I love George Younce, JD Sumner, Rex Nelson, and many others, but Dickie Freeman has to be one of the best basses ever. What a classic group. Thanks for posting.
we didnt have much growing up, and even though it was the modern age, we didnt get to participate. THE 1 THING WE DID HAVE TO LOOK FORWARD TO WAS GOING TO SINGING!!! I am so grateful we got to exp. good ol country gospel
I absolutely LOVE this group! I was first introduced to this group by my daddy when i was around 19. Im 36 now and my dad passed 4 years ago...listening to this now brings back good memories.
Some people might call me "racist", but I believe that these men have a richness to their voices that isn't matched by singers of "other races".......guess that migth just make me a "racist", but that's what I think!!!
I love this group. And this is the deepest base I've ever heard of. I wish I could sing like Teddy Pendergrass, & Ike Hayes. But also I wish I had this man's base.
No, it is okay. They reconsitute the members they lose as they either passaway or retire. In fact, they still do studio recordings and public appearances. This is one of those musical traditions that will never fade away and thank goodness that it won't.
Seen them live when they opened up for John Fogerty on his "Blue Moon Swamp" tour...They were awesome!! Have been a fan ever since!! Doo-wop gospel!! I love it! Wish I could see just them in concert!! They are my favorite gospel group, thanks for the post!!
I saw them on a special with John Fogerty. They're great. Here is my little attempt at a gospel song which I love.

This is hardcore gospel. No modernisms or attempts to make the message weaker so that it will have a wider appeal.
Wonderful!

@rickames He is very good and a very deep bass too.Check out JD Sumner and the Stamps. I think he's (JD) listed as the lowest bass singer on record.

The late George Younce looks as if he can't believe his ears. The Cathedrals reprise one of the F4's latest songs. And so did JD Sumner n the Stamps.

I have seen both of them and I would have to say that John Fogerty closed for the Fairfield Four.
It seems like J.F. keeps on doing the same old stuff and the F.F. are always new and refreshing. JMHO
