When the Dodgers moved to LA, there was controversy about where they'd play while Dodger Stadium was being built. The existing ballpark was very small and the Coliseum wasn't designed for baseball. But they somehow found a way to play in the Coliseum and did so for 4 seasons.

Hate the backdrop curtain, but love the show. Thanx to crepehanger47 for posting this landmark, which for whatever reasons, G-T never ever repeated. The announcer is Roy Roland, who (I think) sometimes announced for Lucille Ball's programs.

Roy Rowan was, indeed, the announcer for the various Lucille Ball shows, was also an announcer on the earliest radio episodes of "Gunsmoke", and also did commercial billboards and station-break bumpers [film-integrated, so to speak] for other CBS shows like "Hawaii Five-O", "Magnum, PI", "Dallas" and "Falcon Crest".

Not to be confused with the author and Life Magazine journalist of the same name, nor with motion picture director Roy Rowland.

Actually the curtain is a lot better looking than the bland backdrops they used in New York. It adds an extra touch of elegance.

I also notice that nobody asked for anthing to be repeated so they had better acoustics in that studio.

Yes, you are right. CBS-TV in New York took over some old Broadway-sector theaters of varying acoustic quality. In Hollywood, this is Television City, so the soundstages are all up-to-date technologically.

I would hope so. At the time Television City would have only been a few years old, right?

Yes.  Television City opened in 1952. This is 1958.

I didn't realise how tall Esther Williams was?! She's gorgeous here as always!

yeah, she's 5'8", and with heels she's probably 5'10"- 5'11". That was then though, I saw an interview of her that was from last year or so and she's in a wheelchair.
