There's two quick scenes at 1:17 I see. The house sequence either a battle between mobians and humans in a human settlement or the ruins of Earth before. The scene of a mobian leaping down in a cave is likely from a battle inside a human underground stronghold.
Not really a fan of the war scenario. It seems like a very uneven fight in our favor.
I kind of prefer the peaceful scenario, where Humans and Mobians work together. We contribute our technological prowess, and the Mobians compliment this with their heightened sense of unity with the environment. Now that would be awesome.
It would be good but in the comics a war occurs. Actually the balance is swayed because although humans have war machines they're all old and disused. The Mobians have advanced technology and superior numbers.
It takes a certain plucky hedgehog years later for man and mobian to work together...
@bloodrunsclear Between the Overlanders, not the Humans though. Humanity hid in Station Square for 12,000 years. If a species is not advanced enough to keep itself alive in a closed environment and THRIVE for that long, I don't know what. The Mobians didn't even use guns for the course of the Great Warm which severely put them in a strategic corner. It was only with Kintobor's help with the SWATbots that they were able to push the Overlanders back, leaving themselves open to attack.
I'm not 100% sure that it can rival Star Wars, but I still think it can be a great concept. One main issue that this idea has is trying to make the audience ignore the colorful and watered-down version of Sonic that has pretty much taken over (you know. The version that changed Robotnik's name into Eggman? >_<) The makers of SATAM would have to find a way to reintroduce the series before expanding off of it, but I'm sure it would work. :)
Your narration reminds me of Kyle Reese from The Terminator haha. Great work, this seems like its really a passion project for you dude. Keep up the great work, human
great trailer! i especially like how in the beginning it seems like its telling the human side of the story but when he says "these humans" it switches to the mobian side. nice twist!
To think in the comic's it started (in part) by a Mobian kid and a Human kid playing with a gun. And the human's refuseing the offer of some Mobian prophet (for lack of a better term). Love your ending! Classic how most human's would act like that and the Mobian's copy it.
The mobians in my version have had enough time to develop their own culture so they're not just copying humans. They'd like to believe themselves morally superior but that's what this trailer was to show kind of subtly; that they are just as prejudicial, just as bloodthirsty.
Sonic later actually has to face the sins of his own past because Robotnik rose to power when the humans were abused and enslaved.
@bloodrunsclear Parallel devlopment, and in the comics they did have a culture of there own. In some respects they deserved what happened too them, bad kama. Wars often do that, in WW1 the first soliders coming back from the front were shocked by the lies being made about the Germen's and that made the later troops bloodthirsty. I might as well say it but the Mobian's were asking for it. And in WW2 after some psycho bombed a few citys we did it many times worse.
Ben Hurst didn't really play up the popular stereotype of evil humans and good aliens though. In one episode Sally talks about 'mother Earth' but its so phoned in you can tell the writers added it to appease some network executive.
To me the point of the story isn't pointing fingers, its reuniting two species that are so similar they can't help but fight each other. Like brothers or sisters really, only these are unfortunately armed...
@bloodrunsclear True, no one is inherentlt evil (as far as I'm concerned) it's often a reaction to something going out of hand (like a war). Your basis story is the human's come out of their bunkers and find that their mutated brothers are there and instead of putting one and two together they freaked out and thought it was like the Zorda all over again.
In one of the comics versions Mobius is actually the Earth after its nearly destroyed. Might have been the UK comics. I like that idea, that the humans and mobians actually share the same world. More of a close to believable plot and grounded science fiction idea :)
@EvilgidgitReturns yep.they got bombed by gene bombs and an unintentional effect happened with human DNA getting mixed with animals :)..i still read the sonic comics :D
This is one of those things, Those "Reboot" like entries in a series that is so different its almost unrecognizable from the rest of its series. But its done so well that nobody cares that it seems nothing like the original, because its awesome.
Kind of like the game Splinter Cell: Conviction, which was nothing like the original splinter cells, but was handled so well that it was awesome in its own right.
Very well done! I'm not sure I would want to see a whole movie based on this idea, though. Maybe a good lead it would work better, like the opening battle in Fellowship of the Ring maybe?
Anyway, great job! I look forward to seeing more of your movie magic :)
