There's also the steel wool and battery method. It's kinda cool. Take a 9 volt battery and some pulled apart steel wool and rub the steel wool against the battery to create a current. The wool will ignite and you can start a fire from there.

Great.. So when I am lost in the woods, I only need to find dryer lint, magnesium, flint, and a multitool to strike the flint. Awesome. I am confident I can survive now. Oh, can anyone tell me how to trap a wild clothes dryer? Or can you obtain the dryer lint from a more tame species of dryer?

Hate these videos already. Nobody wants to know how to start a fire with those stuff, like batteries, steel wool, etc. We want to know, in the case of an emergency, where all we can see is leaves, stones, wood, and water; how then to start a fire. I guess my garage will always be ib the area for me to get some steel or matches huh.

This is stupid!!!.. It is just like you have matches cause you just get a substitute for it.. getting margarine instead of butter..... What if i don't have steel and magnesium? Watch videos made by scouts in the Philippines. They really suits for survival. Nothing amazing from this video..

yes but when using the fire starter use the back of the knife, it works just as well and protects the blade

There is a lot of flint just waiting to be found in nature, once you find it just smack it on other different rocks and see which ones spark. The native americans did not have steel and magnesium/flint bulls*** from the outdoor store.
