This song was on a compilation album. On that album was another song called "Strange Things are Happening". Does anyone know the title of this comp album?
From recollection the album was called something like "The 49 Minute Technicolour Dream" and was released by the Bam Caruso label. Great album. I played it to death when it came out (1982-ish?), and am still a huge fan of band I first heard on it...
If you search Strange Things on youtube, you'll find that song on a vid twinned with one by Jason Crest. The band you're looking for is Rings and Things.
This is the most psychedelically visual song. I had a kindness cake once; then tend to be a bit dry!
