The ballots were never officially counted. Had they been counted and went Gores way then Bush would have likely contested the election leaving us without a President elect until this matter was resolved. I had to obtain my birth certificate and you need to be specific. They will send you a blue and white certificate with your birthname and parents name. I wanted the form filled out by the hospital, which is a Live Birth Form, which is detailed like a death certificate. In my city, people born before 1980 they don't even keep those records on file. The state capital holds those records.

If only people with birth certificates could run for President, then US citizens born in states like Arizona which stopped issuing birth certificates to anyone born before 1990 and will now only issue COLBS to them would never be able to run for President.

@kiiifute1 The act gave Obama a path to citizenship. You can not just claim that your father was a British Citizen and Poof you qualify under the act as you suggest. Part 2 sec 5 of the act requires a foreign born person wishing to claim citizenship under the act to register proof of qualification with the British Secretary of State in before the UK will grant you citizenship. If this is not done just like OBama the British government will not recognize you as a British citizen.

The ballots were never officially counted. Had they been counted and went Gores way then Bush would have likely contested the election leaving us without a President elect until this matter was resolved. The courts did what they had to so they we would have a leader.

I had to obtain my birth certificate and you need to be specific. They will send you a blue and white certificate with your birthname and parents name. I wanted the form filled out by the hospital, which is a Live Birth Form, which is detailed like a death certificate. In my city, people born before 1980 they don't even keep those records on file. The state capital holds those records.

@kiiifute1 The act gave Obama a path to citizenship. You can not just claim that your father was a British Citizen and Poof you qualify under the act as you suggest. Part 2 sec 5 of the act requires a foreign born person wishing to claim citizenship under the act to register proof of qualification with the British Secretary of State in before the UK will grant you citizenship. If this is not done just like OBama the British government will not recognize you as a British citizen.

The reality of the situation is that as a foreign born person he "qualified" under part 2 section 5 of the act if he chose to pursue UK citizenship. @Lyric695, So wrong. 8USC1401 is the congressional definition of the 14th Amendment, defining a US Citizen by naturalization or birth. Natural Born refers to the common practice of a natural conception of a child between a man and wife lawfully married, ordained by the church, who then naturally give birth to said legitimate child. Thus a Natural Born Citizen would be born to two above mentioned persons, both citizens, in the land of their allegiance. It is a matter of simple deduction.

1. Naturalization in a United State = US Citizen
2. Birth. There are 4 sub-paths to US citizenship by birth:
a. Foreign birth to a US Citizen in a Foreign State = US Citizen
b. Foreign birth to 2 US Citizens in a Foreign State = US NBC
c. Native birth to a US Citizen in a United State = US Citizen (Obama)
d. Natural birth to 2 US Citizens in a United State = US NBC
Since Obama isn't natural born, he is ineligible to be POTUS.

@Lyric695, It is not unconstitutional to make legitimization a requirement of US Citizenship.
Requiring a couple to be legally married is not unconstitutional, specifying a religion they be married under is a violation of the establishment clause.

@kiiifute1 The constitution clearly states: Only native-born U.S. citizens (or those born abroad, but only to parents who were both citizens of the U.S.) may be president of the United States, Article 2, Clause 5. Natural Born simply means that you must be born on US soil. Obama was born on US soil therefore his presidency is completely legitimate, end of story.

If the Founders had not wanted an expansive definition of citizenship,Morse cont,it would only have been necessary to say,'no person,except a native-born citizen

@kiiifute1 You have the same problem that I find that many birthers have. You base your arguments on 19th century court decisions with no regard for current legislation that overturned those decisions many years ago. This is the 21st century and it is governed by 21st century law.

@kiiifute1 Ok, let's assume your definition is correct. I was born in the US. My father is Australian, my mother an American citizen. I pleadge allegiance to the United States. Are you saying that I'm not an American citizen then. I went to school in Pennsylvania, college in Michigan, have travelled all 50 states and know the constitution verbatim. Are you telling me and millions of others like me that we are not Americans?
