As an army chopper pilot candidate who washed out at 7 months in '64 at Ft Rucker, Alabama, I still love choppers esp. this movie by the director who did "Saturday Night Fever", the disco classic in '77, believe it or not. Getting persmission to film in LA was amazing--"Heat" with Al Pacino and DeNiro was another downtown LA flick in '95, with only weekends to work.
Yay! Took me a long while to track down the LP version of the score back in '96, even longer for the CD eleven year later. It's a guilty pleasure to throw on the noise-reduction headphones and listen to BT =)
Ooooh - I gotta say it again! Rubinstein's scores are so haunting and thrilling, the spine can't help but tingle, and the skin is helpless against goosebumps!
Yeah, I will miss Roy. While this movie is full of corn and cheese, it's great entertainment. Same goes for JAWS, but he should have stayed out of the sequels.
This is one of the best chase scenes ever. And it's for the reason you mentioned. No CGI stuff, no models. The real helicopters flying down the real LA river.
However unlike Alex Jones who wages war on the state Non-Violently, Murphy wages war against the Govt with the very machine the Govt will use to on free American Citizens and wins! Moral of this film in the end is Freedom and Justice wins in the end against evil.
This is a great movie that is a warning for a future America. A conspiracy by an evil group to turn US into a police state by using the Military Industrial Complex to wage war against free American citizens. I think every Alex Jones fan should watch this film. Frank Murphy is your more switched on American, a police officer with a conscience, an Alex Jones like character exposing the evil plan of this group.
That' deeply saddening to hear about the passing of Roy Scheider, he never looked a day older since I first saw JAWS in a darkened cinema back in 1975.
Wow is this a new DVD version with isolated Dolby six-track score?
Thank you to everyone who has left a comment. Roy Scheider was a wonderful actor who made incredibly exciting movies, and I love to share Arthur B's music with everyone as well.
To answer your question, an isolated score track was not included on the new DVD. This video was made for the composer's site which will have a new look celebrating the release of WarGames.
My very favourite: Chopper, Actor, Movie and Theme Music! How I wish they could make a sequel today!!!!!! aaaagh! ;-P

i think the chopper dogfight scenes in this movie are best in a chopper movie history. Even in A-team 2010, the chopper scene is clearly fake.

This is an all-time classic. Like the '70s' Rollerball, this is an anti-fascism action movie with another faultless turn by Roy Scheider RIP.
First saw this in Christmas '88 when I was 9.

Would have been a sight to see these 2 helicopters barreling down them. Looks great on film, but would have awesome to see in person.
