YES i am completely and utterly convinced climate change/AGW or whatever its called this week is 100 percent verified after watching this video !!! The same goes for the science as well as all my scepticism over the science has now been dispelled !!! Thank you Marcus as you are a genius !!! and so hilarious and RIGHT ON !!!
You end the argument with a wager which does not exactly inspire confidence in your infallible scientific data.Pathetic in other words + a waste of bandwidth.
From Bridstocke's Independent interview on travel:
"I went to the Maldives the year before last… I've also holiday in Mallorca with family and friends.. I went to China for a brief working visit.. thought Shanghai was interesting.. Beijing grabbed me. My son, sister, niece and I were sea kayaking in Mexico.. Worst hotel? Varadero, Cuba. Favourite city? New York. It's a got great restaurants..
I'll be performing at the Volvo comedy fest in Mayrhofen, Austria, 4-9 April
@MMGWsceptic I think you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who is able to be avoid some accusation of hypocrisy, given that the problem is a direct result of the way our society is structured. Any successful person in this borked system has little choice but to travel widely. The alternative is, what, stop doing it? Personally, I think there's little more useless than a failed internationally-famous comedian. Me, I'm glad he's done something to counter the rampant denialism - like yours.
@pendantry Unbelievable that you're trying to make excuses for Bridstocke here:
He stands on stage lecturing people to cut back their CO2 emissions - the next minute he jets off round the world on another unnecessary luxury fossil-fuelled holiday .
> The alternative is, what, stop doing it?
Yes - if he believes what he's preaching then he should stop taking foreign holidays. Or else stop preaching.
The only 'rampant denialism' here is yours of Bridstocke's sickening hypocrisy.
@MMGWsceptic I expressed myself badly. Sorry. People like Marcus are invaluable; they help spread the word about where we are going wrong in our lives. It's true that his actions have the appearance of hypocrisy; but were he to stop, his message would also stop. In my view, he's paying far more than the going rate for his carbon consumption. It's the inequity of the true cost of the average aristocrat's private jet, or the holidaymaker's 'cheap' weekend flight abroad - these cost us the planet.
@MMGWsceptic Ah, you mean google search for "My Life In Travel: Marcus Brigstocke, comedian"? Hmm... cherry-picking, much?
"I rarely fly, for environmental reasons more than anything else. I take most of my holidays in northern Europe and I either drive or take the train [...] south of France. We drove from England [...] Brighton [...] Edinburgh [...] The Brecon Beacons, Black Mountains [...] bought a motorhome a few years ago; the journey has become the holiday."
@pendantry "I rarely fly" ?? In the same article he lists just a few of his favourite foreign holiday destinations including: The Maldives, Mallorca, Bejing, Shanghai, Kayaking in Mexico, Varadero in Cuba, New York and skiing in Val d'Isere. And he says he planning a long holiday to India.
And this guy has the nerve to tell poor people they need to reduce their travel?
"Cherry picking"? There's a veritable orchard of hypocrisy to pick from.
Poor little Marcus, in the three years since this rant, Durkins' film's claims have mostly been borne out. The hockey stick is a joke and we've had clear evidence the CRU has been caught cooking the books. This guy is becoming almost as funny as Rob Newman, or - in the words of Sean Hughes - a cunt.
I used to be in charge of a carbon offsetting programme for a major UK distribution company in the mid-2000s. After a couple of years, the board found out the whole scheme we were part of (supposedly planting trees in Bolivia) was non-existent & fired me for ‘incompetence’.
However, they had to pay for my silence with 2 years’ salary and a fantastic reference as they didn’t want the bad PR to get out. From what I hear on the grapevine, I think most offsetting schemes are like this...
Correct you are. Offsets are easy to fake. And since they are equivalent to permits, the concept of using them to place a meaningful scarcity cost on atmospheric pollution is meaningless.
However it's easy to see we got an dramatic imbalance in the incoming and outgoing infrared radiation budget of the earth, exactly in the spectrum you'd expect. With the global temperature raising 1000's of times faster than the last 8 iceages
its telling that the uk comedians are generally both atheistic and scientifically rational. being bonkers or in abject denial about reality is just not very funny. i dont know one religious comedian. comedy is always on the side of the rational.
its a shame weve also got a spineless tabloid media, feeding the denial of the low brow, car addled masses.
People are idiots in general, "GW deniers" and "environmentalists" both ruin their own arguments by being irritating whiners. This guy is hilarious but he's just pounding on the other side with no opposition. Glad you enjoy the video Superfreak, well done Marcus. I live in Southern Ontario, which was once buried in ice,how did that melt all those thousands of years ago? Glad you've taken a side, enjoy the battle, but I think both sides are bicking children now, and real progress has gone boink
@pendantry Thank you. I will actually look into that. Always interested to learn up a bit. Much appreciated. Oh, it wasn't a question I needed the answer to by the way, but thanks for giving me a lead and not bickering at me like most people online. I'll still check out the documentary!)
I really hope British people don't let the right-wing corporate apologists with their disdain for anything green, entrenched intolerance and want of a World beholden only to 2000 year-old superstitions, take a chokehold on your society like Americans have let happen here. It's just about all over but the shouting in America, they've destroyed the American middle class and perverted nearly everything that we're supposed to stand for. I hope there's still time for you to turn it around.
If Marcus Brigstocke says man-made global warming is real, then it really must be real. Marcus is a snotty, posh-boy comedian so he MUST be an expert climatologist. Don't listen to those know-nothing scientists who have expressed doubts about global warming, listen to a Marcus instead; after all, a posh comedian can never be wrong about anything

Pigstock is obviously jewish & is using his celebrity to further the cause of the jews.
There is no reliable data that shows that global warming is happening. Many on the panel of "expert" scientists are NOT EVEN SCIENTISTS - & many of them are APPALLED that their name has been included on the list as they DISAGREE that the case for global warming is proved.
Pigstock obviously has his own specific agenda - & it DOESN'T involve truth.
Global warming the money men are saying, needs managing globally.
If they weren't using global warming as the excuse to have a global government their 2nd choice would be ET's from outer space to justify a global government.
They preferred global warming as the carbon taxation FINANCES their global government too. Know what the chairman of the IPCC did for a living before becoming chairman?
A railway worker.
Eminent scientists all say theories are unproved theories. That's how science works
@getjiggy21 Pigstock? wow, you replaced Brig with Pig, you can rhyme, and make a "funny" joke at the same time, I was going to argue with you but I can clearly see that you are a literary genius
Thank you @JWBails. If Brigstocke was more intelligent & more aware of what was going on around him perhaps he'd do something else instead of being a comedian.
When people hear words of wisdom from comedians it shows that we are living in an age where we are looking to the WRONG people for enlightenment.
@getjiggy21 I can completely agree with that, Im only 16 but I can relate to the fact that our country, and nation, has quite literally gone to the dogs, People like Marcus Brigstocke and Bill Hicks had great ideas and points of view, and if they got a chance in politics, they could quite literally rock the world
But JWBails, our country going to the dogs is merely part of a much bigger conspiracy. Communism has always been mankinds' biggest enemy, yet that's where all this is leading us. The global warming fraud is to finance (by carbon trading) a world government which will be communist. Talked about for many decades with incremental socialism being the strategy that will deliver it. The Fabian Society (of which Adolph Hitler was a member but broke away from) is behind it all. They don't like exposure.
@getjiggy21 Hitler put communists on the level as Jews, I find it difficult to believe he would have been part of a communist plot to rule the world and personally I find Fachism far more dangerous
PS Marcus Brigstocke SUPPORTS global warming. Jews have traditionally always supported communism (Karl Marx - jewish. Leon trotsky (not his real name) - jewish. The 2 Milliband brothers - jewish. There are a few other government members who use false names to hide their religion.
Global Warming deniers are as delusional as Intelligent Design believers.
Global Warming is not a social corruption - there are no evil genii plotting to destroy the planet (unless you count the corporations that make their money from planet pollutants).
Global Warming is caused by our apathy and our refusal to change our ways regarding CFC emissions. The 'one person can't make a difference' argument.
@CaptainShifty54 I do count the corporations that make their money from planet pollutants. Our biggest challenge is how to stop them raping the planet in the name of profit.
What an evil plan!, the jews are trying to take over the world by making us buy energy saving light bulbs. DON'T SWITCH OFF YOUR TV,IT'S WHAT THEY WANT YOU TO DO.
You know the world is pretty messed up right? famine and war is above "Evil world leading jews" on my priority list. But then again, I am one of those "Sheeple" who couldn't care less about crazy conspiracy theories.
The world might be run by an elite, but they sure as hell aren't doing it by making us buy light bulbs.
But Liam, The global warming fraud is to give them justification to set-up a world management system.
That system will then assume more & more power while individual governments lose their powers to the global system.
Just like the foxhunting ban was said to be about the sport being cruel, it was REALLY about getting peoples' guns from them as people who have guns CAN fight back.
With the NWO there's always a hidden reason.
In Australia for example, the people fell for giving-up their guns ..
So people should have the right to own guns, in case the Government tries to take away our rights so we can fight back?
That isn't the reason why they took away guns, and when you think about it, what would they rather fight against, a double barrel shotgun used for hunting small animals, or an IED.
No matter how you look at it, if the Government became Fascist over night, people would still be able to destroy them, so who cares if guns are banned.
"One more comment along the same lines will make you look even more ignorant-and get you blocked."
BLAM!, here that? hypocrisy at it's finest, you argue that Jews are trying to silence the world and freedom, then you threaten to block me.
Look, go back to arguing that the moon landing never happened and that the Queen of England is a lizard, it's all you can do. If i have made a prick of myself with the comments then why do you have 7 thumb downs and i don't?
i think a lot of ppl get confused by denier ...i dont deny climate is changing..its quite obvious..but throughout earths history the climate has always changed..long before we were here...the question isnt wether its happening..the question is can we really do anything about it..i doubt it myself..just my opinion..but flame away by all means
The answer is actually really simple, we know for a scientific fact that mankind is releasing huge amount of additional CO2 in our atmosphere which we which we know for a fact causes our atmosphere to warm up. The problem is that deniers cloud people judgment by putting a lot of irrelevant variables into he mix like solar activity, volcanoes, cloud forming and long term climatic changes caused by the earth rotation.
Although all have a measurable effect, they are either insignificant or not relevant on our time scale. combined with, outdated data, misleading graphs and damn lies they are able to mislead even intelligent people into false assumptions
Not ONE of the deniers has put ALL the variables that the GW-theory supporters have done - regardless of whether that supporter is a working scientist or simply a nameless supporter with no credentials sitting on the sideline -
INTO A COMPUTER AND ADDED UP ALL THE VARIABLES! The deniers only cherry-pick. A computer - not even human credentials - is as objective as one can possibly get. Yes - SOME amount of credentials are necessary to program the computer, but, once Enter is hit..
@duck24x The climate is a chaotic system that cannot be modelled. It's impossible to know the intial values of all the variables - so any iterative model will accumulate errors and produce meaningless results.
Witness the failure of all GCMs to predict the lack of warming this century (despite increasing CO2) and the UK MET office decision to give up seasonal forecasts. If they can't predict weather a month from now why should we believe their predictions of weather 50 years from now?
@MMGWsceptic False. Where do you get the evidence to blatantly state "...cannot be modelled"? They're called the Navier-Stokes equations. Look them up on wikipedia. Scientists no longer debate the general trend of GW & increased CO2 concentrations due to human activity. You are just citing generalities. Everything you think you've considered, the IPCC & NASA have considered 100x over, in greater detail, and.. above all.. correctly.
@duck24x Evidence comes from observation of the real world, not computer models and equations. The idea that you could fully model the massively complex and chaotic climate with a couple of fluid motion equations is pure nonsense - as proved by the failure of models to predict cooling this century and the MET office's recent decision to give up making seasonal forecasts because they were always wrong and made they had become a national joke.
@duck24x Re your appeal to the authority of the IPCC who you say have 'considered everything in 100x greater detail'. You mean like their bogus claim that Himalayan glaciers would be gone by 2035? Like their bogus claim that 40% of the amazon rainforest would be wiped out by a little drought?
As for NASA - you can read about their appalling incompetence & bias at Watts Up & Climate Audit, eg. recently missing the minus sign off the winter temps for all of Finland - turning -10oC into +10oC
@MMGWsceptic Get this through your insignificant brain: words are also used to model the world. So, any time you or the other GW deniers make arguments, such as, "it was warmer in the Middle Ages" (or whatever), you are modelling the world. The difference is: equations do an INFINITELY better job of modelling things such as climate than words, because you can show RELATIONSHIPS...
@MMGWsceptic .. among variables that interact. Secondly, unless you've got the phenomenal memory to hold all the THOUSANDS of data points in your mind at once, as well as the known physical laws - conservation of mass, momentum, etc - that have to be incoporated into the model to LINK those points together, only a (super)-computer can do that. So, whatever limitations & faults computers & computers models have, GW deniers' arguments have 1000X worse the same limitations & faults.
@MMGWsceptic Thirdly, the process of drawing conclusions and determining cause and effect IS an abstract DEFINITIONAL process, NOT an observed one. The question is whether one's cause-and-effect theory is consistent (as IPCC's, NASA's) or inconsistent (as GW deniers') with observed data & known conservation laws. Doesn't matter how much you & Sir Francis Bacon would like it not to be that way, it is.
@MMGWsceptic (Thirdly continued): we can only observe a finite # of data points of ANYTHING (so this argument applies to ANY subject, not just GW). To fill in the uncountably many other points, is an ABSTRACT PROCESS INVOLVING MODELS & MATHEMATICS. But, since you take this process for granted, you & all the other GW deniers are too stupid to even realize that you/all humans do it all the time (again, for EVERYthing, NOT just the issue of the climate).
@duck24x You're rambling and sound completely crazy.
All I'm saying is man-made global warming theory is bullsh1t. It's a tax & subsidy scam on the world's tax-paying poor, by corrupt politicians, rent-seeking researches, profiteering NGOs and green parasites.
@MMGWsceptic Tell that to the people of Freiburg, Germany - world's greenest town (by almost any standard you can come up with). They'll laugh you out of the country. The town produces more energy than it consumes entirely with solar panels & SMART pyrolysis of trash.
@MMGWsceptic Yeah.. it's chaotic. It's also deterministic. (Those are NOT mutually distinct concepts, in spite of layperson's lazy brainless way of using them.)
Fluid dynamics is SUFFICIENTLY well modelled by the Navier Stokes equations. Just because we have not fully solved those equations - it's one of the Clay Institute's Millenium prizes - does not mean scientists & mathematicians have not been clever enough to get the info needed to predict GW.
Frankly, for a phenomenon of this magnitude and complexity, even peer-reviewed journals should not be the defining or utlimate judge of truth. As the deniers show, anyone CAN write one (i.e. one CAN claim to be debunk GW in a peer-reviewed ECONOMICS journal, for instance). No -for GW - one needs COMPUTER MODELS to add up ALL the variables. And, that's what scientists have done - and their answer is the same (as their journals): GW is real & serious.
2:17 You mean like the multi-million $ waterfront condo Al Gore recently purchased in San Francisco? Gee - he sure doesn't seem too worried about the 20ft sea level rise he's been predicting. I wonder why? Could it be for the same reason the 'eminent climate scientists' Bridstock worships so much have been hiding their source data and illegally blocking FOI requests? Because their data - like Gore's film - is a load of bullshit - and they know it.
It's funny to watch all the GW deniers rant and nerdrage, and I love the fact that all I have to do is simply ask somebody why they think the earth isn't heating up (as I did below) and all of a sudden I get lots of abuse from people that can't spell.
Climate change isn't something that was just invented to make you pay more taxes. Grow up.
Bravo, Marcus! Not all Americans are dumbasses. All the sad pathetic little GW-deniers making their insults here, refusing to address the science & data. They know they've lost.

Sub par 6th Form politics and most importantly not in the slightest bit funny, Brigstocke is the personification of middle class self loathing liberals consumed with guilt about his priviliged background, his barely contained contempt for the working class he is meant to love is a delight to watch (see his 'hilarious cutting edge' bit about immigration. Prick!!!!
Brigstocke knows nothing about what he is talking about - almost ever. A comic relying on writers he is the worst kind of flag waver for every bandwagon going.
"Lindzen hypothesized that the Earth may act like an infrared iris; increased sea surface temperature in the tropics would result in reduced cirrus clouds and thus more infrared radiation leakage from Earth's atmosphere. This hypothesis suggests a negative feedback which would counter the effects of CO2 warming by lowering the climate sensitivity. Satellite data from CERES has led researchers investigating Lindzen's theory to conclude that the Iris effect would instead warm the atmosphere."
"Carbon Dioxide irrelevant in climate debate says MIT Scientist"
In a study sure to ruffle the feathers of the Global Warming cabal, Professor Richard Lindzen of MIT has published a paper which proves that IPCC models are overstating by 6 times, the relevance of CO2 in Earths Atmosphere. Dr. Lindzen has found that heat is radiated out in to space at a far higher rate than any modeling system to date can account for.
If you can provide me with peer reviewed journal I would be grateful, I've seen this kind of material too often from Creationists/NWO conspiracists so getting it from a peer reviewed source would bring more credibility.
"Veni, vidi, viticulture - remains of Roman vineyards found in UK"
By David Keys, Archaeology Correspondent
Tuesday, 16 November 1999
"In Roman times, Britain had a slightly warmer climate than now; and, with 500 to 600mm of rain a year, Northamptonshire is at the lower end of the British precipitation range, which would have meant fewer fungal problems. The area would therefore have been suitable for grape production."
The south polar ice cap of Mars is receding, revealing frosty mountains, rifts and curious dark spots.
August 7, 2003: It's not every day you get to watch a planetary ice cap vanish, but this month you can. All you need are clear skies, a backyard telescope, and a sky map leading to Mars.

-There has been no increase in average global temperatures since 1998 despite increased carbon emissions.
Google Professor Richard Lindzen, the worlds leading climate scientist or NASA Scientist Dr Roy Spencer, who developed NASA's satellite weather monitoring.
Brigstocke should stick to what he does best - not being at all funny. He's also fat.
it is happening u idiot but ill be honest im not doing fuck all to stop it the planet cant be saved its just shaking us off its back itll take a while but theyll get enough of us gone to keep itself going

That was so unfunny it wasn't even funny. Typical midle-class lefty tree hugger. Now we've got the coldest winter for 30 years, and they'll tell us that's global warming as well. I hate greens, and yes, their policies are contributing to deprivation in Africa, but then why would they care about Africans.
I find it funny that you're going around so many Brigstocke videos saying how unfunny is him, even after you've listened to him before and deemed him not funny in your opinion. Well guess what, dipshit? If you don't think he's funny, don't look up his videos, you fucking moron! No one's forcing you to watch these.

I was reading an excellent Rod Liddle blog on him and had never heard him so thought I would check him out. I now realise that his fans are just as narrow minded as he is, and maybe less funny (not sure that that would be possible).
Foe the last few years the left-wing politicaly correct types have denied myself and others any voice at all, we have been shouted down at every opportunity, now the boot is on the other foot, the lefties don't like it up 'em.
does Marcus really think that our leareds give a flying fuck about the enviroment, he is right they give a giant dirty fuck about building an enviroment of cetralised power, the WHO said that food prices have doubled on the world scale over the last year due to Climate policies so while these moronic cunts speechify about saving the world they are killing African people every second
I think the leaked CRU emails prove it is a conspiracy. What have you got to gain from this conspiracy? There are trillions to be made from Global Warming. TRILLIONS! Jobs in environmental journalism, science, green/CO2 industry etc. Silly little middle class twats saving the planet, oh please! Science shows the global temperature has fallen in the last 10 years but that has only become public since this smarmy pillock made this skit. The skit is on you guys now, history shows you as fools.
it's true that the world's temp' has fallen since 1998, which was the warmest year ever. but since 97/99 the world has warmed. you can't pick single years / decades and then talk about climate. what have you got against using less fuel? - or is the threat of peak oil just another global conspiracy?
really you could say save humanity since that is what is at stake. Then again you get people like myself who think "FUCK THEM". we need to be saved but do we deserve to be huh huh? (to be said with a 1960's american cop show inflexion) i don't think so.
the only problem i have with global warming is people saying to me "save the planet". Global warming is happening but the planet is fine. The people are fucked. The planet will exist without humanity.
you are correct Venus exists without humanity just fine...what they mean is save the planet so it is livable. You could set off a100 thousand nuclear bombs and the planet would be fine. I think we might be in a bit of trouble though...
Ian Clarke the the guy who checks the ice core samples in the South pole said that co2 follows climate change the guy that stopped Al Gore from showing his flipped graph that showed the opposite findings.
I'm not depending on him to tell me what to think. I am merely wondering why people choose to believe something that I thought had been proven, if I'd searched for it on the internet, I'd have been given many biased arguments and exagerated facts.
So....... it was a bit tough to wonder through your poorly worded run on sentence.... I think you are trying to ask "I wonder why people debate something you thought was proven?" wow..... Hard to even know where to begin with you super freak...
Well done Marcus. It's about time someone stood up for truth and socked it those disgusting fossil fuel funded lobbies who spread misinformation. There is not a single international scientific institution who holds a dissenting view, how can people be so ignorant? Shows that public relations can be stronger than reason.
Ok all you guys who are going on and on about religion .... who cares. Not who cares about religion because alot do just no one cares at this moment i'm to busy laughing at this guy!!
I should make myself absolutely clear now: I do not follow any rigid form of morality. I support the idea of SOME areas of Buddhism and SOME areas of christianity. However, I make decisions based on the situation at hand. I do not believe there is such a thing as a God. I do not believe in reincarnation. I do not believe in Nirvana. I do not believe the Buddha was anything more than a man with some good ideas. Same for Jesus, if he existed.
Dr. Zbigniew Jaworowski--world-renowned expert on the ancient ice cores used in climate research--says the U.N. "based its global-warming hypothesis on arbitrary assumptions and these assumptions, it is now clear, are false."
Yes, global warming does happen however it is not caused by man, but you and darwinschihuahua can believe what you want, im not teaching you things for free. you quite obviously don't believe in intellectual honesty and will fall into the cult of personality of Al Gore so im wasting my time.
Not caused by man? Evidence? Regardless of whether we are causing all of it, which we are not, the undeniable fact remains that we are contributing a hell of a lot towards it.
Prof. Hendrik Tennekes--former director of research, Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute--states "there exists no sound theoretical framework for climate predictability studies" used for global warming forecasts.
Prof. Paul Reiter--Chief of Insects and Infectious Diseases at the famed Pasteur Institute--says "no major scientist with any long record in this field" accepts Al Gore's claim that global warming spreads mosquito-borne diseases.
Dr. Edward Wegman--former chairman of the Committee on Applied and Theoretical Statistics of the National Academy of Sciences--demolishes the famous "hockey stick" graph that launched the global warming panic.
Dr. David Bromwich--president of the International Commission on Polar Meteorology--says "it's hard to see a global warming signal from the mainland of Antarctica right now."
Nevermind inaccurate science, solar flares, a weakening magnetosphere and martian ice caps that are melting, if Al Gore says it, it must be fucking true...
The only people who are benfiting from this phony environmentalism are the monopolistic corporations(+Al Gore), the same ones who do most of the real polluting.
I im only going on what other people more informed than me are saying, so by calling what i say stupid you are by extension calling many thousands of respected sceintists who don't believe the hype, for instance;
"Richard Siegmund Lindzen (born February 8, 1940, Webster, Massachusetts) is a Harvard trained atmospheric physicist and Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Meteorology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology"
In an article for the Wall Street Journal (June 11, 2001), Lindzen stated that "there is no consensus, unanimous or otherwise, about long-term climate trends and what causes them" and "I cannot stress this enough -- we are not in a position to confidently attribute past climate change to carbon dioxide or to forecast what the climate will be in the future"
'It IS our fault, but what's the point in doing anything because China isn't, Richard Littlejohn you hate-filled swine, I know where that's where you're hiding, come out you vicious little prick.'
Climate has been changing ever since the our sun and our earth has been here. Britain used to be a tropical climate many hundreds of millions of years ago before humans even existed, now it isn't because the climate changed.
There's your proof that humans are not causing global warming. Get over it.
The reason Britain used to be a desert is because it used to be near the equator! Have you never heard of plate tectonics? Pangea? All land was once in the southern hemisphere, and before that, it was two supercontinents of roughly equal size.
The person who suggested that hypothesis is called Khabibullo Abdusamatov. He has not peer-reviewed his work. The Sunday Times, however respectable, is not a peer-reviewed journal and as such it can put garbage in if it wants. So far, no one has presented proper evidence against global warming. As soon as it could be demonstrated that global warming was not affected by human activity, it would be dropped instantly, much to the relief of pretty much the entire world.
There are plenty of scientists who are much more capable and objective than you, i suppose you just write off world renowned scientists like Richard Linzen for example. Of course i believe in plate tectonics, yet they happen over such a long period of time im suprised you would embarass yourself and link them to debate about climate change. The science against man made global warming is massive, but obviously Al Gores thoroughly comical and debunked hockey stick graph is enough to convince you.
The fact remains that there are far more scientists who believe it is happening.
You are beginning to sound like a creationist, quoting a few dishonest, media-hungry scientists who have not had their work peer-reviewed instead of looking at the vast majority.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
lol a creationist? Well at least i question how life was created unlike you the utterly confused buddhist/atheist.
"Conjecture about [the origin, etc., of] the world is an unconjecturable that is not to be conjectured about, that would bring madness & vexation to anyone who conjectured about it. .
PS The idea that CO2 causes global warming is probably the least highly regarded hypothesis in the science community, your just embarassing your self.
I was comparing your tactics to those of a creationist, not calling you a creationist.
Anyway, maybe you should do a little research. All it takes is a wikipedia search to find the following statement:
"Environmental groups, many governmental reports, and the non-U.S. media often state that there is virtually unanimous agreement in the scientific community in support of human-caused global warming, although there is less agreement on the specific consequences of this warming"
There is no other requirement to meet the specification.
I am only Buddhist to the extent that I agree with the 5 precepts. I am Buddhist in no other way. By that logic, I am also partly Christian, Hindu, Taoist, Humanist and many more, some of which are unknown to me.
I support the Buddhist ideas of morality, not their spiritual beliefs.
What your saying is that your so incapable of critical thinking and initiative that you need religion to tell you how to be good. I know myself not rape, steal and murder because i wouldn't want it to happen to me, i don't need some archaic mysticism to tell me that. I suggest you say you follow Buddhism because you want to look cool, and to that i would say grow up.
I said that I support/agree with what they say. At no point did I say I "follow" Buddhism.
I do not derive my morality from buddhism. I had a fairly similar system before I even heard of the 5 precepts, but as I said, I still support part of what it says, as it reflects my moral system which I already had in place.

Me, I'm glad he's done something to counter the rampant denialism - like yours.
pendantry 7 months ago

However, they had to pay for my silence with 2 years’ salary and a fantastic reference as they didn’t want the bad PR to get out. From what I hear on the grapevine, I think most offsetting schemes are like this...

@SuperTruth77

@getjiggy21 I can completely agree with that, Im only 16 but I can relate to the fact that our country, and nation, has quite literally gone to the dogs, People like Marcus Brigstocke and Bill Hicks had great ideas and points of view, and if they got a chance in politics, they could quite literally rock the world
JWBails 1 year ago
But JWBails, our country going to the dogs is merely part of a much bigger conspiracy. Communism has always been mankinds' biggest enemy, yet that's where all this is leading us. The global warming fraud is to finance (by carbon trading) a world government which will be communist. Talked about for many decades with incremental socialism being the strategy that will deliver it. The Fabian Society (of which Adolph Hitler was a member but broke away from) is behind it all. They don't like exposure.

That system will then assume more & more power while individual governments lose their powers to the global system.
Just like the foxhunting ban was said to be about the sport being cruel, it was REALLY about getting peoples' guns from them as people who have guns CAN fight back.
With the NWO there's always a hidden reason.
In Australia for example, the people fell for giving-up their guns ..
getjiggy21 1 year ago
@getjiggy21
So people should have the right to own guns, in case the Government tries to take away our rights so we can fight back?
That isn't the reason why they took away guns, and when you think about it, what would they rather fight against, a double barrel shotgun used for hunting small animals, or an IED.
No matter how you look at it, if the Government became Fascist over night, people would still be able to destroy them, so who cares if guns are banned.

noobadoc 1 year ago
The answer is actually really simple, we know for a scientific fact that mankind is releasing huge amount of additional CO2 in our atmosphere which we which we know for a fact causes our atmosphere to warm up. The problem is that deniers cloud people judgment by putting a lot of irrelevant variables into he mix like solar activity, volcanoes, cloud forming and long term climatic changes caused by the earth rotation.

Superfreak937 1 year ago 59
Not ONE of the deniers has put ALL the variables that the GW-theory supporters have done - regardless of whether that supporter is a working scientist or simply a nameless supporter with no credentials sitting on the sideline -
INTO A COMPUTER AND ADDED UP ALL THE VARIABLES! The deniers only cherry-pick. A computer - not even human credentials - is as objective as one can possibly get. Yes - SOME amount of credentials are necessary to program the computer, but, once Enter is hit..
duck24x 1 year ago
@duck24x The climate is a chaotic system that cannot be modelled. It's impossible to know the intial values of all the variables - so any iterative model will accumulate errors and produce meaningless results.
Witness the failure of all GCMs to predict the lack of warming this century (despite increasing CO2) and the UK MET office decision to give up seasonal forecasts. If they can't predict weather a month from now why should we believe their predictions of weather 50 years from now?
MMGWsceptic 1 year ago
@MMGWsceptic False. Where do you get the evidence to blatantly state "...cannot be modelled"? They're called the Navier-Stokes equations. Look them up on wikipedia. Scientists no longer debate the general trend of GW & increased CO2 concentrations due to human activity. You are just citing generalities. Everything you think you've considered, the IPCC & NASA have considered 100x over, in greater detail, and.. above all.. correctly.
duck24x 1 year ago
@duck24x Evidence comes from observation of the real world, not computer models and equations. The idea that you could fully model the massively complex and chaotic climate with a couple of fluid motion equations is pure nonsense - as proved by the failure of models to predict cooling this century and the MET office's recent decision to give up making seasonal forecasts because they were always wrong and made they had become a national joke.
MMGWsceptic 1 year ago
@duck24x Re your appeal to the authority of the IPCC who you say have 'considered everything in 100x greater detail'. You mean like their bogus claim that Himalayan glaciers would be gone by 2035? Like their bogus claim that 40% of the amazon rainforest would be wiped out by a little drought?
As for NASA - you can read about their appalling incompetence & bias at Watts Up & Climate Audit, eg. recently missing the minus sign off the winter temps for all of Finland - turning -10oC into +10oC
MMGWsceptic 1 year ago
@MMGWsceptic Get this through your insignificant brain: words are also used to model the world. So, any time you or the other GW deniers make arguments, such as, "it was warmer in the Middle Ages" (or whatever), you are modelling the world. The difference is: equations do an INFINITELY better job of modelling things such as climate than words, because you can show RELATIONSHIPS...
duck24x 1 year ago
@MMGWsceptic .. among variables that interact. Secondly, unless you've got the phenomenal memory to hold all the THOUSANDS of data points in your mind at once, as well as the known physical laws - conservation of mass, momentum, etc - that have to be incoporated into the model to LINK those points together, only a (super)-computer can do that. So, whatever limitations & faults computers & computers models have, GW deniers' arguments have 1000X worse the same limitations & faults.
duck24x 1 year ago
@MMGWsceptic Thirdly, the process of drawing conclusions and determining cause and effect IS an abstract DEFINITIONAL process, NOT an observed one. The question is whether one's cause-and-effect theory is consistent (as IPCC's, NASA's) or inconsistent (as GW deniers') with observed data & known conservation laws. Doesn't matter how much you & Sir Francis Bacon would like it not to be that way, it is.
duck24x 1 year ago
@MMGWsceptic (Thirdly continued): we can only observe a finite # of data points of ANYTHING (so this argument applies to ANY subject, not just GW). To fill in the uncountably many other points, is an ABSTRACT PROCESS INVOLVING MODELS & MATHEMATICS. But, since you take this process for granted, you & all the other GW deniers are too stupid to even realize that you/all humans do it all the time (again, for EVERYthing, NOT just the issue of the climate).
duck24x 1 year ago
@duck24x You're rambling and sound completely crazy.

duck24x 1 year ago 3
@MMGWsceptic
No, you're the rambling one. You can only provide conspiracy nonsense which have no basis in fact and insults.
kitchenaut 1 year ago
@MMGWsceptic Yeah.. it's chaotic. It's also deterministic. (Those are NOT mutually distinct concepts, in spite of layperson's lazy brainless way of using them.)
Fluid dynamics is SUFFICIENTLY well modelled by the Navier Stokes equations. Just because we have not fully solved those equations - it's one of the Clay Institute's Millenium prizes - does not mean scientists & mathematicians have not been clever enough to get the info needed to predict GW.
duck24x 1 year ago
Frankly, for a phenomenon of this magnitude and complexity, even peer-reviewed journals should not be the defining or utlimate judge of truth. As the deniers show, anyone CAN write one (i.e. one CAN claim to be debunk GW in a peer-reviewed ECONOMICS journal, for instance). No -for GW - one needs COMPUTER MODELS to add up ALL the variables. And, that's what scientists have done - and their answer is the same (as their journals): GW is real & serious.
Not ONE of the deniers has done that.
duck24x 1 year ago
I agree with Marcus: make all the GW-deniers live on the shore and let them drown.
duck24x 1 year ago
2:17 You mean like the multi-million $ waterfront condo Al Gore recently purchased in San Francisco? Gee - he sure doesn't seem too worried about the 20ft sea level rise he's been predicting. I wonder why? Could it be for the same reason the 'eminent climate scientists' Bridstock worships so much have been hiding their source data and illegally blocking FOI requests? Because their data - like Gore's film - is a load of bullshit - and they know it.

jakamneziak 2 years ago 3
you are correct Venus exists without humanity just fine...what they mean is save the planet so it is livable. You could set off a100 thousand nuclear bombs and the planet would be fine. I think we might be in a bit of trouble though...

I'm not depending on him to tell me what to think. I am merely wondering why people choose to believe something that I thought had been proven, if I'd searched for it on the internet, I'd have been given many biased arguments and exagerated facts.
Nice name by the way.

Well done Marcus. It's about time someone stood up for truth and socked it those disgusting fossil fuel funded lobbies who spread misinformation. There is not a single international scientific institution who holds a dissenting view, how can people be so ignorant? Shows that public relations can be stronger than reason.

co2 has a 800 year drag behind the globe heating up that is a fact.
But I must be stupid because marcus says so.
What a prick!
But it takes our minds off the rubbish and waste we produce and dump all over the world the nuclear power stations we are gonna build.
Plus a global tax.

". I follow parts of buddhism (like the 5 precepts) and parts of christianity (treat others as you would be treated yourself)."
Or how about just working out your own morality without relying on a paedophilic preacher or an archaic bit of text.
bettertobealive 2 years ago
I should make myself absolutely clear now: I do not follow any rigid form of morality. I support the idea of SOME areas of Buddhism and SOME areas of christianity. However, I make decisions based on the situation at hand. I do not believe there is such a thing as a God. I do not believe in reincarnation. I do not believe in Nirvana. I do not believe the Buddha was anything more than a man with some good ideas. Same for Jesus, if he existed.

Yes, global warming does happen however it is not caused by man, but you and darwinschihuahua can believe what you want, im not teaching you things for free. you quite obviously don't believe in intellectual honesty and will fall into the cult of personality of Al Gore so im wasting my time.
bettertobealive 2 years ago
Not caused by man? Evidence? Regardless of whether we are causing all of it, which we are not, the undeniable fact remains that we are contributing a hell of a lot towards it.

I im only going on what other people more informed than me are saying, so by calling what i say stupid you are by extension calling many thousands of respected sceintists who don't believe the hype, for instance;
"Richard Siegmund Lindzen (born February 8, 1940, Webster, Massachusetts) is a Harvard trained atmospheric physicist and Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Meteorology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology"
bettertobealive 2 years ago
In an article for the Wall Street Journal (June 11, 2001), Lindzen stated that "there is no consensus, unanimous or otherwise, about long-term climate trends and what causes them" and "I cannot stress this enough -- we are not in a position to confidently attribute past climate change to carbon dioxide or to forecast what the climate will be in the future"

Climate has been changing ever since the our sun and our earth has been here. Britain used to be a tropical climate many hundreds of millions of years ago before humans even existed, now it isn't because the climate changed.
There's your proof that humans are not causing global warming. Get over it.
DayveIsh 2 years ago
too fucking rite m8!
emckene88 2 years ago
The reason Britain used to be a desert is because it used to be near the equator! Have you never heard of plate tectonics? Pangea? All land was once in the southern hemisphere, and before that, it was two supercontinents of roughly equal size.

Why are the ice caps melting on mars?
"Mars Melt Hints at Solar, Not Human, Cause for Warming, Scientist

bettertobealive 2 years ago
"From The Sunday Times

Climate change hits Mars"
bettertobealive 2 years ago
The person who suggested that hypothesis is called Khabibullo Abdusamatov. He has not peer-reviewed his work. The Sunday Times, however respectable, is not a peer-reviewed journal and as such it can put garbage in if it wants. So far, no one has presented proper evidence against global warming. As soon as it could be demonstrated that global warming was not affected by human activity, it would be dropped instantly, much to the relief of pretty much the entire world.
nashertheatheist 2 years ago
There are plenty of scientists who are much more capable and objective than you, i suppose you just write off world renowned scientists like Richard Linzen for example. Of course i believe in plate tectonics, yet they happen over such a long period of time im suprised you would embarass yourself and link them to debate about climate change. The science against man made global warming is massive, but obviously Al Gores thoroughly comical and debunked hockey stick graph is enough to convince you.
bettertobealive 2 years ago
The fact remains that there are far more scientists who believe it is happening.
You are beginning to sound like a creationist, quoting a few dishonest, media-hungry scientists who have not had their work peer-reviewed instead of looking at the vast majority.

lol a creationist? Well at least i question how life was created unlike you the utterly confused buddhist/atheist.
"Conjecture about [the origin, etc., of] the world is an unconjecturable that is not to be conjectured about, that would bring madness & vexation to anyone who conjectured about it. .
PS The idea that CO2 causes global warming is probably the least highly regarded hypothesis in the science community, your just embarassing your self.
bettertobealive 2 years ago
I was comparing your tactics to those of a creationist, not calling you a creationist.
Anyway, maybe you should do a little research. All it takes is a wikipedia search to find the following statement:
"Environmental groups, many governmental reports, and the non-U.S. media often state that there is virtually unanimous agreement in the scientific community in support of human-caused global warming, although there is less agreement on the specific consequences of this warming"

And stop calling yourself an atheist, not one part about you is atheist. You pander to the church of popular opinion(and buddhism).
bettertobealive 2 years ago
I do not believe in God. Therefore I am Atheist.
There is no other requirement to meet the specification.
I am only Buddhist to the extent that I agree with the 5 precepts. I am Buddhist in no other way. By that logic, I am also partly Christian, Hindu, Taoist, Humanist and many more, some of which are unknown to me.
I support the Buddhist ideas of morality, not their spiritual beliefs.
nashertheatheist 2 years ago 6
What your saying is that your so incapable of critical thinking and initiative that you need religion to tell you how to be good. I know myself not rape, steal and murder because i wouldn't want it to happen to me, i don't need some archaic mysticism to tell me that. I suggest you say you follow Buddhism because you want to look cool, and to that i would say grow up.
bettertobealive 2 years ago
Sigh.
I said that I support/agree with what they say. At no point did I say I "follow" Buddhism.
I do not derive my morality from buddhism. I had a fairly similar system before I even heard of the 5 precepts, but as I said, I still support part of what it says, as it reflects my moral system which I already had in place.
Do I need to clarify it even further for you?
