  • From what year is this tune?

  • went to a gathering a couple of weeks ago...the music was TERRIBLE and the kids were jumping up and down to this corny souless music. They have absolutely no clue as to what really good music is like and that is so sad...Miss Rushen does a true number with this song. Its a song that makes you WANT to get up and do moves you never thought you had!! (and thats saying something for a 62 year old woman like me!) I would dance my butt off back in1979 when this jam first came out.

  • again i say it,this music makes the people say such great things, how anybody says bad things toi this,i hope they get a bad sinus infection, and their teeth rot,so they have to breathe through their mouth to show their ugliness,(wow, that was pretty good,I pat my self on the back for that comment, hahaha),love you beautiful people !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "A gentle touch, a tender heart

A smile to brighten up my day

  • very talented...haven't you heard?.....awesome

  • Real pretty woman.

  • How I miss real music

  • @felofeets this generation ..thank god for youtube..or else..they are really deprived!

  • It's not so much as hating on hip-hop. It's more like frustration with what is now more, imitation, sampling and watered down repackaging of the great music we (40+) crowd grew up on. What's original these days?

  • Beautiful piano interlude, that was the time when there still was a little bit of jazz in lots of songs.

  • 3 People HAVEN'T heard decent music.

  • Hmm, Kirk Franklin copied much? Always good hearing the original.

  • @AleekahTV He didn`t copy really, he used the beat and added the lyrics which are gospel. Daddy`s Favorite also copied-remixed this song and released it in 1998. Musicians do it all the time .. it`s called a cover. As long as it`s sounds good who cares!

  • @mavafangu Yea, I agree.

  • If music were food:

This: A lovingly prepared meal for two using only the finest natural ingredients and served outside on a still summer's evening.

Most modern R&B: a cardboard burger dripping with oil, scoffed standing up on a crowded train.

  • 3 people must be deaf

  • if you're at a party...you should be going CRAZY @ 3:30...

  • Love the dissonance of those upper strings!!! wow!!

  • Why are people hatin on hip hop, disco and hip hop aren't father and son. More distant cousins......

  • She is a musician. She plays more than one instrument and wrote many songs inlcuding this one.

  • holy shit those strings in the intro....=0...

  • In my mind, "Hip-hop" ruined THIS kind of music! With technology, and greedy producers (you hear me Jermaine Dupri, Puffy, Farrell!!!) , you no longer needed true instruments...or singing! A computer could do it all for you!!! Thank God for youtube, com!!!!!

  • @cireewol So what computers did Grandmaster Flash, the Sugar Hill Gang and other early hip-hop artists use to produce their music?

  • @kaplanyorks where are those early pioneers today ???? exactly.....the point cireewol was making is that actual instruments have been replaced for the most part in alot of Generes of Muzik....as you also state in early hip hop too..."They" just happen to focus on Hip Hop....but it's bigger than that....it's in R&B, House, Jazz, Pop to name a few...Peace & Love

  • patrice played all the keys on this

  • She is a professor at Berklee in Boston. Was the Music Director on a bunch of Awards shows and rock tours. This woman is a HEAVYWEIGHT... pretty hot, too.

  • This makes me want to grow and afro and boogie

  • This song has such an awesome shuffle swing to it. Top it off with one of the greatest Fender Rhodes solos in the history of music, and you've got one incredible gem!

  • Does anyone know what group is doing the background.

  • @sullivancountydays Yeah, so, Prince Nelson Rodgers aka "Prince" work with Patrice on this album. Read about it in "Right On" and "Jet" magazine jsut B4 the album dropped back in the day. Prince does the solo keyboards also.

  • I haven't heard this Patrice Rushen song in such a long time that it's a treat to listen to decent music in 2011. Thanks for posting.
