what most people fail to understand is that the stars in orions belt are actually not as close together as they seem from earth: Alnitak is approximately 800 light years away from earth, Alnilam is approximately 1340 light years away from Earth, Mintaka is 915 light years away. For comparision, our nearest neighbour Proxima Centauri is around 4,2 lightyears away. The stars in orions belt dont even have the same zipcode as each other.
