Crikey, are regulators that expensive?? I'm developing an interest in the uilleann pipes to play as part of a contemporary band (electric guitar, drums, keyboard etc) principally for the novelty of it and because I like the sound. What are the chances of building ones own regulators (and then possibly arranging for them to be electrically driven and operated by footpedal switches)?
Not really sure..sounds like it could be difficult. Building regs would require as much money in tools as it would to purchase them from a maker. Wouldn't have a clue about how to rig them up to footpedals etc. Sorry :-)
Thanks, not sure what you mean. The drones are playing for the entire tune from beginning to end. Do you mean you'd like me to turn them on and off again at different places?
I think so , I know that it's possible to play on the "regulators" of the drones. As you move the hand on them, you can play on them as if the drones are musical Instrument. Try to combine this with in your music, and your music will sound better.
You need to learn a bit more about the pipes. The drones (which I have) are completely different from the regulators (which I don't have). When I have a spare $3500 to add regulators, then I can make my music sound better for you :-)
Sorry if I oblige you do this. I don't want you to fell that I am obliging you play as I recommend you. I only expressed my opinion and recommended you, but you don't need to do it. I just said that it can make you music better. Sorry again, I will be happy to hear but It's just my opinion.

(Bear in mind I've never touched any kind of bagpipe set. I think I might have heard a live uilleann bagpipe once though, but not in this century...)

Very good performance! It would be better to play sometimes on the drones.
