Has anyone else heard? One of the people in charge of this site died at age 22 and no details will be released. I always had/heard of crazy theory(ies) that the government or Illuminati invented Facebook to track people, which sounds a bit far fetched, but after seeing The Social Network movie about how Facebook was made (like theyre making sure everyone knows the story), and now the creator of a site that can rival Facebook dies with no details being released, I cant help but wonder. Hmm....
@125sonicboom i dont see anything far-fetched about your comment!i just read the same shit as soon as i got on!Facebook IS a way to track ppl.by posting pics and info about your life, they will know your face, where you live, and who your friends and family are!Diaspora was anti-Facebook from what i read, and is(was)the only prospect to give Facebook any kind of competition!.....doesnt take a genius to figure out WTF's going on here!
@REBORN122812 Thank you! Glad people are being open minded enough to consider this, a lot of people would instantly say its just crazy. I also read the anti-FB thing on Yahoo! And I read something somewhere that said FB tracks all the accounts with amazing acuracy (on a site called Abovetopsecret it may not be true). This is a brilliant concept: making privacy uncool so we willingly give all our info to strangers. Its making the victims play against each other without even realizing it.
@125sonicboom thats one of the main reasons why i dont bother w/Facebook!i just watched another vid about this that was uploaded 2-3hrs ago.a guy is reading about this from his computer, but he states that they're calling it a "suicide"(imagine that!)and that Diaspora was going to work WITH Facebook!2 contradictory stories?you should check it out!
@REBORN122812 I used to have a Facebook. Not anymore. Really? A suicide?! What do you mean theyre working with Facebook?! Haha what a coincidence! This is really interesting Im looking into this. You know maybe we shouldnt be posting these comments all over the internet for them to see? 0_0
@125sonicboom i dont care ill post whatever, whenever, wherever!"they" dont scare me!if i find something out that ppl should know, then im going to tell them!im gonna speak my mind until i draw my last breath!if they think there gonna feed off fear around my way, then they'll starve 2 death!take care bro,and ALWAYS search for the truth!!!
@REBORN122812 Normally I woudnt either. I dont really have anything to hide (as far as anyone knows :P), but considering that guy with Diaspora turned up dead Im a little intimadated 0_0. I agree its worth telling people. What are they going to do, kill everyone XD? Same to you my freind. Always search for truth.
diaspora was obviously bought out. christ, if that's what they're touting as the top features and acting big about it they're obviously hiding something.
I'm still waiting for my invitation to diaspora!!! Have been waiting for over a year!... If they don't open soon, I'll go for sure on Unthink.com instead!
Diaspora has already failed. Try MyCube... much more interesting and promising. Diaspora one year on has nothing to offer... just shite, sorry. As the person below said: NEXT!
you can't stop facebook. open source and free-sounds cool, but not for many people. facebook has some bad rumors, but that's the way to get bigger attention and popularity
facebook has a lot of money and they can always promote it in every way they want, they can't die even if they try. they are very innovative and they are also a selling company, that's something that people like
think of windows and linux as rivals. big rumors but nothing changed
It's a brilliant concept, and I really hope they will make it. They had an awesome kickstart last summer, and they've been working hard for a year now. Still a lot of ground to cover, but it's possible they'll make it.
There are already servers that offer an account diasp.org for instance, so alpha testing is possible already today.
the idea is good, but they have a big problems with the implementation of it. diaspora trying to recreate the original structure of the network, destroyed by the facebook . I wish them luck. I'm skeptical, because facebook's hegemony is staggering ... :(
@weekofhorror Because they know it's dangerous. However, you can host your Diaspora seed yourself. So what would you prefer? Spreading data over Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, etc? Or having all the stuff right in a box under your bed? ;)
RTR.ORG does basically the same thing, but it's motivation is not to take over facebook, it's motivation is to stop the shadow government from turning the world into slaves by restoring the republic to the united states, and yes it is a REPUBLIC NOT DEMOCRACY, as We are a Public who elect people to represent us = REPUBLIC. Democracy = the process used to elect our representatives. If you believe in inalienble rights & that you can be responsible for yourself visit rtr.org / + signup? ref=28062
Diaspora sounded promising but I have tried it out and it has many issues. I am now waiting for MyCube to launch and am hoping it can restore privacy to social media
I like the idea of diaspora. one issue I have is does every user have to have their own server? or will both yahoo and google be able to make their own services which I could choose to join.
@veggiet2009 I believe the Diaspora team will offer a server themselves to register, but I'm sure there will be other places as well. So no, you don't have to host your own server, if you don't want to :) Especially since it's open source.
