I get junk emails from this gallery 2-3 time a day asking if I would like to have a show. You pay for the space and the gallery is widely known as a joke. When she has a work in a major gallery then I will be impressed.
I think I may have missed out...My son produced some exceptional art works at the age of 2...If I would have known there were buyers out there, I'd have held an exhibit of my own....
to repeat what some of you have said....beauty is in the eye of the beholder...she's an adorable little girl, her parents know how to position her "skills" and build a nest egg for her...and why not?!
Guys.. this is abstract expressionism. Do your research. I've seen just a plain old snow shovel in a gallery before, and that was the art. And yes, @impreza182, art is sometimes bullshit. But isn't it intriguing how a 4 year old made you feel so angry? That's what art is all about.
This Is crap.Art is EMOTION. Art is EXPRESSION.Art is of the HEART and MIND tied to the SOUL.Art comes from every FEELING in your LIFE.Aleita is a four-year old without a care in the world, art is not about money, it's about giving the world what you have to offer, and she has no desire for that.I am 11 and my cousin is an artist as I desire to become.I paint my emotions, thoughts, worries, and life into a canvas.Aleita smears paint and glues random things to it.You can't make art; you find it.
It is unfortunate that the skeptics are not seeing this for what it really is..Self-Expression...since when was this relegated to only adults? My 4 yr old son loves to paint draw and wants to display his art too! He takes it seriously! If I had the money, I would support her..she will get to do what she loves and be successful at it, and all we can hope for is that when she gets older she will put her riches to good use.
@nldb123 Self-expression is fine, but people shouldn't be wasting resources on a child running around in a tutu splattering paint on things when there are far more important things we should be concerned with. I suppose it's a bit hypocritical of me to say seeing as plenty of people waste money all the time, but at least they waste money on semi-practical things and not thousands on some nice looking kindergarten projects.
It's thought provoking and controversial! I think that is what a lot of art IS about, but the controversy wasn't anything the child intended. I've always thought the best abstract art represents an emotional landscape. It makes me question if a four year old can create an "emotional landscape" without emotional maturity. Maybe "style" is more important to some than meaning or depth. Art prodigies make me think of the quote, "The soul is born old, but grows young" -Oscar Wilde.
here is my problem with this. art is the expression of something. for example painting of a scenery is the expression of that scenery. Life is only considered art if you believe that something created us as an expression of something greater(what ever you belive that to be),ect. This is a four year old. she doesn't have the ABSTRACT level of thinking to express anything in an ABSTRACT way. she isn't expressing anything, therefor, it is not an expression, and is there for not art. just me tho
Proof; if we needed it; that ALL critics are scum who steal a living.
As for the 'art' itself, it's only the critics and the deluded who see anything special in this childs work, undoubtedly better than many of her peers, but it's just a kid messing about, nothing mindblowing, no profound insight, just manipulating the gullible into pating with their money.
'Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist when we grow up.' @joeyblondewolf3 The woman says its ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISM ! i call bullshit ! i'm majoring in arthistory and design, but from what i have learned ALL of the ARTISTS who paint abstract/expressionism paintings are also a very very talented painters, they can also paint realistic not only throwing paint on a canvas what it is what this girl is basicly doing, she does not know wtf composition is or even the colorring, she's just a girl with parents who are to RICH. sorry for spelling, Holland here
Her work is good, unique, but i doubt it was done entirely by herself. She had to have had some kind of guidance or adults to help her. I feel like any little kid could have done this with the right guidance..
I could drink a Crayola smoothie and vomit onto a canvas, and what would I get? Absolutely nothing! But, NOOOO, because it's a 4 year old who took some paint and splashed it on the canvas and it looks abstract, well, she gets 27,000 dollars and her own ART SHOW. What the hell is wrong with society?
Some of you are being really stupid. Not any four year old can do that stuff....hell not even most adults can do those "nonsense splatters". Go ahead, I dare you to make your own garbage abstract piece, it wont be so easy. Rather the true argument would be about why some humans are willing to place value on what they consider beautiful. I myself find her work beautiful and would totally pay the gallery a visit If I could. Now would I ever pay money for it? Hell no, not even for a master's work.
I think she is a wonderful little girl and her parents should encourage her to do this if it is something she enjoys. The paintings don't look too bad (i've seen worse in art galleries). With that being said; would I purchase one of her works? Hell no.
I love reading all these "arts majors" comments. They're all just jealous they can't afford to put up a show because they're paintings won't sell enough.
some of her painting are really good. I don't know the story behind ... she was trying to tell us...I think i'll wait One or two years and ask her again :) but seriously, she's good :)
wait stupid @thispersoncomments I hate them lmao quit thumbing that up idk why you're arguing but throught colors on blank things is easy I could show you how to paint, art is a form of expression just how you see it but its also a quick get rich sham
I'm from EU, been studying fine art for 4 years now.
Crap like this just makes me mad.
Many true talents and skilled pro's don't attain much simply because they aren't blessed with rich snob parents who can afford to buy gallery in the center of NY and pay the media.
I have to say that this is not art. I mean, I'd like to believe I'm open minded but this doesn't appear to be any more fantastic than the average four year old can do. Maybe that's just me. But if some people say it's art, that's their opinion.
This makes me angry, not at the girl, but the people who pay thousands for this kind of art, when people barely have enough money for food and water, her work consists of no talent worth that amount of money, and if you want to go on about "expression" then I'm sorry but no, she's 4 years old and has no life experience, she is simply a kid with a lot of paint spreading it around a canvas, I'm sick of people paying stupid amounts of money for paint splattered on a canvas, it makes me sick.
@lukey120292 Sorry dude, but some people, not including myself, can actually afford to both eat and support art with what may be unrealistic sums of money. Yeah, chemically speaking, it's paint on a canvas. It's also beautiful and inspiring. Talent is secondary. If we can't allow the financially capable to support beauty and inspiration, then I'll be the first to go without food until we can. And personally I think I've learned an awful lot from kids with no life experience. They're undiluted.
@lukey120292 jealouse much, shit all of you guys with your jealous and dumb reactions hiding it behind stupid things. she is a lovely talented kid. bet you all are not half as good a her.. try doing it or stop fucking being negative over a little girl. She makes at least more money that you guys ever will... your life bahahahha and yes she will spend it n poor african elephants maybe
Firstly, I'm an art student- let's open with that. Yes, she may be talented in the future. But right now, there are artist's who create BEAUTIFUL MASTERPIECES who are saving because people are giving this 4 year old all the money she doesn't need.
And, secondly, ART IS NOT ABOUT THE MONEY. it never is. yes, selling your pieces is a plus, but that is not why it should be created. I wouldn't doubt if her parents are doing this to get the money.
@MsLAB24 dude, all she's doing is smearing paint and glue.Until she paints a wolf with the moon's image in it's eyes by a river, all i'll see is emotionless paint smears.
If you went into this art gallery and were looking around at the paintings but knew nothing about the artist, I'm pretty sure you would be surprised and impressed to know that a 4 year old girl did these herself. I'm not sure I would believe it.
Before you criticize her and say "This looks like any other four year old art", think about how much that statement isn't true. If you have little kids, take a look at their work. If you don't then visit the nearest preschool. I bet they're just crude drawings of houses or ponies. Seriously, this girl's stuff is good. Most four year olds would just take two crayons, bang two dots against a piece of paper, and they'd be done.
I can take a shit on canvas and you dumb fucks will buy it as art. If you watch the kid she's just playing there is no thought to what she's doing. Talent takes thought!!!!!! ENOUGH!! WITH THIS CRAP!
I like the fact that they are teaching the girl how to develope creativity. I can see a good use of the child's imagination BUT this whole thing of sell her paintings it's a fraud, and buyers are really foolish if they think that this stuff will acquire value. The kid is ok, the parents are kind of burglars...
This isn't fair!!! I'm an artist, and I paint a bunch of portraits and draw comicbooks, but my art is never idolized by a large crowd. I applaud this little girl for taking an artistic direction, but it's just throwing paint onto a canvas with no sense of detail or careful consideration. And she's able to make $27K apiece? That's outrageous! Anyone can do that, but not everyone can paint perfect portraits or landscapes. That's REAL talent that needs to be paid for. I'm sorry.
I love art (every kind of art), I love artists and spending my time in galleries, but I can't stand idiots who think to see what actually doesn't exist and think to be right. Like in this case...
She is still far from being an artist, can play with paint and have her own style (so as many other little children around her age) but what she is doing is not art!
she 4....not a artist. she likes to paint and I cant help but think that she is being used. I could be wrong she looked like she was having fun. What makes abstract art art is the message behind the picture and I cant say that a 4yr old is able to form such a thing
The one thing I don't like is I'm18, I love art, I want to be a professional artist as a career, and this little 4 year old is more successful than me, she's a better artist than me (in a sense) she so free.
To those that think this is crap, I challenge anyone to get their 4 year old to paint on 3 or more canvasas and see what they come up with. I also challenge some adults to replicate some abstract expressionism. Look up some pics online, it isn't as easy as it looks and there is more going on. I use to think it was just paint splatters until I took the time to learn more about it. To give a fair opinion about anything, its best to try to be objective in researching both sides of the argument
If you don't understand the colour composition, colour balance, all of the talent into making these paintings, then you shouldn't be criticizing her art. Artists can realize the balance, the colours, how she places the colours, the subconscious thought behind it.
@yosoccerboy abstract art is an avenue for idiots who want to pretend they have talent; 'organised chaos' might sound like an intelligent oxymoron but its really just a reflection of the farcical nature of the art world
@yosoccerboy Sorry pal, but no, not all art is art.
Art is more! It's not simply the act of expressing a concept, an idea or oneself.
I LOVE ART and I do understand much more than you ever could, since I'm an artist myself and not an ordinary one. I'm respected in this field and worked hard for it so, as a precocious child who grew up among other precocious children, I can tell that she is far from that. Love to see she enjoys painting but... no, she's not an artist yet.
abstract paintings have MEANING and IDEAS behind them, unlike that girl who just puts colors and different materials together because she feels like it, just for fun
The abstract expressionism and surrealist movement died long ago...that's why many people don't like this anymore...this has been done...many times. To mark her as a prodigy, give her an exhibition, and pay tons of money for her art is ridiculous. Maybe in the 60's this would have been astonishing...not now though. Some people want to feel like an art collector by paying thousands....for this? Her parents are geniuses for fooling those people.
everyone who thinks anyone can do abstract art is simply uninformed and under practiced. "anyone could do that" "I could do that" I'd really like to see everyone that says that actually try. After you see bad abstract art it is easier to see the good abstract art. I believe many kids could do abstract art but not many are given the opportunity to use so much paint and get the entire place messy. but NOT everyone can do it no matter what the age.
@hiccup08 So I'm sitting in my advanced art class in highschool. my friend paints this nice beach landscape, finishes and thinks "this still looks empty" So he draws a box in the middle of it. Art teacher takes a look at and reads all this crap into the meaning of the box. My friend looks at me and says "It's just a box..."
this is awesome. anyone hating on this is most likely wasting hours on Youtube or Facebook, complaining about how this 4 year old lacks talent. I'd like to see any of you get out of your social network bubble world and make some art. See if what you come up with looks close to this cool.

I thought I was going to be the only one who thought that she really isn't a prodigy, until I read the comments. Okay, this girl is having fun with paint and people like it, but there's no way she's a prodigy. If she could paint Mona-Lisa, then that'd be a different story, but all she's doing is splattering paint on a canvas, that's honestly nothing special. Art is about emotions, skill, and expression, and she doesn't really have any of these when it comes to painting because she's 4.
@fashionbug9880 I do agree with you about her being a prodigy but I do think she is a great painter yes art is about emotion and skill and expression and I think she is showing all of that in her paintings just because she's 4 doesnt mean she cant express it on a canvas. I guess becuase I can draw I think everything is art I just see things diffrently from people when it comes to stuff like this.
Ton of unfortunate and untalented people in the comments here, lol. I can honestly say her pieces look amazing, hell of alot better than i could do trying and i'm a grown man, stuff looks good. Cant talk shit about that, very creative.
This makes me so angry, not at the girl, but the people whop are letting her exhibit this stuff and the people who spend thousands of pounds on it whilst people live in poverty and barely have enough money to eat and drink, and to the people saying art is all about expressing yourself, it's not, art is about expressing yourself in a way that shows skill, this is not skill, this has no meaning behind it, and she's expressing nothing because a4 year old barely has enough life experience to express
She's just a kid having fun with paint. I don't think she is some prodigy. Give any kids a ton of paint, random crap, and a canvas and they'd create something very similar. Her art is very interesting and it would be cool to own a piece, but it doesn't take any amount of genius to make something like that. Kids are just naturally creative.
am i the only one that thinks ppl are crazy to buy something that any little kid could do if their parents let them and for such a large amount of money?
Im not trying to be a dick here, but just about ANYTHING can get into an art museum and be considered a masterpiece. I went to a museum in DC and quite a few paintings were just solid lines and a solid background. no explanation, no name nor anything else. I also saw a giant wooden cube in the center of a large empty space (there was a sign that said do not touch the artwork under it so obviously some idiots considered it a work of art)
The 24 paintings on exhibit at the Agora Gallery are priced from $4,400 to $10,000 each. In 2009, one of her paintings (created when she was just 2 years old) sold for $24,000 during a Hong Kong exhibition.
Every artist who first starts making art isn't tainted by the art world. If what he's saying is true we should all pay equal attention to any person making art from babies up to whatever point the person begins to learn about art. Her work is interesting but nothing to make such a buzz about.
@lltrf Very true, but just like everything in the world, it all comes down to who has the big bucks to put their stuff out there. it's true with any industry.
Abstract art doesn't have to be easy or hard. It just has to have people think their own opinions on it. And clearly people enjoy her art.
Painting could be super easy for Da Vinci. You don't know. Obviously it's not, but still, some art comes easy to people. That doesn't make their art bad.
Art's SUPPOSED to be fun, that's why we do it. And it doesn't HAVE to be easy or hard. That's why it's art.
I never understood why people call this stuff art, it is just globs of paint splattered on canvas. Anyone can do that. People that pay exceedingly high amounts of money for paintings like this are foolish.
No, anyone can't do it. Most people fail to compose anything, they just have crap on a canvas. Even abstracts tell a story, of sorts, if they are good. That said, no one required to like it just because other people do.
@jbear0000 It is true that it seems fairly easy to paint, but people like paintings like this because the artist who paints them are trying to express some sort of feeling hence the name expressionism. Each color and shape represent some sort of story or feeling that the artist wants to express and it's up to the consumer to try to understand the emotion the artist was trying to express at that moment. That is art.
I get junk emails from this gallery 2-3 time a day asking if I would like to have a show. You pay for the space and the gallery is widely known as a joke. When she has a work in a major gallery then I will be impressed.

AETutorials42 8 months ago
I'm not gonna lie, she's got some good stuff. There is no story, but she's talented. Stop hating.
nabeel1127 8 months ago
Some of you are being really stupid. Not any four year old can do that stuff....hell not even most adults can do those "nonsense splatters". Go ahead, I dare you to make your own garbage abstract piece, it wont be so easy. Rather the true argument would be about why some humans are willing to place value on what they consider beautiful. I myself find her work beautiful and would totally pay the gallery a visit If I could. Now would I ever pay money for it? Hell no, not even for a master's work.

This makes me angry, not at the girl, but the people who pay thousands for this kind of art, when people barely have enough money for food and water, her work consists of no talent worth that amount of money, and if you want to go on about "expression" then I'm sorry but no, she's 4 years old and has no life experience, she is simply a kid with a lot of paint spreading it around a canvas, I'm sick of people paying stupid amounts of money for paint splattered on a canvas, it makes me sick.
lukey120292 8 months ago 57
@lukey120292 Sorry dude, but some people, not including myself, can actually afford to both eat and support art with what may be unrealistic sums of money. Yeah, chemically speaking, it's paint on a canvas. It's also beautiful and inspiring. Talent is secondary. If we can't allow the financially capable to support beauty and inspiration, then I'll be the first to go without food until we can. And personally I think I've learned an awful lot from kids with no life experience. They're undiluted.

@MsLAB24 ...poor african elephants?
Get educated
TheXrizz 6 months ago
@MsLAB24 dude, all she's doing is smearing paint and glue.Until she paints a wolf with the moon's image in it's eyes by a river, all i'll see is emotionless paint smears.

@lukey120292 thank you!
TheXrizz 6 months ago
If you went into this art gallery and were looking around at the paintings but knew nothing about the artist, I'm pretty sure you would be surprised and impressed to know that a 4 year old girl did these herself. I'm not sure I would believe it.
Krazykoncoction 8 months ago
Before you criticize her and say "This looks like any other four year old art", think about how much that statement isn't true. If you have little kids, take a look at their work. If you don't then visit the nearest preschool. I bet they're just crude drawings of houses or ponies. Seriously, this girl's stuff is good. Most four year olds would just take two crayons, bang two dots against a piece of paper, and they'd be done.

I'm sorry.

missmortifer 8 months ago
she 4....not a artist. she likes to paint and I cant help but think that she is being used. I could be wrong she looked like she was having fun. What makes abstract art art is the message behind the picture and I cant say that a 4yr old is able to form such a thing
guertin11 8 months ago

To those that think this is crap, I challenge anyone to get their 4 year old to paint on 3 or more canvasas and see what they come up with. I also challenge some adults to replicate some abstract expressionism. Look up some pics online, it isn't as easy as it looks and there is more going on. I use to think it was just paint splatters until I took the time to learn more about it. To give a fair opinion about anything, its best to try to be objective in researching both sides of the argument

@missmortifer All art is art.
She is an artist.
If you don't understand the colour composition, colour balance, all of the talent into making these paintings, then you shouldn't be criticizing her art. Artists can realize the balance, the colours, how she places the colours, the subconscious thought behind it.
yosoccerboy 8 months ago
@yosoccerboy abstract art is an avenue for idiots who want to pretend they have talent; 'organised chaos' might sound like an intelligent oxymoron but its really just a reflection of the farcical nature of the art world
irishzulu 8 months ago
@yosoccerboy Sorry pal, but no, not all art is art.
Art is more! It's not simply the act of expressing a concept, an idea or oneself.
I LOVE ART and I do understand much more than you ever could, since I'm an artist myself and not an ordinary one. I'm respected in this field and worked hard for it so, as a precocious child who grew up among other precocious children, I can tell that she is far from that. Love to see she enjoys painting but... no, she's not an artist yet.
Maybe in future.

I believe many kids could do abstract art but not many are given the opportunity to use so much paint and get the entire place messy. but NOT everyone can do it no matter what the age.

never new how easy it was to become a prodigy at art.... well, i better go splatter some paint on a canvas
punnkypo 8 months ago
I thought I was going to be the only one who thought that she really isn't a prodigy, until I read the comments. Okay, this girl is having fun with paint and people like it, but there's no way she's a prodigy. If she could paint Mona-Lisa, then that'd be a different story, but all she's doing is splattering paint on a canvas, that's honestly nothing special. Art is about emotions, skill, and expression, and she doesn't really have any of these when it comes to painting because she's 4.
fashionbug9880 8 months ago
@fashionbug9880 I do agree with you about her being a prodigy but I do think she is a great painter yes art is about emotion and skill and expression and I think she is showing all of that in her paintings just because she's 4 doesnt mean she cant express it on a canvas. I guess becuase I can draw I think everything is art I just see things diffrently from people when it comes to stuff like this.

lukey120292 8 months ago 2
She's just a kid having fun with paint. I don't think she is some prodigy. Give any kids a ton of paint, random crap, and a canvas and they'd create something very similar. Her art is very interesting and it would be cool to own a piece, but it doesn't take any amount of genius to make something like that. Kids are just naturally creative.

Every artist who first starts making art isn't tainted by the art world. If what he's saying is true we should all pay equal attention to any person making art from babies up to whatever point the person begins to learn about art. Her work is interesting but nothing to make such a buzz about.

banzaiboy1066 8 months ago
Jeesh, people, heaven FORBID that art's fun!
That's why it's art.
yosoccerboy 8 months ago
I never understood why people call this stuff art, it is just globs of paint splattered on canvas. Anyone can do that. People that pay exceedingly high amounts of money for paintings like this are foolish.

@jbear0000
I couldn't agree more.
ricebunny53 8 months ago
@jbear0000
No, anyone can't do it. Most people fail to compose anything, they just have crap on a canvas. Even abstracts tell a story, of sorts, if they are good. That said, no one required to like it just because other people do.
HacksawSA 8 months ago
@jbear0000 It is true that it seems fairly easy to paint, but people like paintings like this because the artist who paints them are trying to express some sort of feeling hence the name expressionism. Each color and shape represent some sort of story or feeling that the artist wants to express and it's up to the consumer to try to understand the emotion the artist was trying to express at that moment. That is art.
