@AngelicBeatdown I enjoy Max's books, but remember, he is just an ex-comedy writer for Saturday Night Live. I doubt he has the amount of experience that most gun enthusiasts have. Although he is right that the AK is less likely to jam ( and I would love to have one), In the US, there are soooo many AR's that keeping them running is as easy as legos. @AngelicBeatdown The AK-47 probably isn't the best gun in the world considering accuracy and such, but it sure has the best qualities of efficiency, like the guy from this video said: hardly jams, during muddy conditions or hard rain it will still work, you'd hardly have to clean it, easy to find mags & ammo, maybe the wood may be a pain on the long run (if it gets soaked and then rots) but ye, they don't say it for nothing that even a kid can use it.

@Tommy0145 The wood cant rot first of all. The accuracy is actually exceptional. It isn't the BEST. Every gun has a flaw. But in all seriousness, an AK-47 is the BEST AR to have during a Situation with Looters, Thugs, Gangs, and even Zombies AND Aliens.

@AngelicBeatdown maybe you miss understood becuase the AR-15 and the M-16 are to be used for urban combat so if you make your base in the the city(bad idea)you should use the AR-15 or the M-16 if you plan on makeing it in the rural area(good idea) you should use an AK-47 or hunting weapons, becuase AR-15,and M-16 are accurate and high stopping power but poor reliability

I understand why to bury them, but I think you shouldn't give up materials for a rainy day. I mean, if you put them out of your somewhat safe zone and you need them then you risk your life retrieving them. Also, if you are forced to leave it would be good to have them out of your once though safe place but what if you are unable to retrieve them. Then you lost them forever.

inverter could be one of the biggest treasures you can find (not that common), since you can use it with soo many sources to convert power into usable 110/220v for tools, appliances (boiling water, cooking, building etc ), you could possibly setup a motion detection with common security stuff thats everywhere - or use a constant solar charged fairly powerful light somewhere to attract zombies away from your location.

@devil0448 Small amounts of power are no big deal - even large power can be achieved with some planning and hard work - but there are tons of solar power cells and rechargable batteries around as wells as easy-to-make wind and human power generators using old exercise bikes and treadmills.
