  • OMG!!!!

    you are amazazing!!!!!!

its a beautiful talent you have there :)

  • wOw

    it's amazing

    and you're so sweet

    <3

  • This is one of my favorite tracks from you, with or without lyrics if i had the means to buy it, i would.

  • i would only suggest you add lyrics bcuz i love listening to your voice...either way...awesome

  • Yes on the instermentals (no on spelling :P)

Normally before I really get into a song,I just sit (or normally lie) and listen to the song, not really paying atention to the words.I have no idea how many times I've gone on to your MySpace and just listened to your songs, yet if I heard them on the raido,I would only recognise them for your voice.

  • This is great really. It hink it would work both ways. Amazing without lyrics and if you add lyrics they really have to measure up to the guitar cause it's great!

  • I love instrumental guitar! it's really relaxing to listen to it and go about doing other things, especially reading/writing.

  • how does this video not have a million views. I listen to it all the time and it is great, people need to know .

  • love it

  • WOW haha

  • I like it without lyrics...

  • wow i like it!

  • You've got skill. More than me.

  • Okay, so now I sound like shit... ;)

I went and dropped it to open D, but the crossnote one, where you have it as minor and you can add the extra note for major, and I was playing around and then I decided to go try to learn something someone else is doing on youtube and then I was like... crap! :( THANKS A LOT!

It's really cool, I'll get it soon enough.. or at least close enough to sound good. :)

Best bet for selling is an instrumental CD.. and another one for lyrical songs...

  • marry me

  • truly inspiring

  • I am very impressed with your playing and your writing abilities. Very well done! I play exclusively in Open D tuning and I'm glad I found your video. I subscribed to your channel. Keep it up! Check out some of my videos too if you're interested.

    Dropjaw Bertone

  • w/ or w/o lyrics it would be gr8. add the lyrics in anyway to see how the end product is gonna be

  • David, You remind me of a young Steve Howe in this latest composition. Great use of harmonics. I do not know if you are familiar with his work so I put a song on the main video of my channel which you will likely connect with. Your song is reminiscent of this and brings me back to the days when I listened to the band 'Yes'. I put a few others in my favourites which also illustrate this style. I quite enjoy artists who create instrumentals. Truly relaxing. I have favorited yours mate :)

  • yes

    i would buy it

    no lyrics and all

    i would buy it

  • it's amazing just the way it is!

    no lyrics..=]

  • you've seen august rush right?? this reminds me of that part where the little boy plays the guitar. this is just perfect without lyrics and i would be willing to buy it!! music is music. and this right here is good, no...brilliant music!! ^.^

  • Dave - please, please profesionally record this. Instrumental. No lyrics. It's perfect without mate. Would DEFINITELY buy it.

  • i'm officialy in love with this guy's songs, videos, everything :)

  • I love this piece.

I think it sounds great as is.

  • I think this is beautiful as it is...adding words would just take away from it. With that said, I wouldn't be less likely to buy it. I may actually even prefer it? That's probably one of the reasons I like Sigur Ros so much, because that they rely much more on their music than lyrics. But, some people are just lyric people, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes I feel lyrics can be pretentious and forced, though, and just don't work with the music itself. Okay, that's all. :)

  • i think it is amazing as is and i would buy this version right now. :] but there is the factor of how amazing it is just to watch you play it.

i'd be interested to hear what lyrics you'd add to it.

  • Wow...

  • id buy it TWICE! :DD

  • I would buy it. I like instrumental tracks a lot especially if they are very good which this is soooo...yes.

  • RESPECT

  • nough said

  • I'd probaby be more likely to buy it just because it sounds amazing the way it is :)

not that it wouldnt sound good with lyrics though <3

  • I think every good album or ep needs an instrumental.. I like this particular song without vocals

  • BRILL MAN BRILL

  • my mind has been fucking blown. this song is beautiful. in no way would i be deterred from buying this if it remained an instrumental, but i am curious what you plan on doing with it. my vote goes for a release of both.

  • Release both? =D

Finish this instrumental up and then put up lyrics to it. I think I would love it either way but options are LOVELY. =]

  • Normally i do like normal songs better, but in THIS case i think lyrics would destroy the amazing guitar-playing. SO my opinion. Leave it like this.

    x Caro

  • I much prefer vocal tracks, instrumentals just don't hold my interest unless they're a part of something - soundtrack to a film so I can picture the scenes alongside the music, or video game tunes that remind me of the gaming experience, instrumental performances of existing lyrical songs so I can sing along in my head etc. This guitar piece is absolutely beautiful but more often than not I know I'd skip it.

  • I think most people would agree. It's depressing.

  • I disagree with Alex. I have to say I like instrumentals sometimes even more than songs with lyrics. I like to listen to them while I do other things, that way the other things seem somehow more poetic. This one reminds me of starting a journey.

  • I like it! Would buy as an instrumental, but then again I would buy a track of you simply going "HUUUUUURRRRFA DUUURRRRFF AAAACK" And other such noises. Simply because you're, well, Dave. <3

  • For you, I would make that track.

    =P

  • i think some instrumentals are really better without words, so all the dips and rises in the music can really show. ah, i don't know how to phrase it. for this one i think it depends on the lyrics you would write. maybe try it with or without and see which one you like best? honestly, even without words this one kept me beyond interested.

p.s. the odor in my house is practically suffocating. for some ungodly reason, my mom is cooking stomach. write a song about that, hahah.

  • Instrumental music is great in my opinion. I think it would sell either way, but I loved this.

  • I think I already said something along the lines of this video/you being fepic/awesome/great/amazing etc. but to answer your question... No. I love instrumentals. They leave you to think and feel what you want about the music instead of being told what you're supposed to think by lyrics.

  • i think its a really lovely piece, it can easily stand alone as instrumental and i like it like that :) 1:27 <3 pleaseplease make it available to buy or download sooooon xx

  • I'd love this as an instrumental track. :)

  • that would sound awesome on a 12 string

  • love your playing....kinda like Leo K...but better

  • an instrumental version could express sometimes more then a "normal"song..your instrumental blew me away..it has so much feeling that`s why its not needful to complete it...

  • reminds me of a Badly Drawn Boy musical interlude. I like, should stay instrumental I think.

  • I like instrumental tracks. This is sounding brilliant even if it's half finished, I think I would buy it either way but I reckon you should go for an instrumental for a change. Show off your amazing guitar skills in a more forward way, if you're singing we're only really listening to that gorgeous voice of yours, so it'll be nice to listen to your hands for a change :).

  • I would buy it for sure, but that's becuase I appriciate music, all kinds of music. I think this as a piece says enough without lyrics, you just have to listen for it.

I would buy a whole album of your instrumental tracks!

  • also, on that instrumental question, at the minute i prefer instrumental music. stuff like 65daysofstatic, Maybeshewill, YouSlut! and also dnb and dubstep.

I guess it feels like alot more hard work goes into keeping someone interested without using any vocal hooks, or getting across emotion without any words.

I wish people weren't so afraid of instrumental bands. People tend to automatically switch off after a minute without vocals.

    open your ears kids!

    xxx

  • Ahh dude I haven't listened to dubstep since I left Liverpool! I knew a guy there who used to put on nights and though I was never proper into it like him, it was seriously good times!

By the way, the reason I've stopped pestering you to send me tracks is I've found a way to steal them! =P

    xxx

  • That sounded sweeet!

Use some of them riffs in songs! DO IT!

Open D is the best tuning for improvising and jamming without doubt.

Try DADAAD, it's my tuning of choice. The doubls A takes getting used to but sounds cool.

    xxx

  • I AM TRYING THAT TOMORROW!

    xxx

  • I tend to listen to folk and, especially, ballads. but I collect instrumental tunes to have mood-music on hand for a variety of uses.

I very much like the variety of talent you display, and have subscribed. Have you ever looked up Stuart Davis here on YT?

    ~ wf2112

  • Thanks =)

I have not but I shall!

  • On second thoughts, i think its just perfect as it is, it flows really well and I think itd be hard to get lyrics to match - is that harmonics round 1:45? its lovely, hope its up for donwload or even for sale!

  • I think its amazing just as it is, and I'd definately buy it, I love it. Maybe you could try and add vocals but make both available, or decide once you have two finished products? Either way, it's lovely :) just tell me where to buy

  • Instrumental. Although I do love your voice. It's such a hard decision.

  • it reminds me of Andy McKee's Rylynn.

  • I like it without lyrics.

    *favorited*

    eddwardo

  • I think it's pretty nifty as an instrumental.

For some reason reminds me of the most famous - at least on YouTube - John Butler Trio instrumental.

  • Beautiful! You should definitely keep it an instrumental. I thoroughly enjoy instrumental music. It says what words cannot.

  • lyrics would be to much... let the guitar speak your mind :D

  • Lovely =D My vote is leave it instrumental. It's beautiful that way =D

  • Very cool. Hmm not sure. I've never bought an instrumental song before.

But I did really enjoy this vid. I think if it was on an album and it kind of blended into the next track that could be cool...if you get what I mean...

  • Listened to this again. Love it like it is.

Great as an instrumental....has a nice Spanish

flare.....Don't need lyrics with this one!!!!!

  • This american likes this song the way it is.

  • Gawd this is wonderful, just the way it is!! Please don't add lyrics, although they would probably be great, too! But just the way it is, after listening like 5 times, the theme, the major chord/note progressions, and the ad-libs of something more profound........you have a hit here, just the way it is! Please publish it soon for the world......we will love it for ages!!!!!!!!!!!! So many thanks

  • I'd still buy it. Instrumentals are very relaxing and sometimes you just need to not hear words.

  • You are the reason why I went and bought a guitar. Im going to take lessons. You are a music genius. by the why the song is great with or without lyrics... you have a fan in venezuela kisses

  • this would be a great instrumental song

    lyrics wouldbe lovely too...

it will be loved either way :)

  • its lovely :) i say no need for lyrics - like most people.

  • I've just recently started listening to yours songs and I love them! But for this one? I say just leave it instrumental because honestly? It's so calming yet exciting, and beautiful, even without words :)

  • Ahh that's wonderful.

I'd buy that even if it was just instrumental, it's very calming & all lovely & that.

    xxxx

  • very cool

the sound is reminiscent of a certain andy mckey ;)

    i love it

you have got some great things goin on there !

  • It's so pretty!

I wouldn't mind if you just left it like this.

  • It's beautiful and interesting and just plain awesome, so I might even be more likely to buy it as an instrumental. Your words are always great, though, so I'll love it either way.

  • I guess It depends on the person, I don't know.. I would, I think, but I can honestly say that most people probably won't =/

though it would have to be some kick ass lyrics to measure up to this

  • i think someone could make a good intro out of that

i would buy it with or without lyrics its still tubemusic which i love ^__^

  • I love it just as an instrumental!! The video makes me love it even more, because I can see all your chordwork with the hands. When you sing lyrics in a song, I concentrate more on your great looks, and your facial expressions as you sing. This is a good break from the songs with lyrics, rounds you out as a more accomplished musician in the minds of all who are getting to know how truly talented you are!!! Simon and Garfunkle did instrumentals, and we loved them for doing it!

    Great stuff!

  • ha, the advert at the bottom of your video is "do you like high school musical?" ;)

And yes.. I think it's perfect the way it is. Would sound equally is good with lyrics, but it does sound pretty the way it is. xx

  • I love it. Amazing song.

I would buy it without lyrics but I still think it would be better with lyrics, as long as the lyrics were good!

    Awesome stuff though :]

  • there's a 10 percent chance i'd be less likey, but with those mad skills i still would totally

  • night dave, i think its great although a tad awkward in parts...like you didnt know where to go next maybe? but im sure it will polish up to be a showstopping instrumental.

  • this is wonderful

  • ohh i love this :)

    it's so pretty xx

  • an instrumental track placed as a break/intro/outro on a record with mostly vocals would be a nice touch.

  • i'm not such a fan of buying instrumental albums or buying an album for an instrumental song, so it would be my driving force. But if it came as a bonus track (best if hidden, kinda a surprise extra) it would be cool

  • sorry (doug) an instrumental *track...

  • As lovely as this is as an instrumental track, I think less people would buy it if it was just on it's own. However, I think people would buy it if it was part of an album type thing.

  • That was really cool; it doesn't need lyrics at all.

I loved how you used harmonics in the middle of the track, sounded awesome.

Btw commenters, a 'song' is a piece of music that contains vocals, ie its sung. Therefore you can't have an 'instrumental song'. =]

  • this, to me, is moody & cool; it would work perfectly as scoring for a film. that said, i think i have musical a.d.d. or something 'cause i need vocals when i'm listening to music, but that's just me!

  • I would buy this in a heart beat if it was just an instrumental track.

    <3

  • wah wah wee wah. That was nice.

  • If this turned into an instrumental track without lyrics . . . I'd definitely buy it :)

  • yeah i love instrumental tracks. I really liked that it reminded me a bit of the style of John Butler, check out his instrumental song ocean on youtube its amazing!!!

  • beautiful.

  • oh. my. god.

  • yeah i love instrumental songs

u can add maybe some drums and some bass

    =D

    i would buy this definitley

    ^-^

    -lewis!

  • i'd buy this as an instrumental

it sounds like a conclusional end track, and it'd round the album off nicely :)

  • Your an incredible guitar player, I'm pretty jealos.

  • This kind of reminded me a little bit of one of the songs in August Rush.

    I like it :]

  • wow...that was amazing! really beautiful guitar...and I wouldn't say that it's less beautiful because there are no lyrics in this one...it let's us think independently about the meaning and can inply totally different thinks for each of us...I think that's the most interesting thing about it! :) so what I'm trying to say is: this is totally something I would buy! x)

    cheers,

    -Jasi

  • that was sexy

  • instruamental tracks are the lifeblood of music

they strike up hidden/unknown emotions that are soemtimes hiddenso far down that not een those who posses them know they have them

    sorry for the spelling,

  • I have this weird thing that if i hear it without words first it sounds funny with them after, and besides this is full enough -it carries it's weight without words, doesn't really need them - and yes this is my second comment, I was in a hurry earlier.

  • Instrumentals are nice :)

  • aaaand i would buy it as part of an album definitely

  • although i love your songs w/ lyrics, i thought this was really good. sometimes you just have to listen to the instruments and not the lyrics.

  • thats was the most creative ive seen anyone ever get with open d

  • I really liked this, even though for many songs I do often focus on the lyrics. But I wouldn't be any less likely to buy an album with this.

Also, LOL at the ad that came up in the video: "Suck At Guitar?"

  • I would buy it, but it would probably be on my "studying" playlist, lol. its nice, i like it cuz in the middle of my literature homework i wont start singing (or writing) the lyrics.

:O im gonna go pick up my guitar now...

this really made me wanna play :)

  • i would probably still buy it, but maybe not listen to it as much. i just get tired of instrumentals a little faster than songs with lyrics cuz theyres nothing to sing along too

  • I love it! :) Very catchy lol

And question of the day: No I would still buy it. And if you get inspired to write lyrics then do it, but if nothing comes to mind I think it sounds lovely without them too. =]

    -Mel

  • Having this on the CD wouldn't stop me from buying, but i'd probably skip over it about 80% of the time when listening to it.

  • It could be an intro for your EP like in Coldplay's VLV and others. This instrumental sounds great, it has a Sigur Ros sorta touch, in their more up-tempo tunes of course.

    Regards,

    Bruno

  • Thanks for your comment on myspace, you rock! By the way, musicians would buy an instrumental on the spot, but ordinary listeners, especially young girls, wouldn't. Nonetheless, it's your cd, mate. Decision is yours. This instrumental rocks!

  • seeing as it's slow, i probably won't buy it.

i don't sound/feel hardcore enough listening to it by itself.

add some cheesy lyrics and we're good.

  • I would still buy it if it was lyricless, this is awesome!

  • I think it would make a really good intro to an EP or album. I would defiantly listen to it/buy it if you just left it.

I'm sure it would be just as good with lyrics too though.

Also, itreminds me of some songs used in the movie August Rush and I love it. =]

  • I think it's a great tune and it would be cool to see what lyrics you can put with it, but it's fine on its own as well. Basically, you could do anything to it and I would be happy with it.

  • I'm absolutely fine with a track with no lyrics. And this sounds great. There are lots of great instrumentals. I just wouldn't want a full EP with no lyrics.

  • simply lovely <3

i think without lyrics, it sounds amazing.

but i think it would be interesting to hear it with lyrics too. either way is fine, really.

  • NOYYYCEEEE, its definately god enough on its ownn if you dont wanna putm lyrics to it. x

  • Dude I'm kinda madly in love with this song the way it is. I think you should keep it and definitly put it on an album. I'd be one of the first to buy it.

  • it sounds great instrumental! well done x

  • Thank you for being....10 times better than I am, Dave. :]

  • ahh, open d is king <3

  • You make playing guitar look easy!

    I ♥ it and i ♥ you!

    I think you rock!

Again sorry for my political comment a while ago!

  • no way... i would definitely still buy it without words... it's even be fantastic as a hidden bonus track or something

  • this is really mesmerizing. i like the idea of leaving it instrumental. or if need be just having a few sparse lyrics at most.

  • For me to buy an instrumental it'd have to be a great one...this is great. Some things are better expressed through music alone without words....

  • I agree with one of the earlier comments about it sounding like driving music. I know it would be really greatto hear on a nice fall day when the weather is still nice but the air has that crispness to it. :)

  • Fucking hell, this is almost as good as a bowl of Wankabix

  • You make guitar look easy.

Here's an idea: Why not just keep it as an instrumental piece?

  • This makes me want to go for a drive :)

    Great groove.

  • I 'lessthan three' you.

  • so do i :)

  • B.E.A.- yoootiful

  • I love it even without lyrics...

    so good <3

  • heavy

  • Saw Celtic Thunder on my bd/nov.19 An awesome bunch of guys. Am now back seeing what my fav on YouTube is up to. Pretty cool stuff. I like.

  • Nice! I really liked the harmonics you added in.

    (first??)

  • awesome as always :]

  • This will sound really cool with lyrics! I like the bit at about 1:12 it sounds cool.

  • aw, I don't think it needs lyrics, I love it the way it is :)
