@fouayang1 I hav a 02 civic and I hav 18"s. They rubbed at first when I hit a bump but the tire shop told me I needed stiffer springs. So I bought Tokico struts and Eibach springs. The Eibach pro kit lowered the car but I actually no longer hav scrubbing
@xstr33tr4cerx no never put disk brakes on the rear. i just painted the drums and calipers black. stoped just fine. at the time of the video i had HP struts and Stech springs. later on i swapped them to koni yellow struts and ground control coilovers. i loved them so much more with the adjust ability of everything. i was using some 17 enkie FN-18, 17inch wheels and i loved those wheels and drop. it was really sick looking slammed and tinted out! wish i still had the civic but i sold it.
@xstr33tr4cerx ya it was really nice its only downfall was it was a automatic. if it had been a manual im sure id still have it. i put it back stock and ended up trading it even for my current chevy truck. i love the truck but hate the MPG difference.lol ive been looking for another project civic but cannt find any reasonably priced and is reasonable condition. to many riced out!
@addiction2bass yah i know what you mean man so many riced hondas that are over priced so i bought a 5 speed SE mazda miata i got it for 800 and reasonable condition some rust but in the normal spots brakes suspension and engine bay so it was a real steal for a british racing green miata. you should get the regular miatas are tops 2-3k and go as low as 500 used
destroying bodywork.... WTF your hella stupid, rolling the fenders is not efecting the outter fender structure! they have a L shape lip on the inside of the fender. all that rolling the fender does is bend the L shape metal more to a | shape so that extra protruding metal wont slice thru the tires when lowered.
rolling the fenders is not a TREND and will never go away. its been around since the 60s with people wanting wider wheels and tires. but back in the day they just had pipes
what is that tool called that you used??...and does this make ur fender wider or just rolls in the peice that clips on the cloth thing under the fender?? i don't know much about cars so explain it to me please and thank you
if its used, then that means somebody else bought it to rent it out, regardless of what they tell you. i don't know anybody that buys a fender roller and only uses it on their own car or friends cars. thats kind of why somebody would buy one, so they can make money on it. otherwise, just rent one. why pay alot more to do the same job? rent that thing out man!
@tyoung240 hell i did! why you think new ones are always for sale and selling. some people like to keep them for future, some try and make profit, and some like me just buy and use it and then sell it. ive bought this tool twice, first to just use it and i tried renting it out but its not a very large market for renting these tools, so i never had anyone interested. so i just sold it.
@hansbekverbauer sorry man your not all correct. when it comes to rim size it depends on rim width as well as wheel offset! even with my 38offset 17s dont remember how wide they where. but they still verly cleared even after rolling the fender lips almost flat.
now if its not lowered OR you are lowered but dont care about negative camber looking so bad then ya you dont have to roll the fender lips either, BUT if you want the wheels straight like they should be in alignment specs THEN YOU MUST DO
@addiction2bass well okay my fault then, i had 3 civics, 2 of themwere coupe models that where lowered, on both coupe models i had 17 inch rims, they did fit standartly without touching the fender in curves or bumps. but however in my comment i didnt take rim width into acount. sorry
@xXWeltchXx approximately 300 dollars for the fender rolling tool, and to rent it for a day its usually 50 dollars... or have it done for you for 80 dollars per side (usually you just do your rear 2 fenders cuz the fronts are normally factory rolled) so 300 dollars to buy, 50 to rent, 160 to have it done for you... just rent it and do urself.
@junglemage666 yep abotu right. think mine was like 250bucks tho for the standard kit. now its more if you have a large vehicle and wheel arch like with trucks.
i just bought mine used, used it and then slapped it back on ebay and got most of my money back. mainly just lose shipping costs if you get a good deal on it used. typically like 180-200bucks used. and used means nothing for these tools ;)
@addiction2bass not true, used can be bad, think bout it, if the tool has been used like a 5 dollar hooker in a cracked down neighborhood, you will notice the roller skate part of it might get warped and could actually become a bit sharp and rape your paint job, doesnt matter how much heat you apply to the paint. But ya generally it should be okay, but you paid like what 200 bucks for it and prolly 40 for shipping, coulda just rented for 10 more and not worry bout sellin again
@junglemage666 the tool is just a roller wheel you cannt damage it that much to hurt the vehicle. but trust me a rented roller is gonna get rapped more than a used one will. a used one will have been used a few times, a rented one will be used ALOT MORE with people that really dont care!
but if your roller wheel is chewed up really bad its nothing more than a sanding disc or bench grinder. when someones going to resell it they tend to be more carefull with it so its as good as new. shipping 25
When your rolling fenders, can you not reach all the way to the bottom of the fenders? I see some just do the top and some on the sides. Can you not go all the way down on each side of the fender?
@OnaBoat2007 you dont have to do the sides. i did alittle bit its not needed. the tire only moves at the top between 10 and 2 like your hands on your steering wheel ;) anything else is just cosmetic.
@addiction2bass LIES!!! I have a Mazda 6 with 225/p40/18 wheels, and its rubbing against the sides, its actually cutting into my tire when i go over bumps, and sounds very loud when it does it. I need to roll the sides, never bothered to last time when i had 215/P40/18 but now it hits with 225/P40/18, therefore it matters... roll the sides... 10 and 2 my ass lol
why would you put 17's on a honda? the bigger the rim the worse your acceleration is, granted, your top speed gets higher because of "rolling rate", bigger rims may roll better and give you more top speed but all in all your acceleration will drop. I'll stick with 14's and 15's......
@MrCrunchyEGGROLL yes i did use the heat gun when i started. heating it didnt make to much of a difference when i did mine BUT it was a hot sunny day out and my car was outside so that probably helped mine alot. i rolled my other civics fenders really quickly and it did flake off some paint, but the car was repainted crappily before i got it so that might have been more of a reason why it flaked when rolling.
o please... civics very nice if kept clean like i did. best thing about the civic was MPG. 30+mpg compared to my trucks 15mpg i drive now.... wish i still had this civic. :(
i did use the heat gun before i started. but not constantly heating the metal. your paint is going to crack no matter what! factory baked paint doesnt want to flex that much!
what do you the plastic lining on the inside of the fender you still get to keep it or you go to throw it out. cuz i got screws right on the lip of the fender...the part you put the roller on. so when i roll them in how will i be able to screw the plastic lining back on
well i had several. first setup was Tein Stech springs on some blue struts, and my second setup was on Koni yellows and ground controls adjustable coilovers.
you can use a heat gun and a bat, to adjust the tightness just put a jack under the car and lift or lower as needed, no need to spend 200+ bucks on a fender roller, as long as you have patience and do it evenly you'll be good.
sure theirs alot of ways that CAN WORK but with the proper tool is the best way! thats why the tool was made and why it sells so well... hell it keeps its value.... buy the tool use it, and then resale it. only thing youll loose it shipping costs.
search ebay theres no fender rolling kits on there with a bat and heat gun.LOL
that is posible but i had no chipping problems even with only minor heating. but then again i bet the summer heat helped also ;)
my worst problem was the little bit of bondo i found on the inside lip of the other side..... someone repaired the inner lip slightly and when i was rolling the lip the bondo busted off, luckely it was just on the inner lip and that was no problem. i just touched up the paint alittle bit when i was done in that area.
The problem with that is you can crink your fender and or chip the paint. With a heat gun and the fender roller tool its done correctly and looks nice!
thanks. tho my 96dx will MOST LIKELY get all the cool black 99EX parts by next spring! first next big step is paint for it. if definatly gonna take the 96dx even further!
cheapest place.... ebay. they have new and used ones on there almost all the time. just search for "fender roller". you can get them slightly cheaper used, use it and then slap it back on ebay and get all your money back minus shiping costs. i kept mine tho. last time i sold it but i need it again for another vehicle so this time i decided to just keep it.
The pros use a heat gun aswell, otherwise there is a great chance that you will crack your paint when you bend the lip. The heat gun warms the paint so cracks are less likely.
true. i used the heat gun before i started rolling the fenders, i just didnt video tape that... tho it didnt seem to help much, the paint still spider webed where it was rolled on the back side. it didnt flake off like the other rolling videos with the pipe and hammer.LOL i still touched up the paint with some simple touch up paint and brush all around the areas to prevent rusting. you cannt see t hose areas and its still rust free.
not really. if i jacked the suspension up then the tool would be to far up. i was only rolling the inner lip. and at first the lip is actually pointing downward towards the center middle of the car. to roll that part upwards it had to be down like that! after you roll the lip so much upwards you adjust the angle of the roller and pressure and keep going. it worked great for my 2inch drop, but i need to roll it more for my slammed setup and proper camber. i didn't completely roll it at first.
in the front depends how low you are... i just had to hit the mounting tabs with a small hammer a few times to bent the small tabs up in a bit and it worked for my fronts.
but if your talking about the rear rubber guard thing on the fenders then you should pull that rubber trim off! its just like a I "U" shaped seal that goes over the inside of the lip, and after thats removed then you can roll the rear fender lips just fine.
I have BMW e30 and i was "BORBET a" rims on it and i need to fender roll my car because the rims are so wide, will the paint go off? the car is 1989 model with the orginal paint :(
just as long as you heat up the paint before and during rolling the fenders it shouldn't chip off. BUT after rolling the inner lip it doesn't hurt to use some touch up paint around the paint that cracks. no way around a little cracking. but its nothing to really worry about.
nope not at all. i was going kinda slow since it was my first fender lip i have ever done. i probably could have gone faster BUT when bending metal you want to bend it slowly defiantly when painted.
takes about 10-20mins tops for each fender.
well worth the time and money to save your tires from getting cut from the fender lips.
nope no painting needed... use the heat gun and the paint SHOULDNT flake off like the ghetto hammer/pipe way. BUT WARNING. if the cars to old or been in wrecks or ever repainted THIER COULD BE BONDO around the wheel arch.
i had a SMALL area on one side that had been bondoed on the inner lip but the repaired area was small. most likely from a blow out and some retard driving on it and the rubber slaped it around and painter used some bondo to smooth it out. so i did have to use some sandpaper to smooth out the cracked bondo and just used alittle spray paint to touch it up on the inside of the lip. VERY MINOR BUT if thiers been to much repair IT CAN TURN UGLY VERY FAST! just a bit of warning.
ya no problem..... its realy easy to do yourself just take your time! awhole lot cheaper than new tires.LOL i bought the tool off ebay NEW... used it and then put it back on ebay and only lost about 50bucks in the end which is alot beter than some people that SO CALL RENT the tool out that will screw ya over with a deposit twice the cost of the tool. BS
ZERO offset.... thats gotta be MASSIVE mexican than....
or your mistaken.... the more offset plus or negative is where the bolt plate it located acording to the outter rim. like mine my old rims where 38mm offset and they stuck out more... my new 42mm offset rims tuck quite nicely!
Its because your front wheel drive, +42 is sunken battleship status in my car. My friend has -17 offset 18 inch wheels on his car, these are on a 240sx.
well i did use it... ;) sorry forgot to add that in description... but i did use it. but it doesnt help awhole lot.... cause i still had some paint seem to kinda spinder web effect in the paint. nothing bad tho.
not when you get wider tires... 17inch rims 7inch wide tires, compared to STOCK 14s 5.5inches wide.
my Enkei - FN-18 offset is 42mm. which is the BEST offset you can get for my civic in my opinion. tucks VERY NICELY! check out my other video of them driving.
LOL maybe painfull but its that easy! or if you wanna watch that japanese fender rolling DIY. which is definatly the more GHETTO WAY of rolling your fenders! BUT this is a ruffly 250dollar tool. and now my tires clear completly at full suspension travel! and i have Stech springs so the suspension moves ALOT!
good job and good music yeahhhhhhhhh

if you jacked up the axle you would get the center of radius more correct to match the curve , you are too low
hearttobefelt 3 years ago
not really. if i jacked the suspension up then the tool would be to far up. i was only rolling the inner lip. and at first the lip is actually pointing downward towards the center middle of the car. to roll that part upwards it had to be down like that! after you roll the lip so much upwards you adjust the angle of the roller and pressure and keep going. it worked great for my 2inch drop, but i need to roll it more for my slammed setup and proper camber. i didn't completely roll it at first.

what did you do for the cover underneath the fender??
the 92-95, the waterguard thingy is screwed to the fenders.. =X
ikyoungbumi 4 years ago
in the front depends how low you are... i just had to hit the mounting tabs with a small hammer a few times to bent the small tabs up in a bit and it worked for my fronts.
but if your talking about the rear rubber guard thing on the fenders then you should pull that rubber trim off! its just like a I "U" shaped seal that goes over the inside of the lip, and after thats removed then you can roll the rear fender lips just fine.

I have BMW e30 and i was "BORBET a" rims on it and i need to fender roll my car because the rims are so wide, will the paint go off? the car is 1989 model with the orginal paint :(
hothardware 4 years ago
just as long as you heat up the paint before and during rolling the fenders it shouldn't chip off. BUT after rolling the inner lip it doesn't hurt to use some touch up paint around the paint that cracks. no way around a little cracking. but its nothing to really worry about.
addiction2bass 4 years ago
ok thanks :P i will try that :)
hothardware 4 years ago
that must take forever.
soultronx10 4 years ago
nope not at all. i was going kinda slow since it was my first fender lip i have ever done. i probably could have gone faster BUT when bending metal you want to bend it slowly defiantly when painted.
takes about 10-20mins tops for each fender.
well worth the time and money to save your tires from getting cut from the fender lips.

Hi, after this its need to repaint?
thanks
timorelo 4 years ago
nope no painting needed... use the heat gun and the paint SHOULDNT flake off like the ghetto hammer/pipe way. BUT WARNING. if the cars to old or been in wrecks or ever repainted THIER COULD BE BONDO around the wheel arch.
addiction2bass 4 years ago
i had a SMALL area on one side that had been bondoed on the inner lip but the repaired area was small. most likely from a blow out and some retard driving on it and the rubber slaped it around and painter used some bondo to smooth it out. so i did have to use some sandpaper to smooth out the cracked bondo and just used alittle spray paint to touch it up on the inside of the lip. VERY MINOR BUT if thiers been to much repair IT CAN TURN UGLY VERY FAST! just a bit of warning.

wow 42 offset, my rims have 0 offset.
ProjektS13 4 years ago
ZERO offset.... thats gotta be MASSIVE mexican than....
or your mistaken.... the more offset plus or negative is where the bolt plate it located acording to the outter rim. like mine my old rims where 38mm offset and they stuck out more... my new 42mm offset rims tuck quite nicely!
addiction2bass 4 years ago
Its because your front wheel drive, +42 is sunken battleship status in my car. My friend has -17 offset 18 inch wheels on his car, these are on a 240sx.
ProjektS13 4 years ago
wow u dont know much, different offsets suit different cars...
nwmrkt 4 years ago
That's because you covered to much area with the roller without keeping the paint and metal warm.
Search for "rolling the 8's fenders".
altspace1 4 years ago
You forgot to use a heatgun.
altspace1 4 years ago
well i did use it... ;) sorry forgot to add that in description... but i did use it. but it doesnt help awhole lot.... cause i still had some paint seem to kinda spinder web effect in the paint. nothing bad tho.
addiction2bass 4 years ago
how bout maybe getting the CORRECT offset of the rims???? so u rent out this tool in houston?
kleptodathief 4 years ago
not when you get wider tires... 17inch rims 7inch wide tires, compared to STOCK 14s 5.5inches wide.
my Enkei - FN-18 offset is 42mm. which is the BEST offset you can get for my civic in my opinion. tucks VERY NICELY! check out my other video of them driving.
addiction2bass 4 years ago
god dam it was painful watching that LOL
kleptodathief 4 years ago
LOL maybe painfull but its that easy! or if you wanna watch that japanese fender rolling DIY. which is definatly the more GHETTO WAY of rolling your fenders! BUT this is a ruffly 250dollar tool. and now my tires clear completly at full suspension travel! and i have Stech springs so the suspension moves ALOT!
