my d&d character's name is Trillium, drow elf female 5ft. 10 in" born on Smelborp (my fathers planet) thief acrobat ( level 5) 2 scimitars, 1 dagger. full body black shiny dark snake scale suit of armor, feather/fur dress w/ pocket of holding, and enables her to jump up to 12 ft. virtically. also has wond of w.o.w., and magic ring that glows, and speaks to you when anything ork related been on 1 adventure will keep you updated. P.S. one of our party is a 3ft. 70lb. gnome named Asian Pot!
@martialartssucks02 Be open to inspiration at all times and be yourself. If you don't know exactly what you like, experiment. Don't be afraid to step outside of the (your) box.
I remember the first adventure I ever made. It was pretty silly. There's a guy who owns a shop who's apprentice has been summoning demons from his cellar. He sends your characters down to stop him. When you get down there, the demons have turned the cellar into a maze full of traps and you have to go through it. Like I said, it was pretty ridiculous
mmmm this makes me what to run a campaign. i had an idea for a four player thing. not shere but each one of the players is one of the 4 for the apocalypse. what do you think? just an idea.
Try to find Brenna. Also, I am very much looking forward to this new adventure. Any particular reason why you stopped the island of horns? Are these going to link up?
have you ever run a mostly improv adventure? where the player steer the story and stuff? i'm going to try to run one of these but i was wondering if you have any advice on how to run one of these.
i mean its easy enough to plug in a few encounter with bandits and wild animals here and there but i guess every now and then you have to throw in a dungeon or two right?
@henry12350 I have, in fact. From time to time, I make random D&D things for fun: monsters, dungeon layouts, NPCs, random treasure tables, random encounter tables, etc. This helps a lot for improving, but so does proper frame of mind. If you go into the session with an open mind, enthusiasm, and proper attention, it makes all the difference.
where can i find examples of the tables? do you have any on your examiner page? that would make a great upload if there arent any,
i have a few encounters written up that can come up while crossing a desert and stuff but the main thing is stuff in towns there are just to many variables to not leave it up to improve, without a straight and narrow story that is
@henry12350 Strange as it may sound, I have not posted any such tables on my Examiner page yet. Thanks for the idea, I'll have to do that!
Another aspect of improvisation is just good old practice and experience. Don't worry about being an expert at first, just go for it and always note (mentally or otherwise) areas that you can improve upon.
@runningpip Always good to hear, thank you sir! I'm glad you like the Island of Horns series, I enjoyed making it and bringing that corner of my world to life.
i vote cemetery Brenna might be sympathetic but she does not have the means to assist him and she cant risk her family so she would be inclined to refuse him
@narutofan3010 Not to complex really. A skill check is tied to a ability score (ie Strength, Charisma, etc) and, in 4th edition, a bonus if you are trained plus half your level against a set number the Dungeon Master has place.
So a athletic check could be set at 15 by the Dungeon Master. The player, as a 1st level Fighter, rolls 1d20+8 (+3 from her strength and +5 from training). If they roll a 7 or higher, they make the check.

Whenever you do the skill checks and such, I like to pause the video and try to succeed the checks on my own.

How do you make your maps repsesper?
eric960430 1 year ago
@eric960430 I hand draw them. The encounter maps are as they are drawn, and the kingdom/world maps are then edited in Photoshop.

@narutofan3010 You roll a d20 plus add a modifier. For example, Argyle's Stealth skill is +8.
