Regarding the layout wait and see what happens AFTER the pilot. When the pilot was shot they don't just automatically build sets they use real locations to save money. Thus two different houses were used for the Southfork interior. It's possible they fixed the layout once the series was picked up and the actual sets were built. I know from the pictures that the set fireplace is entirely different then the one in the pilot.

you've Screwed up the layout of Southfork!! why is there a window where there should be a wall and door to the Kitchen!!! new fans may not know the difference, but those of us who made Dallas what is was can see that this set is most certainly NOT Southfork!!!

@GayHDman I know. REAL Dallas fans (the ones Patrick claims he'll deliver with Larry and Linda) noticed the backward layout of Southfork the second that clip was aired. The producers know Dallas has a cult following and that details matter to them. Knowingly screwing up the simple layout of Ewing mansion at SF is neither necessary nor trivial. They should have the exact layout, and dimensions of the original sets, with updated furniture. That's Dallas.
