these guys are amazin a few years i went to an under 18 concert by them for my 5th birthday i think and they all signed a poster and christy even sang happy birthday thanks so much lads your the best
sometime you juts remember a song out of the blue youtube it and then on very rare occasions discover something new and unexpected and pleasing in this case i didnt realise they were irish and i am so proud we irish hav made beautiful songs like this!
They played twice in the Golden Ball, Kilternan, recently... Was blown away both times. The only bad thing was I was working behind the bar and didn't get to watch them properly! But it was amazing stuff all the same! Shoulda been bigger than U2!!!
What's with it, every time I hear Aslan or read about them, people mention U2. Build a bridge, U2 were always gonna be a lot bigger than Aslan, their earlier stuff was so much better, they had way more talent, style, better musicians, better songs.
Stop bitching that Aslan could have been as big as U2 if U2 didn't have money? Irrelevant, Aslan never made it outta Ireland, they weren't good enough, end of story. Stop comparing them to U2, it's pointless and meaningless.
If my memory serves me correctly, Aslan opened for David Bowie at Slane Castle in 1987. I was there and they were great. Good sound in that big arena. I soon went to live overseas and never got to see them play again. But i've been a fan of Aslan ever since and i'll make sure that i'll go and see them again.
Check out a documentary called 'Heroin: Facing The Dragon'. Its about a rehab place with monks in Thailand and Christy Dignam's in it. I saw it on Current TV channel 183.
How I wish I could see them place in the US. They are playing 2 dates in NY but that is world away... hope they consider a small tour through at least the big cities...Maybe a tour with A3 and them showing the US what real music is all about..
How I wish I could see them place in the US. They are playing 2 dates in NY but that is world away... hope they consider a small tour through at least the big cities...
Your a man among men Christy. You were so kind to my handicapped brother Aided outside Mc fadden's Studio at Hearts Corner. I will not forget it. Thamk you. I will never forget it. Thank you.. Mate.
@QuibbyFailed To answer your ???, Question. Christy and the Group, are just one of the most decent guys you could meet. We all live in the same area of Dublin. Finglas,Cabra, and Glasnevin, just north of Dublin City Centre.
My elder brother, who is ill, and in a wheel-chair,came home one day, after meeting with the group, who were taking a break from recording. The studio was owned by Brian McFadden from Boyzone.
The joy Aidan experienced could not be bought with money. I am grateful to Aslan
This song, everytime its played on the radio/jukebox, reminds our whole community of our local legend, George Johnson. He died tragically when he was hit by a drunk driver while walking home one night. Aslan was his favourite band and 'crazy world' was HIS song....never a dry eye when we hear it. R.I.P Georgie. this one's for you!
@TheAmy3338 yea he is clean, and touring ireland alot, or looking after and babysitting his daughter grandchild to keep him busy lol... so happy he was not another statistic for all the wrong reasons.
ASLAN are the best thing to come outta this country, savage singer savage musicians, savage song writers, and to top it off the soundest bunch of lads u could ever met, there are lads out there that are in bands a couple of weeks and they have bigger egos then any of the guys in ASLAN,I have met them a few times and they always take time to talk to there fans,Keep rocking lads
pity no one is buyin the CD's....its true...anyone under 16 these days..say "WHAT""? pay for music""?!? as in the UPC ruling in ireland yesterday...ie download what u like...say them live a few years ago..savage crack...
if u like rock music check out new rock band adrenalin from ireland with songs got one way & chink of light which r also on reverbnation & accepting all friend requests!
@caelano112 Maybe because more people like them? Not me I think U2 are crap! but you must remember other people have opnions too and in the majority u2 won hands down!
@caelano112 Simple answer, U2 made it big because they always looked abroad, they made music not for us but for Americans. It was a solid plan as they are very successful but they were never Irish unless it suited them to be. Aslan by contrast made music for Irish people because they are Irish and proud of it. I cant say im Aslans biggest fan but i respect them and like a lot of people on here ive had the distinct pleasure of meeting them. A more honest, down to earth group you couldnt meet.
@CaptainYossarian How does that hold any relevance? Music sold by U2 everywhere, because it was popular, they toured, they worked hard and released loads of material, good material. Aslan are proud to be Irish, so weren't successful? They weren't good enough, simple. If they made enough good stuff, worked harder, got out and toured, they might have had more success. They didn't. Not good enough. People have an affection so make excuses for them, say bad stuff about U2. Not buying those excuses.
@CaptainYossarian here aslan are my favourite band but U2 were always irish they just went to america and england to make the money and their name cause in fairness if you go to america and say your irish they love you but they were always true to ireland
@CaptainYossarian What complete rubbish- U2 made it big because more people bought their music. U2 are just as down to earth as Aslan, from the same backgrounds and area. You are talking pseudo nationalist trash. Aslan and U2 are both great bands, but don't patronise Christy and the lads by saying they have suffered because they are faithful to some "Oirish". Who the fuck are "us" anyway...and when did anyone ever make any music for "us"?. Gobshite.
@CaptainYossarian False. Aslan didn't make it because their band fell apart before they could have a long standing career due to Dignam's addction. Nothing against him, but he messed up. Many people do. Sorry to say it, but they never wrote music for you, nor did U2 ever forsake their irish roots. Music is a very personal art. Great musicians don't make music for somebody else
Love Aslan, and Christy is a gentleman. Have met him loads of times through my job and a nicer bloke you could'nt wish to meet. He has made mistakes in his life and is man enough to stand up and talk to young kids about his experiences and how he'd change them if he could. Top man, and show me somebody who has'nt fucked up along the way somewhere. Difference is most of us dont like to admit it.
Love this song. Reminds me of backpacking in Ireland and the locals in the pubs would go nuts when this song came on. At first I thought what the? But I was soon joining them. Have never heard it outside Ireland though, never found it on iTunes and this is the first place I've found it here in Oz. It was 8 years ago but it brings back some great memories. Ireland is a great place.

@gerrycostello now ya said it man ,u2 make me sick they lost there irish blood long ime ago bonos a moron the edge cant play n they didnt release good material in decades
@waller2476 U2 have released great material man. the last album was poor but over the course of the 90s and 00s they have been consistently good. bono may be a prick but the edge is a great rhythm guitarist, vocalist and can play other instruments. Having hung with aslan they are class but that doesnt take away from how good u2 are and Christy himself will say that.
