  • Yeah, I don't care for it when people don't come up with their own choreography, but it's whatever. We're doing The Wizard of Oz, and we have a choreographer who is amazing, and never uses the movie as a reference.

  • when you get the rights for the show, sometimes in your contract is asked to do the show with the same exact choreography from the original production

    so i hate when people use the word "copy" its honoring the show and original staging

  • Apologies. Now that I am currently choreographing West Side Story, I've discovered that Jerome Robbins published his choreography which comes in the show pack. He is a legendary choreographer so I agree it is honoring the show and original staging. Also - I admire anyone that can interpret the choreography and re-teach it - not an easy task. I've chosen to mostly do original choreography but used a similar style and have incorporated excerpts of the original in order to honor Jerome Robbins.
