I know what you're talking about, but unfortunately religion is a complex thing. It's not always a bed of roses. Believe me, whenever I come across these shocking statements about Islam I do my research. I've questioned Islam many times, but when I look to the context in which beatings and murders are presented in Islam, it makes alot of sense. As someone who wears Hijab, (just started recently), I can say that its liberating for a woman and not oppressive; if it was oppressive by definition no woman would choose to wear it like I have. Is our way of being modest, just like how some women choose to wear full-sleeves, some wear Tshirts, and some r comfortable wearing barely anything. Every woman has her own level of modestly and should be allowed to express it. Stopping a woman from wearing covering and wearing a scarf is oppression.

Why are people saying he is misleading people. It's not like he's saying that women shouldn't wear the hijab. He's saying that women should be educated about the deen and importance of hijab, and encouraged to wear it. However, the decision to wear it should be left up to her. @proudfemale No actually this is not the filth of Islam, this is the filth of ignorance that people have brought to Islam.
I'm not interested in "showing you the light" or anything, but I hope that you're an athiest, because I would hope that people who believe in a religion, whatever it may be, would have enough respect for other religions, as I do.
Obviously, you're not interested in giving my religion the benefit of the doubt, otherwise you wouldn't have called it filth.

@fopower when muslims SIT IN SILENCE worldwide when girls already denied right to choose whether to be muslim or not or to make their own decisions way in life DUE TO ISLAM, then blame them for 'not obeying' for getting murdered by muslim males for things such as hijab, islam doesnt deserve ANY respect....and why would I give it the benefit of the doubt

@proudfemale You have studied it for years have you? Well, you can see how that's a little hard for me to believe when I have studied Islam for years and come to very different conclusions on it.
I'm interested in what your reference point is. Do you think other religions such as christianity or judaism are perfectly civil in comparison? Or are you against any form of organized religion? I'm genuinely interested.

since the reformation christianity is much more civilised that islam....judaism still regards women with contempt, like islam

I know what you're talking about, but unfortunately religion is a complex thing. It's not always a bed of roses. Believe me, whenever I come across these shocking statements about Islam I do my research. I've questioned Islam many times, but when I look to the context in which beatings and murders are presented in Islam, it makes alot of sense. It's still a little hard for me to stomach some of the things, but I still see truth in Islam.

@fopower Im not against any person 'believing what ever stories/myths' they want to...but I query your RIGHT as a muslim to be SUPPORTING THE DENIAL OF RIGHTS TO CHOOSE that islam inflicts on countless millions
I am against it controlling by taught fears/deceit....and having people FEAR/PUNISHED by it for things like 'eating during pagan ritual of ramadam', girls taught they are shameful and the cause of male sexual deviance etc

I've seen the hadiths that people use to argue the use of stoning to death and I'm not convinced that this is something that should be done, many Islamic scholars agree with me.

I can sleep at night because I have studied Islam and know what it truly stands for.
