@koolbart1 Having full laptop functionality is great, but it's also heavy, has far shorter battery life and no touch-screen capability. The Modbook Pro would be a total iPad killer, if Axiotron would ever release it!

Erm... OSX is coded for SPECIFIC hardware - and it performs best on it. The hardware Macs use is, for example, Quartz Extreme enabled and has other stuff that makes their hardware and software work best together.

NIce vid, My only complaints are macs simply aren't geared towards easy upgrades, are over priced and over rated. I know I will get attacked for this, but that's due to the nature of mac fans and I don't care. I've owned, sold, programmed apples since the 1st ones out. The apple always has a nice case, but often can't be upgraded as easily as a pc, or as cheaply. Any pc I build always out performs a mac, and for about 1/2 the price with more features. And yes, my stuff is stable.

Agreed, every computer ive built is 500 to 1200 dollars cheaper than a MAC and im getting 30 to 50 percent gains over them performance wise

And plus you can do more things with a PC, if you really want MAC osX on your PC, look up Hackintosh, it will tell you how and where to download the software virus free

That's why I use Macs and PCs though, on the Mac I enjoy not having to worry about spyware, viruses and the general instability of Windows.

The etched forceglass screen can't be scratched by the pen and is designed to feel like paper when you're writing or drawing.

That would be terrible! You do have to be careful not to wear rings or bracelets that will rub against the screen, when you're drawing, but the stylus certainly won't do damage.

You could always install a Windows bootcamp partition on the MacBook/Modbook. Though it's not supported by Axiotron, it should work fine in theory.

Electronic music equipment is way more expensive than electronic art equipment (such as a Modbook), and people don't think twice about dropping thousands of dollars on amps, guitars, synthesizers, etc. I think it's all relative to your particular interests.

Good point. Im a musician and I have a Mac running at home and about $10k worth of gear. Its all relative. If you are a graphic's guy(or gal) this is an amazing way to utilise your macbook.

the video is really interesting, but there is A LOT of room for improvement when it comes to the video encoding. in the bandwidth availability and video tech. of 2009 you no longer have to use mpeg4-asp at, what, 750kbps? i've seen SVCD from 2001 looking better than this :)

Also, I think you're referring to the 'standard' quality version, which YouTube automatically generated from the 720p HD original that I uploaded. I'm not terribly pleased with their down-sampling quality either.

Like all creative tools (eg. guitars, pottery wheels, etc.) it's not cheap, but relatively speaking, it's an inexpensive option. Compare the Cintiq screen/tablet at $1000 for the 12" or $2000 for the 21", and that doesn't include GPS! Personally, I think it's cool that you can upgrade your existing MacBook for only $1299 (actually $1149 now, limited time offer).

The majority of that was already done though right? The actual modbook bit was pre-assembled.

Yeah, the tablet screen assembly comes mostly pre-assembled, you just add the camera and a few wires.  This is just a video of the upgrade process, we may do a complete disassembly, if there's enough demand, but the part that's pre-assembled is basically just a screen in a custom shell.
