@andrewxd56 Double click on it , in object mode, a window must pops up and check if it's really a mesh ( maybe you made it a group by mistake ). Then in point editor choose faces or use hot key - g ( not shift + g ) and choose the faces on your model ( sphere ) you want to extrude .Then hit X ( or shift + x if your caps lock is off ) and then left click and drag . That's it :)
i went to the art institute for a job shadow on animation and the girl i was shadowing told me to play around with this stuff on maya and i had no idea what i was doing but it was awesome lol
