great band...gira is still great....the only band that made that made also a good comeback was mission of burma....and don t forget the ex...the new record is also great!!!
I think it'd be a little strange for a guy in his 50s with a family to do a 'downright brutal' album. . .there is definitely brutal instrumentation on this album that should satisfy the early rhythmic appetite.
@TheKnifeWon Haven't you ever heard anything by Whitehouse released in the 2000s? Plus William Bennett is getting ready to release an album of "afro-noise" under his Cut Hands project soon too. Don't know if he has a family, but he's in his 50s.
@TheKnifeWon haha. No hard feelings. Didn't mean for my reply to sound like an insult, just saying. But in the case of Gira and early Swans, yes I do find it hard to imagine a '50 year old Gira doing Filth/Cop/Young God material in the shirtless frenzied style he used to. Obviously Whitehouse = different music, different aesthetic, and W. Bennett = totally different dude (who doesn't seem to take himself too seriously).
I'm sure Swans fans are going to hate me for this, but although this is a good album. I was really hoping for something just downright brutal like Filth, or Cop.
I dont see how people can such asses, why does everyone want a friggin' rock album? I wanna see music moving forward, not repeated and rehashed. This is certainly still WAYYY ahead of its time.
@Power2theFlyingV because people are resistant to change. swans have been consistent through-out and this album just proves how phenomenal the talent within the group is. people who cannot grasp that are obviously lacking upstairs which is fine- more goodness for the rest of us!
@tatonnement hey dont pay attention to my comment i seriously thought i was listening to another band i was super fucked up lol swans is still really good though
@stiggyh I can’t remember exactly where he said it but it was definitely dedicated Thirlwell; he has collaborated with Swans in the past (notably on “ A Screw”)
i design my own breafcases and then i give them out to suckers if you are not a sucker that certainly doesn't bother me.

@TheKnifeWon Listen to them live. Then you'll see that their brutality is mantained, if not augumented. AMAZING.
