@nelbuscus Don't need more than 1GB really, unless your screen is beyond 1920x1080 which I doubt. The Graphics processor influences much more than the memory.
Zotac always give you the same and/or better spec's for less money with a better warrenty....just compare any Zotac card to many with the exact same spec's.
I personally had a bad experience with XFX. In the end, can you really tell how good a company's warranty is based on rumors and comments on the internet? I've heard EVGA is shit, EVGA is superb, XFX is the best, the smaller name cards are underrated, the small name cards aren't popular for a reason, Sapphire sucks, Sapphire rocks...bla bla bla. The only thing I can go off of is fine details about the warranty and how big the manufacturer's name is.
yea i used to buy no soly based on warranty but was important in my desisions now i dont as warranty is only as good as the company take bfg for example i have a gts250 lifetime witch = 10 years they tanked and was told i no longer have a warranty pny took over the problem of rma's
@razzp25 it helps with resale, if the company goes by serial # anyone can rma the card so if you sell it your buyer can easily get it replaced if need be
yup thats exactly why i am not buying ATI anymore there support is rubbish I had a faulty ATI pro card and they fobbed me off every time in the 3 years of warranty Nvidia have much better warranty/support
@AngelOnez I had a card die on me after the first year, $300+ down the drain. Yeah, I'll pay $10-20 more for free replacement for your lifetime or the 2-3 years you may have it. I usually give my old card to a family or friend so the warranty is still useful.
im assuming its the same as bfg witch have a lifetime its not a forever thing as long as its within 10 years your ok 11 soory buy a new card not a prob as none of these will be around in ten years
Definitely don't buy a video card without lifetime warranty. XFX has or had the best warranty of all of them, a double lifetime warranty, you and one other person you sell or give it to will have a lifetime warranty.
It's lame that you have to register in the first month or they don't honor it though, it's just a way for them to cheat you out of the warranty.
Zotac make the best nVdia chipset cards. I am running a gts 250, I shopped around and it had superior clock speeds. To bad the latest nVidia cards suck, Phys X is the most fps eating whore and I am saving for a 5850 :)
Warrenty is always great with computer parts and accessories, there are so many things that can roflstomp your components at any time. Most manufacturers are good about replacing products and usually the warranty is free.
the crappy one looked like palit to me, had a dodgy nvdia 5xxx series card from them ages ago, the fan just died and the gpu fried and they didnt want to know
Warranty for graphic cards is not something I've ever looked much into, because as a gamer, it's usually something you replace fairly often. So if my card failed, I would probably just buy a newer and better card XD
Look, XFX really USED TO BE one of the best, but right they produce low quality cards and their RMA is a nightmare.
Saphire used to be good too, but now they don't handle their RMAs themselves anymore, they have another company that handles that for them, which is a real pain to deal with.
And this is coming from someone who owns 2x Sapphire cards and 2x XFX cards...
For ATi, MSI makes the best cards and VisionTek has the best warranty for now.
I can get a asus 5870 for AU$476 which has a 3 year warranty, or I could pay AU$509 for a xfx. is there any other benefits of the xfx over an asus aside from the warranty?
i've register my Zotac Gtx470 to ther official site and im still waiting them to activate my account. it's been a week ! the email goes: (from 17/06) still no any other email
Awesome. I like companies like this one. I bought an ULTRA PSU, registered it online right away & I believe I do have a LIFE TIME warranty on it which is pretty sweeet!
Zotac sucks they manufacturing products are shit if you want quality and good warranty evga is the best or xfx is my other option for quality price and warranty =)
I had my Zotac 9800GT die on me. That was a heluva problem back then, I had to send it all the way to Toronto to have it replaced. I'd recommend too if you buy zotac, get better warranty.
There's a reason why the EVGA cards are a bit pricier than bargain basement brands like PNY. Their cards are not necessarily better (they're marketed pretty well though), but their SUPPORT system when something goes wrong is better. They have 24/7 oh-shit-you-fucked-something-up-in-the-middle-of-the-night PHONE support. They have standard RMA that lasts a lifetime which is fairly straightforward to go with. They have CROSS-SHIPPING for a small extra fee. Plus their NA support is awesome.
@AreleEvE for ati it is DEFINATELY not xfx, i had bad experience with them >.> go visiontek or something else...anything but XFX and sapphire..i don't know about the rest... i got an evga gtx480 now :D
Go with EVGA! They have both lifetime warranty and 90 day step up program. They will even cover your card if you overclock it or repalce cooling system
@Teddy1307 A Return Material Authorization (RMA) is a transaction whereby the recipient of a product arranges to return goods to the supplier to have the product repaired or replaced or in order to receive a refund or credit for another product from the same retailer or corporation within the product's warranty period.
