nice lock-outs bro. even that 425 looked to damn easy for you! you might as well of threw 450 on ahahaha. but are those dumbells good? (the ones u add olympic plates to) im thinking about asking for sum for christmas. i just dont wanna get junk lol. keep the hard work up bro!
They aren't that bad...they can be hard on the ego though...
If you are used to lifting gym dumbells that are nice and easy to get into place and press, you will have to go a little lighter with these dumbells. But you won't be able to bounce and limbo with them, so they might be just what you need bro! Ha, ha...
nice job the 425 should train ur central nervous system for the bigger weight however i like board presses more to train this either way u look great!
Nice work bro, do you always train without a partner? I've been off the weights for about 3 years and used to bench about 365 max. Im getting too weak and skinny. Your vid is giving me some inspiration. Time to hit those basics again. Cheers
To me, it makes most sense to do lock-outs just after your sticking point; where you are much stronger than your full bench. For wider-grip benchers, that's lower down than for closer-grip benchers who tend to have a good explosive bottom with their sticking point somewhere at midpoint. Play around with it and see what works for you. Follow your natural strength curve...
Great job with the lockout,it looked easy! That's weird you're still sore from dumbells. You usually heal up quick between workouts.....Haha you're getting like me,where it takes a week to recover from my workouts. But then again dumbells are very similar to bench press and that last session with the 161's was like a max. Then add in the max attempts on bench press and you might be a little burned out on low reps and maxing....just a thought?
Thanks Mark. 425 lbs felt good and I think I can 430 lbs. I think I am sore from a combination of things: the 370 x 2 plus the 161 lb dumbells, then I had a basketball game on Sunday night, and all the low reps I have been doing. I'll give it a couple of days and see how I feel...
My next bball game is Sunday, so I have some time. I am not playing volleyball this year, so I think I should still be able to progress nicely playing just basketball. We'll see though...
I did. I just didn't feel like putting it on this vid because it was a painfully slow rep and it wasn't a PR of any kind. The main reason for this vid was to show my PR on the 5" lock-out from chest level. 425 lbs felt reasonably easy and I think I can get more. We'll see though...
Nice work

Thanks bro - hopefully there is more to come on that front.
Yeah, those dumbells are good for going heavy. They are just awkward to work with at times. But they do the job.
BRETZERR 2 years ago
no those dumbells suck, they are way to awkward. i can do around 120s each hand on gym dumbells, but struggle with 105s on mine. they suck dicks

lol i didnt get them anyways bro =] i saved my cash so i can eventually get more 45's

is there like, a set inches from the chest that people use for lockouts?

Strong Randy. Next time I do barbell bench i'm gonna try the lock reps and see how I do. I'm buying the 150lbs dumbbells bars this week.

Nice Andrew...looking forward to seeing you toss around those 150's! Thanks...

Nice work randy, I think next workout you should go for 390, I think you are ready, maybe rest up 3-5 days then give it a go.

You probably did, but there is always some knucklehead that seems to give me a 1-star on my vid's. I find it funny...
I wasn't meaning you bro. I didn't think you are that cruel! Ha, ha
