i went to west virginia , first time i saw how big my family reeally was and man could my great grand mother sing at the time along with everyone eles mutch older then me & i know now i missed out on something great , im gonna move there when i grow old
all the photos are from West Virginia except the shot of the guy tending the flowering vine. That's not honeysuckle or WVA but a nice shot, so I used it.
Are you from Wetzel County? I spent many summers up on Chiselfinger Ridge (out behind fishing creek) at my granny's place. There was no more carefree place anywhere in the world. I'd go back in a heartbeat if I could.
I will always be a hillbilly boy in my heart. Walking the country road from a two room school house to the farm. Throwing rocks and feeling the warm West Virginia sun - even now at sixty. Traveled a lot around the world. Saw a lot of things. But would give it all to be a boy flying off the rope at the little rock on Fish Creek. My soul belongs to the mountains.
No, it is the truth! I have sent your video to several people who love it as much as I do. I like your version because, like our beautiful mountain streams, it is lilting and melodic...accessible to everyone's ear. The harmonies are gorgeous. Do you have this recorded on a CD somewhere? Also, do you come here at all? I live near the Purple Fiddle, a well known bluegrass and old-time venue in Thomas, WV. You should try to gig there. Let me know if you have this on CD.

West Virginia has got what everyone looks forward to get away from the rat racers

All pictures are of West Virginia, except of course, the studio shots that were taken in the studios of WOUB in Athens, Ohio.

So beautiful!! We here in "West By God" have a lot to be thankful for. What a lovely song, and sung so well, too. Great!

Hazel Dickens did it better, but this is still a wonderful song about my wonderful home, WEST VIRGINIA
