For an extended period of time, Tom Ford owned majority shares in both YSL and Gucci. Tom Ford, the label, is just him moving into doing his own thing the way people go to multiple labels until they get where they want to be. Just because you do a job for someone credible, does not mean you have to be there forever. And, when people differ, sometimes moving on is best for business.
