  • I HAVE THEIR MOVIES ON DVDS.......I TRANSFERRED THEM FROM TAPES

  • I watched this movie with my mom when I was a teenager. I so loved it that I never forgot it. Nelson was so handsome and what a baritone. She was a beautiful singer. They looked at each other as though they were really in love.. I hope they are somewhere together singing through eternity.

  • Thank you for reducing me to tears. MacDonald was one of the most beautiful woman ever with a lovely voice, fine technique and truthful acting ability . Call me an old sentimentalist but I simply find this so genuinely moving and it is incredibly sad that this 'spirit' has almost entirely vanished from our world. At least these silver-screen ghosts, prove that there were once giants around.

  • Ah....nothing like spending the sunday going through old movie songs for your mum on the you tube. My mum can remember every singer/actor's name and the lyrics to all the songs!! amazing. Great music ! My mum didn't sing lullabies, she sang these songs! so they really remind me of my childhood.

  • How good were Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald. More products of the 30s. No wonder the 30s were so good musically!

  • will you love me ever?

  • Nelson Eddy, so honorable, so true, so (no skeletons in my closet) Canadian. Great clip.

  • You may also find their movies on dvd at

    marqueevideo@live,com

  • They are (were?) available on tape. I knew an old woman who had the entire collection on the old Sony Beta Max, and had them converted to VHS. Tragically, after she died, no one was interested in them and they probably hit the trash.

  • its a lovely lovestory and its so real i mean the story behind this scene.

  • Those were the days where true Romance was still alive and believed in . I was not born yet but it took me by storm in the 60s when I was a child and still now they put tears in my eyes. I wish they would spend the energy to remake them in color with better sound DVD versions.

  • My mom loved these two. She would go to see them in the movies with her own mom. During her last years in the nursing home, I got my hands on as many of their films as I could to play them for her. This is my favorite and I would sing it to her, much to her delight.. Thanks.

  • It's hard to believe that one person can have so much beauty and talent! She also seems like a genuinely sweet lady.

  • IsabelleO: It'll be nice if you could upload Bittersweet, and I Married an Angel if you have it. Thanks

  • It's so wonderful! I've never seen anything like it...

  • Jeanette Macdonald was one of the most beautiful and talented actresses of all time. She had a superb soprano voice and was quite emotive in her acting style.

  • This is about as good as it gets for musical duets. The complete video for Indian Love Call doesn't seem to be available. Both are magic.

  • Beautiful...Exceptional,

    Thanks...5*...5*

  • The song I had been hearing my father singing when I was little.

  • PLEASE someone upload the movie!

  • love it <3

  • Really beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

  • ROSLY O FIME FOI UMA DELICIA////

  • Terrific!

  • I finally found it! I love this song.

  • Love it love it love it...They are amazing I just wish I could get all their movies.....Think I will start up a crusade and try and get some company to put them on DVD....Thanks for letting us share your movie.

  • Oh gosh! Maytime was one of my favorite of their movies when I watched them on AMC as a teen- and the saddest. :'(

I read somewhere that in RL they didn't get along- strange to know that when seeing them act together. Thanks for the trip down memory lane! :)

  • I sang this for my beloved girlfriend over the telephone one afternoon and she was in tears halfway through, but little did I know she had a recording feature on her cellphone...

When her darling Mother and Grandmother listened to this private concert of mine, they instantly approved of me :)

I love her so much, I've been blessed.

  • Yes I have heard that, I did find the site but I lost it, do you know where it is? Thanks

  • Don't buy anything from them, they will take your money, string you along and never deliver the goods. Personal experience.

  • I would love to know where you got the DVD please

  • Which movie is this from? I am trying to get all the movies for a friend of mine who LOVES them...so far she has

    Rose Marie

    Naughty Marietta and

The girl of the golden west (on the way)

  • Maytime.

  • I love this movie! They were great together. :) Thanks so much for posting.

  • please please some one put all their films on DVDS love them all thank goodness for you tube all in my favs thanks

  • Dove si puó trovare questo video in Dvd o solo un Cd con la canzone? Loro due sono divini! Grazie a chi ha messo questo video alla nostra disposizione.

  • My grandmother and I watched this together every May 1st, when they would play it on The Late Show. Now I watch it on Youtube every year at this time, with fond memories...Thank you.

  • She is gorgeous!!!!!!

    Great song....

  • They are the equivalent of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. This is a wonderful clip, I wish their movies were on dvd.

  • Moja mati je oboževala ta duet in pesem iz filma Beli jorgovan, a žal takrat še ni bilo možno dobiti posnetka te čudovite pesmi, da bi moja mama lahko uživala ob njej

  • Nobody could sing like Jeanette and Nelson. This is my favorite of all their movies together. Beautiful music and so romantic. They just don't make them like

this anymore. Too bad they aren't on DVD.

  • i WOULD LOVE TO GET THIS ON DVD .

  • Alas, Jeanette Mc Donald and Nelson Eddy alive and well on the silver Screen of Youtube. A site that was probably started for kids, but us old farts have made our prenence known with gems like this. Romance, beauty, great songs and spectacular voices. This is what the world was all about back in the day. How sweet it was. Too bad our kids will never know it. Enjoy everybody.

  • I think it very important to pass these things on to our kids so they do not forget them. I have three teenage daughters and I have made sure they know who Nelson Eddy and Jeanette Mc Donald are. It would be a shame for such beauty to be lost. :)

  • I wholeheartedly endorse your viewpoint. There are so many fine actors whose films are rarely shown to a mass audience. I'm so appreciative of YouTube and other video Web sites where we can see them (at least in part) for the first time or a revisit.

  • I promise... it's not only you old farts that love the classics :)

  • Good 4 u. Its nice to hear something possative.Enjoy!

  • from a time when dialogue, eye contact, and music meant so much than now. Though, today's talents are gifted. There will never be another Nelson Eddy and Jeanette Mac Donald.

  • axelmimi

  • Does anyone know why their work can only be found in Foreign DVD editions? They are remarkable performers.

  • I love this song and this film couple!

  • they never cease to touch my heart

  • Tommyboysailor what wonderful words, i am still waitng for my true other half x

  • Two of the most beautiful people that ever lived. their voices were truely amazing!

  • Me gusto mucho las cantes de eso duo; que Dios les bendiga siempre!

  • Eddy Nelson and Jeanette McDonald were in their souls actually literal TWIN FLAMES in love; that's why their singing of love rang SO true and deep with their fans. We all have a twin flame or other half; when God created us as balls of living fire, He split us into both male & female halves; since then, we have tragically, as the Famed Love Birds' movies goes, in the matter universe, we lost touch with our other self. In this New Age, we are meant to reunite once again as ONE and find TRUE love.

  • Me encanta este duo, k lastima k no pongan estas peliculas en tv.Gracias, que voces tan maravillosas.

  • Thank you so much. My mother and grandmother were both avid fans of all Jeannette MacDonald/Nelson Eddy movies.

  • Was the last comment about Jeanette & Nelson,or is this clip Roy rogers and Hopalong Cassidy?

  • This wpmderful duet introduced me for the first time -- I think -- to the word 'sweetheart'. Needless to say, at a Roy Rogers and Hoppalong Cassidy-age, such words were for only for sissies. That's why, unlike Autry and Rogers, Hoppy was the best! He never kissed any mushy girls... Viva Hoppy!

  • gee whiz, i am sorry for you,for what you have missed in your life and from these movies.

  • Gee, whiz????

  • I play this song on the first really beautiful day in the first week of May every year. Today is that day.

    To life's last faint ember

    We will remember

    Springtime

    Lovetime

    May

  • What movie is this from?? It's lovely.

  • it's from the 1937 movie Maytime :)

  • Setting the record straight-Jeanette MacDonald International Fan club was NOT started in 1937 by Clara Rhoades. The club was started in the Fall of 1938 by Canadian Mary Miller.Clara became a member in the Fall of 1949 and the 5th President in 1962.The club is in Limbo the past 8 yrs.Just wish someone would take over and get it going,to keep lovely Jeanette's name alive.

  • I'm just beginning to get into Jeanette and Nelson. It's so sad reading about their real life story. I think this is the film where in real life they had split up and jeanette got really emotional during this scene. their love for each other really comes through. You can't beat the classics! ^_^

  • Yes, I remember reading about the filming of this scenes, it was so sad. :(

  • enlightenment depicts that we cherish all for their individual pertinent roles and as such deem it unnecessary to demean the role of another. I do love Nelson and Jeanette but they were a part of time that is immortal and will alwaye be a part as long as there are people like us who appreciate them but we must inspire the present to produce similar qualities that will be cherished for years to come. I believe it all has to to do with the lack of enlightenment judging by the trash on the tv

  • Britney? Ice Tea,Fifty Cents? ...Real good roll models.Drug addicts,prostitutes,drunks & ex-cons.Nice entertainers,shame one takes whatever they're given!

  • Glawsny,

I was being sarcastic about Britney etc. I have loved Jeanette and Nelson for over 50 years.

  • Poster of this clip. How dare you ask this be put on DVD? There must be vaults full of Eminem, Britney, Ice Tea and Fity Cents not yet released to provide us with great entertainment. Where are your priorities?

  • LMAO good point,

  • Censorship in those days. 1. dont kiss with mouth open. 2. kiss no more than 3 seconds !

when you think about it, maybe it was the part of the magic in those days?. its sad its

not with us anymore.HAPPY NEW YEAR.WILL TALK

    LATER ABOUT , PASTSECRETS.*****

  • Nothing to compare to it.the singing of two

people who were in love in real life. No wonder they could sing like that to each other

aint love grand! j.m. movies 208 coming!

MERRY EXMAS YOUTUBE N.E. J.M. LOVERS PASTSECRETS.VIDEOS MY KIND, COMING 208

    MERRY EXMAS. HAPPY NEW YEAR.*****

  • Im 20 and I watched this whole movie on TCM last night for the first time in a long time and I remembered (no pun intended) how wonderful it is. It's incredibly sad that gems like this and other classic films will probably never be made again because today's audience likes gorry horror films and Will Ferrill stupidity. I also talk to film majors who have no idea who Mac and Eddy are. It's very sad and even scary that we have no sence of history, taste, or tradition in this country.

  • I totaly agree with you. I am a major classic film fan myself. I like nothing better than to sit and talk about the actors of days gone by. Each film had a story to tell.

  • Dear cda345

I am 63 and have loved this type of music for over 50 years. I am so happy some one your age is not jaded and can feel this type of sentimentality.

    Peace and respect to you-John

  • I have loved them since I was 14 years old. I think its a travesty that their movies are not on dvd. :(

  • I agree totally! Maybe some bright entrepreneur....?

  • Comment removed

  • this was my nana favourtie songs we play it at her funeral cry everytime i hear it bring bak gr8 memories of my grandmother thank ux

  • Thankyou spikesbint it is a movie well loved by my mom and I

  • I have just bought this movie and absolutly

love this scene. There is no true romance in modern day movies but this one makes the heart beat a little faster.

  • Spikesbint, thank you for showcasing the magnificent singing of Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy from MAYTIME

  • this movie made me cry every time i watched it, wish I could see it again :(

  • I first watched this amazing mystical couple when a wee lad in Ireland and fell in love with the harmony they depicted and now I am falling in love all over again each time I hear their voices. It is wicked being a romantic, a hopeless one at that lol. ah well long live romance and the magic of voices like Jeanette and Nelson. Tears flow every time I hear her sing indian love call in Rose Marie....... ahhhhhhhhhh oh sweet mystery

  • Well, I have never seen this movie, but again, adding it to my queue, as now I don't know if I've seen the end, or if something works out for the sweethearts. SIGH. I'm refusing to read comments, too. No spoilers!

  • Hello,

I won't spoil your enjoyment when you finally are able to see Jeanette and Nelson in MAYTIME (MGM 1937). My favorite film, bar none. Its a glorious film with gorgeous sets, costumes and heavenly music. Was originally to be made in color but footage was scrapped and story changed to what is shown in the 1937 film.

  • That was an age when dignity, decency were central to society.

  • I have loved Nelson & Jeannette almost as long as I've loved Fred and Ginger (almost 50 years!) Thank you so much for making these greats part of today's technology; I do my email while listening to these "sweethearts".

  • Thank you for posting this Spikesbint.

  • I think that this is a beautiful piece, but so heart breaking. I love them together.

  • So she feels obligated to marry that other dude?

  • i guess so, things were very different back then, people often found themselves in situations they didn't want to be.

  • I adore this film! Watching this clip brought tears to my eyes and a longing to watch it again!

  • How romantic!

  • Is "sweatheart" the name of this movie??

  • the song is sweetheart, the name of the movie is Maytime :)

  • nope it's Maytime gr8 moviex

  • Ohh!!! WHY won't the make them in DVD! I luv her and Nelson together!!! I owuld buy them all!

  • me too :D

  • I don't know about DVD, but I have all their movies on VHS.

  • To see this kind of love portrayed in beautiful music by consumate professionals is a gift....Thanks for sharing. These artists are a part of cinema history that every student of the genre should study.

  • i agree, and I wish they would release them on dvd, to keep them alive.

  • Jeanette is entombed in the Freedom Mausolium in Forest Lawn Glendale, CA Nat King cole is above her. She is in a double crypt with her husband Gene Ramond. She & Nelson truly showed a pioniant side of love that has long passed.

  • The best duo singers as Fred and Ginger were the best duo dancers

  • i agree, and I love Fred Astaire and GR

  • I love this film and loved it since I was about 3, 21 now, nobody my age knows of it but it is gorgeous and romantic

  • I know how you feel, I got into them when i was a teenager myself and not many people know who they are which is a shame

  • i'm 25 i was brought up wiv all the old b&w films it's t same wiv me my friends hav't clue who they r, c we were brought up gud lol

  • Gives me butterflies! Today's films are very

lacking in real romance and morality, except for the ones that Hallmark makes. This is love at its purest....the musical is unmatched for the emotions it brings out in you.

  • How wonderful....to shed 70 years....to feel young again...by seeing these fantastic artists...to hear their voices...thank you ever so much.

  • Awesome! That is my favorite scene THANKS! John Barrymore was outstanding and showed why he was such a great actor. I've got 6 of their movies on VHS. Maytime I bought off Amazon as well as their CD. Greatest duo ever - in my humble opinion.

  • lucky to have their movies, they really should re-issue them on dvd. I became a fan when I was 14, and later found out my grandmother had liked them :P guess its in the genes lol

  • Thankyou fpr posting this and if the movies ever do come to dvd PLEASE someone email me to let me know

  • Thank you for this delightful surprise. It is my favorite film of theirs. I am also glad to see I am not the only one of my age group to be a fan of theirs. (I'm 56)

  • More of the same please! Fabulous.

  • I don't suppose you could post the ending?

  • I wish I could, its beautiful isn't it. But sadly this is all I have :(

  • I like your vid clip and I've rated it as awesome. I've done another video clip on some old cigarette cards of 1930's movie stars, including: Jeanette MacDonald, Bing Crosby, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, Clark Gable, Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Greta Garbo,Johnny Weismuller, Gary Cooper and Carole Lombard.

  • they were great on the movie new moon.

  • Eddy Macdonald films are available on DVD from Amazon. Enjoy.

  • Thanks hadnt looked on there so again thanks

  • Not that I've noticed (believe me I've looked).

Can someone get Ted Turner to release them? He's released loads of other stuff from the MGM archives.

What I wouldn't give to hear those voices in remastered sound.

  • TMC shows all the MacEddy films frequently.

  • I'm in the UK so not so lucky here.

I've got some films from TV but they're no where near not up to DVD quality. Look what a bit of tlc has done to other films of this era.

Surely the demand, at least in the US is sufficient? I don't mind importing if I have to.

  • Yeah i have the same problem i live in the UK, but I would be happy to buy on region 1 if i had to!

  • I have always loved this film and every one they made together have them all on old vhs only hope they will make them on dvd one day so I can get them again.breaks my heart to watch every time even at my age 53 it gets to me.wish I had met them both.

  • Yes it is Maytime. It is one of those films you just have to watch all the way through. Sounds daft I know !

Apparently part of it was originally shot in Technicolor in 1936 with some different members of cast

and with the death of the producer Irving Thalberg it was abandoned and then re-shot in monchrome as it was cheaper to make.

The part of Archipenko was originally played by Frank Morgan and then by Herman Bing - who committed suicide some years later by shooting himself.

  • Thankyou!! if you do have anymore fotage please share

    Is this Maytime ?

Maytime and Rosemarie are my fav's

  • i wish i did, i love this movie so much!

  • I agree, I first caught them when they were showing a sunday matinee on the bbc, i was 14 at the time, years later my mother told me that my grandmother had been a big fan of them (as they were about in her day) I was pleased to know something good had been passed down in the genes :P lol

  • Utterly magnificent ! Loved this film for many years.

I had it on tape once. It was made years before I was born but I saw it with my Mother at the local cinema in the late 1950's and remember asking her what was wrong with the lady at the end in the last scene of the film. I will not spoil it for those who do not know.

I can only suggest see or buy the film for pure Hollywood magic. They really cannot make them like this anymore !

    Thank you.
