and sarcasm... Oooooh scary! Don't want you having to run off to you mum crying.

  • @Lukege15 yeah i laugh at jokes and quite almost all bad ones but wishing people dead is a different matter. snm

  • @liverpoolno14eva Tee hee, it's obvious you're not a genius... like me.

So, you have to ask yourself: Do you really want to argue with me over how shit Coventry is? I live there, and you defending it is rather quite offensive; well do you punk?

    I will make you burn.

  • @Lukege15 so now you want to burn your own people? your more of a cock than i thought and by the way its not an argument to see who wins you idiot i was just saying that there was no need for your comment. i cba anyway...........

  • @liverpoolno14eva Learn. To. Read.

'Burn' is an internet expression for fuck's sake.

    Oh, also: Learn. To. Write.

Where do you go to school? A cow farm?

  • @Lukege15 internet expression bla bla bla your a boring 'correction' geek and i dont have to write correctly im not in a fucking exam, you are boring goodbye.....

  • @Lukege15 look.. just leave it now i have alot to worry about at the moment rather than argue on here. i was just a bit shocked with what you said thats all. im a nice lad i just got angry and to be fair i cant be arsed to keep replying lol

  • @liverpoolno14eva Alright dude, I'm just messing.

Sorry if I offended you, good luck with everything.

  • coventry market is one of the most depressing places you could ever really visit in the town

the other day, 20 seconds after i walked in there, I heard a shopkeeper calling a parent a "fucking disgrace" because the parent had slapped her kid

  • the simpsons are going to coventry

  • @RichyWorld87 God help them.

  • come on cov

  • it stinks of fish n raw meat and yeah haha they cleaned the floor haha? plus it is crap

  • fuck me, in some ways i love my town, but this kind of shit makes me ashamed of coventry.

  • @BlackDollarBills Its better than the BBC North east musical, type it in.

  • They.. they cleaned the floor in the Market???? That's a first.

  • I love Cov

  • This has 15,977 views.

Lest it stay that way, or god help us all. Who wrote these lyrics, a gimp?

  • excellent fun, well done all involved: A gentle laugh and a sense of community.....

Shame about the remarks from a few cynical sados and cool victims.

  • How cheesy!!! lol

  • Interesting idea but it does sound like an Allied Carpets advert. Music is very run of the mill. It could have been better.

  • Comment removed

  • This is SHIT

  • Hi Uncle Lesley (playing the mouth organ / harminoca) !!!

  • It looks like it was shot by someone who normally does adverts for Allied Carpets. If PoundStretcher had an advertising budget, this is what they'd get for their money.

  • i live in cov

    this is a great video

i cant believe bbc are doing this

  • This is mental

  • brings back allot of childhood memories watching this. Remember a typical weeked shopping on Cov market then off to the Circular caff for lunch :-)

  • hi my Grandad made and drowe the plands for the markit and his name was Ken Bradley and im Howard Farren-Bradley and my mum ust live in coventry and it best city in the worls love video the best one on youtube

  • And Watford Gap The Musical will knock this into a cocked hat!

  • Comment removed

  • the quite big girls in my form at school :P

  • This is brilliant, It shows everything that's fab ( and not so good) about Coventry, funny!!!

  • Heh. I love this. Only sulking cynical chumps could fail to like it. It's smartly put together, characterfully performed and charming. Ace.

  • fantastic!

  • coventry is the best I LIVE THERE!

  • What bollocks. Ha.

The place stinks of dirty potatoes, bet they had to pick up all the used needles before filming !

  • Just, wow.

Cov market makes Manchester look like a paradise.

  • Brings back some Memories, my father used to work as night watchman here back in the late sixties, and a friends father had a stall. We used to come in on sundays and cycle round when it was empty. Also under the market there is a similar layout of "tunnels" great fun when your only 8 years old!

  • Oh my gosh - can't believe I'm watching this (from cov)

  • all kinds of old shite, cov market!!

  • sombody make a live show please!!! andrew lloyd webber sort it out!!!

    COV!!!!

  • yeah that fish market is colourful to say the least

  • omg how imbarrasing

  • lol. cov <3

  • i cant even watch to the end of this

  • hahahahahahah what a joke.

i dont think iv seen ANYONE in this video in cov

  • How embarrasing!

  • Im from Cov to :),this video makes me LOL xD

  • nicee one! im from cov (Y)

  • omg, just noticed...

    that roundabout, tis still there!

    lmao. wow.

  • Coventry isnt that great, cheap makeup and witch stalls, kinda scary stuff too.

im from cov, not that great.

Didnt even know there was a musical! Lmao.

The Markets crap. But fareplay to those random workers. Lmao

  • did anyone notice that bloke who plays the guitar and sings outside the 99p shop on ere cuz i did

  • ye i did

  • Now I've never been to Coventry, but this musical makes it seem like a great place, top notch stuff :P

  • its good thing you haven't been then

  • Is it serious? I really hope so!

  • The funniest thing Ive watched in a long long time. Im in tears.hahaha

  • Im from coventry and this is a fucking shambles!!! WTF

  • @ccfcgardy haha your rite the market is crap

  • LOL

  • I enjoyed it. Something good out of Coventry, showing some decent ordinary people.

  • :P Enjoyably silly.

    I liked it

  • I hope this is one big joke. There is very little that is great about Coventry, let alone Coventry market.

That bike shop constantly paraded in the video does not have in stock what you want at any time whatsoever, the whole place stinks of fish and the aisles are constantly blocked by slow, obnoxious, fat or chavvy people.

Next, I suppose, there will be a musical about the wonders of Wood End...

  • Ha ha, Funny as F**k

  • is that the antony holder i know at 2.27, goes bluecoat school 10b miss astells form..... i think it is

  • CHRISTMAS NO 1???

  • Sky Blue Army :)

It's people like this what beat the Germans

  • Nathan

  • The only good person in this is the man that appears in 1.12 with his guitar, the one you can see playing in the city centre quite often. 1.47 someone is very out of tune and the bloke in the dinner jacket at 1.50 looks a lot like Mick Hucknall.

  • 0ooh, and i was at the first showing down the city centre, the place was packed and everybody went crazy when it came on, so much so it had to be played again :D

  • Poomon99 ease up, These gies worked realy hard on the musical, if you think you can do better i beg you to try, you write your own song and make a vidio for it, upload it on here and lets see what you can offour, Fantastic musical gies, nothing to be ashamed of, everybody i know loved it and that includes me. nice job cov

  • This is possibly one of the worst things ever. And not just on TV.

The BBC commissioned this??? I bet they're really ashamed now lol.

P.S What idiot would get tattooed at Cov market?

  • also y is every one old n wight or an ethinc minority

  • my god

this is just a discrace 2 tha city

  • this is a gud vid n song. well done coventry

  • I had the pleasure of helping with the filming of this project for the BBC and as well as it being a brilliant concept it was a fantastic experience. Thank you S,B and A for letting me work with you i'll never forget it xXx

  • I love this! I didn't think I would but it's great. Congratulations Coventry and well done BBC Coventry and Warwickshire.

  • makes me proud to be from coventry....*cringes with embarrasment* COV RULES!!

  • Interesting take on the market. Good work of making a musical on something you wouldnt imagine!

Coventry as a whole isn't that bad, I've lived here my whole 22 years on this earth. The History is pretty great (Lets face it, who doesnt at least know the name 'Lady Godiva' or the term 'Peeping Tom'!) but it depends what you're used to, a few years ago it was aweful for its chav youth, but its much improved these days! Its not TERRIBLE and its not Creme-de-la-crem but it's a nice city nonetheless.

  • I'm from Brazil and I live in coventry for two years now and I loved the video..it was really well done.

    Congratulaions everyone

  • I grew up in Nuneaton and Coventry but now i live in the capital, i've laughed at Cov alot in the past but i've realised that i miss the sodding place. Compared to London it's heaven the people are generally polite, with old fashioned home grown manners, there is a great sense of community and the council are trying to Rejuvenate it whilst keeping a strong hold on it's heratige. Rock on Coventry this video is damn right hilarious and i will be coming home for a visit very soon!

  • I'm sorry that sounds far to Sentimental what i meant to say was, that rug dude is quite clearly a diva and deserves his own tv show, also rock on guy who opened it, me thinks someone is better than all the X-factor people put together

  • Hi Captain Fantastic I agree with your comments could you get me some bookings,I am the rug dude

  • if you truely are the rug dude, then you sir have my full respect!

  • brilliant. this may literally be the best piece of film-making i have EVER seen

  • Beautiful. Really beautiful. Makes me proud to have visited it. I'm glad the ol' fella won his rug lady.

  • this film made my computer smell of cheese. stay well clear of it.

  • This is another innovative and highly original Benjamin Till production. Check out some of his other works on You Tube.

  • Brilliant,Brilliant, Brilliant, what a great bit of fun to celebrate 50 years of an iconic building thats been at the heart of our wonderful city for so long, i've lived in Coventry my whole life and am proud of this place, all you people who write about how much you hate it here why don't you do us all a favour and move away, its ppl like yourselves that hold our great city back...way up sky blues...

  • i live in cov and i hate it

so no im not judgeing it on the video,

also, i would like to thank "whittle" for commenting, i would gladly bet that coventry hates me and tbh i dont give a shit

  • Lol how long have u lived here for? I've been here a couple of years and I've been worse places I suppose...

  • I am American and I love this video! Very entertaining with real people and very well written! And great job Karl! :)

  • Is this the same Karl I know?

    1:05 ?

  • KARL!!!! woop!

    lol

    ;)

  • This is a funny (obviously on purpose I am sure!)video and a lovely celebration of a fun and important place for Coventry. I don't understand the mentality of the idiots who waste their time putting negative comments on here...BBC C&W is certainly not for people like you...there is Big Brother and other rubbish radio stations for people who don't get community, creativity and history. I'm not from Cov originally but over the last 10 years I've met some amazing people and I'm happy to live here!

  • I'm from Coventry and love it, but this is really bad! There is a reason BBC Cov & Warwick is not listened to..and the 'editor/producer' is not in TV. It doesn't show we are diverse, it depicts that we live in a 'special' town...dear lord!

  • Wonderful characters well done Coventry

  • Such togetherness! A really happy 5 minutes - would recommend to anyone as instant stress relief. Shine on, Ben!

  • haha

    Coventry Rocks.

    WE LOVE YOU KARL!

  • Lmao, yeh it smells of fish, coz there a fish stall u idiot. How does Cov lie in the video?! If ppl wanna make a film to celebrate something, let them, they doing no harm, ur not being forced to watch it are you. some of the older ppl in coventry have been through a lot with the bombings in the war, so a small video on youtube isnt going to kill anyone! Im from coventry, and yeh the ppl frm cov who make the tele arent always the sharpest tool in the box, but dnt judge coventry on a 5 min video!

  • What a ridiculous comment..I'd like to bet that most of Coventry would hate you too. Grow up.

  • Honestly, it was more fun that I thought it would be! Happy birthday Coventry market! Polacco from Leamington Spa

  • Coventry is the pride of the Midlands

  • Happy birthday to Coventry Market! Nice video and song. Well done to Sophie!! Best wishes from all in Charleville, Ireland

  • Oh Dear!! :(

  • A vintage Ben Till production! Let's think of more fabulous community spaces for this man to make musicals about - how about Brighton Beach next? (By the way, I love the rug-sweethearts).

  • Nice one Ben. Class! Love it mate.

  • Well done, Benjamin! You've done it again - bonkers but beautiful x

  • Lovely community piece and set in an interesting historical perspective. My grandparents lived through the bombings in Coventry in 1940, and I liked the positive treatment of the rebuilding of the city around a new kind of market.

  • OF COURSE it's going to benefit trade for Coventry Market! Don't you see this is a wonderful, refreshing way to celebrate individual trading? If Sainsbury's made a musical it'd never be like this. Think of the awful homogenised Halifax adverts. It's the homespun, authentic community charm of this that is so great, and precisely the kind of uncorporate thing the BBC should be doing a bit more of. Real people made this and you'd have to be blind to see how much it brims with their sincere pride.

  • 2:28 my friend :)

    Anthony holder woop woop

    well done everyone

  • I am not personally attacking the people involved I simply think that BBC money especially during hard ecconomic times could be better spent. It could have been much better, thats not attacking the people but the production. That aside if the production results in Coventry Market gaining more trade as a result I am pleasantly proved wrong and I shall take my words back. I wish you well.

  • I can see where you're coming from, but I think it's good that the BBC are promoting community issues and events. I can say personally (as a City girl), that before I heard about this musical, I didn't realise how many cool stores they had now - it's not just fruit and veg - they've an american imports store, eastern foods (the Nong Shim Cup Noodles so hard to get hold of), plus loads more. So yes, I've shopped there 10 times more than I did, and so have the people I've mentioned it to :-)

  • Congratulations to Siobhan who gave birth to two things this year - the beautiful Matilda and this FABULOUS musical!!!! If only more people across the country would take a leaf from Coventry's book and be proud enough of their city to come together as a community and sing and dance about it - wouldn't the UK be a happier place! Well done all - you look like you had a wonderful time, if this doesn't make the cynics smile - then nothing will. H, B & M x x x

  • oh i do appologise how 'embarrassing',

and no i didnt wet my self, it makes me 'wet'. trust i do have a sense of humour i found this hilariouse! so hilariouse it made me WET!

  • Sounds like a wet excuse to me !!!Glad you have a sense of humour !I found the stories behind this made me cry so I too got wet ! Try to get help with spelling before you go public again. You lose credibility and I am sure that is not your intention .Very glad you are not incontinent!!!

  • X Factor eat your heart out...this is the real deal...well done all!!!!!

  • Hmm, I must remember to ask her about her saxophoning next time I'm buying some computery stuff. Having said that I'd prefer it if they just replaced all the people with some sort of machine and then everyone could just stay at home :) I mean what if I just wanted to buy a pair of frilly knicks and they started singing about it ??!

  • xmasssssssss number one here we come. This is fantastic. Thankyou Ben for making coventry colourful.

    Karl

  • BRILLIANT! Bought a smile to my face (and memories of being dragged around the market as a small child)! The guy who runs the cobblers and key cutters is a lovely bloke. I'd recommend him to anyone who needs their boots reheeling! ;)

  • love this... nice work all! such a feelgood piece...

  • This is fab!

It might not be "normal" to be singing and dancing in the market isles but if you dont get it youd better come and have a look at the special place that is coventry market.

A big thanks to the people who made this happen and what a laugh to share with the world.

Spread a little coventry market fun.

    brian

  • i do worry about this country

  • I want to say a big thank you to the people of Cov for cheering me up over the last 6 months.

Coventry people are the nicest people in the world. Fact!

Thank you, thank you, thank you...

    Benjamin

  • The people on the bikes and at the bike shop are my cousins!!! they own the bike shop!!! Well done and the girl in the checked top about 11 is in my form!!!!

  • Well done to everyone involved. You've done us all proud. God bless Coventry indeed!

  • this makes me wet

    *embaressing*

  • So sorry you wet yourself! It must be almost as bad as not being able to spell embarrassing ! AND as bad as having not having a sense of fun !!

  • I think i just pissed myself!

    god bless coventry!

  • i just passed out from laughing

    PASSED OUT!

    "and jamaican bread!"

  • Brilliant job - well done to everyone one involved! Nat Wint

  • wooo

  • It was so much fun being part of a musical film. You might make judgements about who was involved but i can tell you that eveyone involved was genuine, kind and a pleasure to spend time with

  • Honestly, it was more fun then i thought it would be, and a great thing to be part of especially because the market just reminds me of being little and going on the roundabout.

    Thank you benjamin!

  • Compared to the Cov. Kid on Big Brother who done the City no credit at all this looked like great fun without a swear word in earshot. well done to all concerned

  • What a wonderfully cheerful and optimistic film. Well done to all involved. If we all concentrated on the positive aspects of life, instead of dwelling on the negative, the country would be a much happier place. I loved the musical!

  • Happy birthday Coventry market!:-)

  • This is hilarious!!!

    Lighten up everyone! ;o)

  • its slightly cring-worthy but come on, it was a bit of fun for the locals to celebrate their town market, its humourous and cheesy, but fun - get a sense of humour and laugh along with the rest of us!!!!
