@rricci the reason for the music video is because it was recorded from MTV. They went from music programming directly into the 30min block of test pattern.
We know we have WAAAAAAAY too much time on our hands when we're watching test patterns and tones on YouTube. Now that I said that, I have 2 questions. 1) why is there a music video at the beginning and the 3rd pattern (I think) has 2 tones. Why is that?
If you noticed all the TV Channels that are signed off are all Viacom and MTV Network owned! LOL! Channels Viacom and MTV own: VH1, MTV, Nickelodeon, TVLand. LOL XD I think MTV owns the other ones to!
The "HD" test pattern is not a bona fide pattern in the sense of what is recommended by ARIB STD-B28 or SMPTE RP 219-2002, but rather a "stretching" of the ECR 1-1978 / EG 1-1990 style.
The "premium" test pattern is what in the U.S. is called "FCC color bars," and in the U.K. is characterized as ITU BT.801-1. Only this was a 100% level, as opposed to 75% (or 77%, if counting 7.5 IRE / 53.57 mV) for the other color bars.
