Roger's the real deal from back when talent mattered a whole lot more than gimmicks and a glitzy look. Been enjoying his music since early childhood. Seems like the Byrds have been the soundtrack of my life.
Dylan may be a great songwriter but when he sings he sounds like a cat that's had his butt scraped raw with a corn cob and had alcohol and salt poured on it.
@folksinger91 It's a Martin dreadnaught 12-string. I'd have to look at an old catalog to tell you what model number it was (email Martin -- they could tell you at a glance). They made a McGuinn signature 12 for a while and now have a McG signature 7-string (with an octave on only the G). This is very much like a D12-28, only it has a bound fretboard. Maybe from their custom shop? McG also played Guild and Ovation acoustic 12s at various times. The sound was in the man, not the brand.
@TurgeonFan77132 Martin did make a D12-35 in the 60s and early 70s, which I've seen, but it was a 12-fret sloped shoulder dread with a slotted headstock, pretty different from this one. Apparently David Crosby once had a D-35 converted to 12-string which he gave to Bryan Maclean from LOVE in the mid 60s. But this one clearly was built as a 12-string -- the peghead is the giveaway (a converted 6 would have a shorter peghead). Maybe we need to email Roger. :)
@Reint25 The song is "Take Me Away" from his 1976 Cardiff Rose Album. The song is about the Rolling Thunder Revue Tour in 1975 with Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell and Roger.

@M6A1t6t The song is titled: "Take Me Away". About his 1975 bus tour with Bob Dylan, Joan Baez Ramblin Jack Elliott.etc, on Cardiff Rose Album. They called the tour "The Rolling Thunder Revue".
The narrator had it slightly wrong; Simon & Garfunkel were indeed originally known as Tom & Jerry very early in their career, but by the time they released their first acoustic album (WEDNESDAY MORNING, 3 A.M.), They were already going by their own names.
McGuinn, Clark, Hillman, Crosby, Parsons ~ these guys were the best to EVER originate from L.A. Nobody covered Dylan's stuff better than the Byrds. Nobody.
hmm, guess you needed go go girls with just about any rock music on those shows at the time, seems sort of misguided with Byrds music, McGuinn really popularized those granny glasses, wonder if he still has a pair!
They were not really granny glasses, as worn first my Sebastian, then Lennon. They were rectangular sunglasses, which are extremely hard to find. I have tried for years.
The 60's were such an amazing time...music was great, even lads were better looking! Just look AT Gene Clark at 2:56 and Roger McGuinn at 3:36!! (they both are my platonic loves from the 60's, LOL!)
I lived through them. Many of my friends did not including my younger sister. Strange/wonderful time. I miss the music. The roadie for the Buffalo Spriigfield lived next door--> I heard SERGEANT PEPPER [BEFORE IT WAS RELEASED] + ROCK AND ROLL LADY [Buff. Spring.]..It was a neat era and a doped up alley. Look how many fab artists are dead from od's in the 60's/70's. I miss them all.

Esse cara é bom demais, um dos grandes músicos dos anos 60. Valeu.

Does anybody know the first song Roger McGuinn's playing? Great video, especially when McGuinn's story turns into Turn Turn Turn.
