~Bane is a very Credible menacing villain who has always been wildly underestimated! He has never been depicted properly. Any cameo he has ever made such as any animation, Batman&Robin97, and recent video games has always discredited him downward to a moronic brain~dead rageaholic deadweight who is always easily defeated. Obviously Nolan read the Chuck Dixon or the early 90's "KnightFall" collection! So did I. Did anybody else?

@napalmman420 I think the character was more than ruined by "Batman & Robin". He was completely destroyed there. Even if it's not up to par with comics' Bane, it's going to be a huge improvement in the cinematic world.

I'd love to see Nolan finish the trilogy with a story which involves Bane but only as a secondary player, or could even leave him out but hint at his arrival (like BB). Then, five years from now, the property could be handed to Arofonsky (who was the major competitor with Nolan to do Batman Begins, Arofonsky's potential Batman reboot was called Batman Year One), who could do Knightfall properly, in 2 films (part 1 ends with batman's back broken, part 2 with him defeating azrael).

Bane would make a great movie vilian taking the essence thatr made him gret in Vengance of Bane an Knightfal, the character the became soft, dul,l a hero,. On the Punisher - Batman subject I enjoy both characters, At first I would be inclined to take Castle road, but realistically it has it costs, come on a War against crime and no collateral damage, innocent victims, kiling the wrong and innocent guy.

Bane will only make a great Villian for a batmaan movie, IF! Their doing the Knight Fall story! Thats the story I wanna see turned into a Movie! Not some cheesy bullshit where Batman win's the day when they have a first encounter. No first Encounter Batman and Bane has, should be Batman's defeat ala back broken as comic shown. Much more believable story anyway. than batman overcoming someone so amply more powerful than himself

@LordEli Well you sure got your wish. The new movie is ironically called "The dark knight Rises" when its more about his fall. Banes in it and the trailer chants bane to kill batman so im guessing there may be a back breaking section. Correct me if im wrong but dident bane sneak into the batcave and ambush batman and thats how he broke his back? Its been too long since i read the comics so i forgot the real bane story

@BullpwhoTV No... Bane broke open criminals all over gotham to keep batman running in circles and busy. and When he seized the opertunity to ambush Batman on the job. He whooped the shit out of Batman, who was unprepared for such a fight as Bane brought to him. He out smarted Batman by knowing batman's tactics to be prepared for the fight. Batman was not prepared to fight Bane didn't have a clue about him so got his ass kicked. thus proving if batman hasn't got time to prepar well.. you know

@BullpwhoTV I don't know that much as I never had the opertunity to read the whole book. I was just interested in seeing Batman get broken. since I hate Batman with a passion. I found some video's and a few pages of the comic online showing the scuffle and the How as to how Bane succeeded. so chances are he very well may have found out his true identity as well

Unfortunatly they already said they wouldn't do the Knightfall storyline because of the reaction from the kids seeing their hero pretty much defeated or something along those lines. I heard they originally wanted to but said it wouldn't be proper for the fans which I think is crap.

How I would do the new Batman is a criminal Batman has caught before breaks out and kills Gordon's family. This then causes the city to question weither Batman is even doing his job so they hire a mercenary. Bane. Bane not only brings the crime rate down but he kills criminals. Jervis Tech (The Mad Hatter) has been found guilty of child molestation, Batman holds Jervis in protection but the city demans blood. We all have to ask ourselves who is right? Bane or Batman?

That is badass! I never thought their could be a good Mad Hatter use in these movies. Here's what I think Make the riddler the villian trying to get revenge on his former employers and while later on hiring Bane because he needs muscle to stop Batman from defeating his plans. Catwoman can be the love interest and a minor side story that she appears and disappears like Batman does but not involved in Riddler's schemes but in Batman's suspicions. Basically "Nightfall" with a touch of Batman:Hush

I think Catwoman should stay the hell away from this series. Her character is overplayed and it be hard to take it serious. These new line of Batman films are supposed to be done in a serious and dark way. Characters like Catwoman, to me at least, are really hard to take seriously. In Batman returns that was fine because it suited the style of movie. It would be like saying "We are going to have the films be serious and the next villians will be Clayface and Manbat". Like WTF?

No you read that correct. Bane is a mercenery and a contract killer. Since the person who killed Gordon's family was a criminal Batman already caught. The city starts questioning weither Batman's even doing his job and why Arkham a revolving door. So the city loses faith in Batman because Bane ends the criminals for good rather them temporaraly. It doesn't follow the comics perfectly but I thought the plot was quite interesting.

But Gordon would NEVER cross that line anymore than Batman, you would be tampering with what makes those characters legendary in the first place.

Gotham can't really take it on the Batman for not doing his job since nobody is forcing him to fight criminals in the first place. If anything, Gotham would blame the Police, but with the city being so corrupt they have been doing that before Batman came to the scene.

I've seen Gordon get pretty rough before. Who knows how he would react to that situation.

After all Nolan's Batman wasn't perfect representations of the characters either.

I think it would be an interesting twist. Since Batman refuses to kill and since the people are sick and tired of having criminals escape all the time and want some type of action done, they find a new hero in Bane who is even more vigilante than Batman.

I have no problem with Gotham taking Bane as their primary hero over Batman (or Azrael over Batman for that matter). It's Gordon whom I have a problem with doing that. He wouldn't stoop to that level, even if his family was killed.

Nolan's Batman isn't a picture perfect representation of Batman but it remains true to its characters, and that's what matters at the end of the day.

Really? You do know the original Batman became tottally different when the comic code came into effect. I'd prefer the films to be placed in his pulp detective roots rather than a watered down version of The Punisher.

Yes, I have read some of the original 1940s Batman comics, I know he carried a gun and had no qualms about killing. However, that's not the legendary Batman of today. The character evolved, and for the better. If he hadn't, he would have been as forgotten as most of the superheroes of that time.

I am also interested in a Batman ALTERNATE tale with more detective pulp stuff and set in the 1940s. Same with Superman (with the whole 1940s vibe).

I just think the Batman of today is just a watered down version of Frank Castle. The only reason why Batman evolved was to appeal to kids, destroying his whole persona.

I dunno a lot of the pulp characters are still popular today and comics are still comming out. The Shadow, Sandman ect

It may be more of a cult following, but I'd rather a raw, simplistic Batman movie dealing with real crimes, no silly gizmos or anything, just a pure pulp story that isn't watered down.

Frank Castle is just an obsessive thug with zero restraint. What makes Batman more interesting is that he is the best at what he does, going deeply into the criminal underworld, without becoming them. That struggle is what makes his character so great. Punisher will be forgotten in 100 years, probably sooner. Batman will not.

Also, a mere cult following doesn't spawn several series (animated and live action) and movies, with the second ever highest grossing movie of all time.

Funny because Punisher has been around for years. Sometimes you have to become what you hate to get a job done. The way Batman does it, he might as well give up because everyone he catches just comes back, it's a waste of everyone's time.

Characters like Spawn, Punisher, Ghost Rider, and even early Supreme made sure justice was served.

Yes, he has. Yet few people outside the comic industry know him as well as Batman. He's not an icon, he won't last like Batman or Superman. He may "get the job done", yet the world is still rotten despite it.

If that's what we needed to uphold the law then let's give all policemen the green light to kill at will. If you become what you hate, then you are not making things better, you make them worse.

And let's not forget, conflict is the name of the game. Batman's interesting, Punisher isn't.

Well life sucks, the world is never going to find peace. No matter who tries to fix it. It's just not going to happen. If there was a child molester or killer would you rather have Batman throw him in a cell and then he gets that stupid rehabilitation and walks the streets or would you rather have him dead?

Actually I found Batman kind of redundant after a while, I always prefered characters like The Shadow, Spawn, Supreme ect.

Since this is a comicbook argument I will mention Superman: Red Sun. In this oneshot, Supes fights for justice but instead of killing the unjust, he just removes their free will. (SPOILER) At the end he discovers that fighting the good fight means giving people a chance. Batman & Superman are known for that.

@samsam29 I agree that Batman has the moral high ground over Punisher and a bigger "awesome" factor to boot, but I don't think Frank Castle will go quietly into that dark night. He has already been around for decades and is still as popular as any other B-list superhero. Lots of people like him for the very facets of his character that set him apart from Batman. In fact, there is no reason why someone (like me) can't like both.

I have no problem with liking both characters, just with arguing that he is a better character than Batman because he is more "hardcore".

well dark knight wasnt really a kids movie anyway, it seemed 2 b way too intellectual 4 many kids 2 even understand what was going on in fact when i watched it with my siblings (a 9 n 12 year old) they both nearly fell asleep of boredom same went 4 the youngers of my friends,if they ever make a knightfall(which i really hope they do) maybe they shoulke it R-13 or something.so at least little kids wont hav 2 see bats get broken(but i wanna see that happen in live action)but i enjoyed dark knight.

It's all about the studios man. Chris Nolan probably wanted to do these new Batman films R rated and be really dark but the studio would have told him no way and told him to add some really bad and unneeded humour like the parts in the dark knight.

Well see with the idea for the story I had above. He doesn't break Batman in the literal sense (although I WOULD LOVE to see that) he pretty much breaks his spirit and causes him to lose control of the city and his life. So it is a Knightfall but not in the direct comic sense. Although it would be hard to end because the audience would be on different sides, Bane's and Batman's.
