i did a little experiment between Seagate 250 gb HDD and WD 250gb HDD i put them on a 24/7 5 weeks stress by downloading any movies, music, pics and Hardcore 12gb+ games. after a while i checked that both the HDDs, they both have theyre on system seagate on 1 pc and wd on another pc both has same specs. when i tried to transfer 50gb items on an external hardrive using the wd system, it gave me like 3mb/s while the seagate 50-60mb/s. any ideas?

It is advisable not to touch the electronic circuitry on the hard drive because there is an inherent risk of Electro Static Discharge from yourself to the vulnerable electronic components via the circuit board. This is why the drives are packaged in Anti-Static bags. All the best....

with the WD20EADS you might be lucky, but be careful with WD20EA*R*S drives in a raid environment !

WD has removed TLER support (time limited error recovery) from the firmware which is crucial for a lot of hardware raid controllers as it limits the response time of the drive while repairing bad sectors.

w/o TLER the drive will be most likely be kicked out of the Raid array !

the drives arent going crazy, the raid controller is going thru a self check and booting up. Somethings going on, is a drive fault, dude, if its quiet then no i cant hear it, why dont you just go for 8TB

Hello mobilitytoday? As hard drive capacities increase, the power required to run those drives DO NOT increase. Look at the spec sheets and reviews of older 7200RPM hard drives and compare them with new ones, the new ones will consume less power.
