  • Another lost gem of the '80's.

  • Cool Jam!!!!!!!

  • Boom bang!!

  • One of those I remember that song moments.

  • YES!

  • ONLY 123 likes?! It deserves AT LEAST 20,000!

  • It is sad todays kids havent heard this music my daughter is 14 and now she keeps wanting to hear more. She is like WOW !!! We need to bring this music back. I dont like the phrase OLD SCHOOL im 46 and refuse that phrase. That is music BABY!!!

  • OH SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Margaret Cox and the Seen hit #24 in Billboard, 1-18-86. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a great week!

  • sounds like a "vanity 6" track reject-----

  • @discovery781 but this was a hit record back in 1985

  • @enmaxus it was a minor hit if i recall

  • @discovery781 Yep, definitely. Same camp, same campers.

  • Ah! another great song from the eighties!

  • Love this song! Always reminds me of high school.

  • this song sounds very jesse johnson-ish to me because he was one of the writers & producers of this album.

  • I remember this song. lol Correct, me if I am wrong but didn't the white guy from Prince's group start or produce a group called the "THE FAmily?" They had a one hit wonder but I can't remember the name of the song. I know they had a video out.

  • @StangoDango PRINCE ACTUALLY STARTED THE GROUP. THE LEAD SINGER WAS ST. PAUL. PRINCE AND MORRIS DAY AUDITIONED HIM FOR THE TIME AFTER TERRY LEWIS AND JIMMY JAM HARRIS WERE FIRED FOR NOT ARRIVING ON THE TOUR ON TIME BECAUSE THEY WERE PRODUCING THE S.O.S BAND WITHOUT PRINCE'S PERMISSION. PRINCE THEN COMBINED JEROME BENTON, SUSANNAH MELVOIN (WENDY'S SISTER WHOM HE WAS DATING AT THE TIME) AND ST. PAUL TOGETHER TO FORM "THE FAMILY" THE SONG WAS CALLED "SCREAMS OF PASSION" AND "HIGH FASHION"

  • @djhouse40 SOMETHING LIKE THAT,BUT 90%right

  • I totally remember this song, those were the days!

  • This sounds very Prince-ish and Timex Social Clubbish, even Appollonia-ish and Tina Marie-ish but of course! It was in that same era!

  • WOW! You have the RARELY found 45 with the jungle drums at the beginning! The most-found version does NOT! This was Prince's girlfriend back then!

  • I think she sang with a group called The T.C. JAMMERS

  • This groove was like a cross between Jesse's 'Be your Man' and Madonna's 'Like a Virgin'. Beatbiting for sure, but still groovalicious...

  • My uncle is the bassist!! Haha Jheri Curls!!

*Keith Woodson* Most Hated Ent. Producer!

  • Man this was the joint!

  • Jesse is the best he killed it at the Flamingo Las Vegas it was the first show with the real Time line up. It was great to see Jesse Jimmy and Terry back with the Time. Get the Can you help me 12 inch it has Free World on the B side now go get your Jesse on.

  • this sounds like a jesse johnson production. that keyboard line is the same one in his song "I Wanna Be Your Man"

  • @HypeRhymz Didn't he also have a song called "I Want My Girl"?

  • @shmuli9 i think so

  • For being a KIIS FM Song It is not a bad song. Total 80's

    Good Listing

  • finally found it. great song. anybody got suggestions of great songs from this era. of course old school and this.

  • this goes good with the fly by wreakin crew or freakoholic by egypt

    DJLOUSINCE82

  • The guitarist, Oliver Lieber, is the son of Jerry Lieber of the songwriting duo, Lieber & Stoller.

  • one of my favs

  • I hear a real similar beat to The Time's Jungle Love! Thought that sounded familiar. Love those really funky keyboard sounds of the 80's - when synthesizers just made electronic noise and weren't altering every artists voice so they all sound like robots...

  • jesse rocks it on the guitar !

  • I swear they played this song every morning while I was getting ready for work. I was 20 at the time and I just signed up to join the Navy. The 80's had great music. What great memories of when I didnt have care in the world.

  • The members of this group.....

    lead vocals-Ta Mara

    bass,vacals-Keith Woodson

    keyboards,vocals-Gina Fellicetta

    drums,vocals-Jamie Chez

    guitrs,vocals-Oliver Leiber

  • Love this jam.

  • Miss this Jesse Johnson sound

  • @kcoolmuziq me too

  • Classic Jesse Johnson

    Love the guitar solo

  • Hit##3 soul, #24 pop in Billboard. Ta Mara's birth name is Margaret Cox. God bless!

  • Anyone know who was in the band for this recording?

  • @TheDocSanchez Yeah, Ollie Liberman's son played keyboards but Jesse Johnson was the mastermind behind this song & group! I bought this cassette tape back in 1985!

  • cool song

  • Hey, king1969100, do ya really need to cuss to get your point across? Anyway, I've got a copy of Joel's Whitburn's book, Billboard Hot 100 charts, the 80s, with reproductions of all those charts, so I looked up 'Eveybody dance' and, voila, it peaked at #24 on the hot 100. God bless!

  • Hit #24 in Billboard. 1 hit wonder.

  • What did you have to look that up? Kick ass song.

  • That Minneapolis sound

  • The days of hair crimpping, ripped jeans, high top converse shoes, and music like this were awsome. The 80's rule.

  • WOOOOO! This is my sooong! Makes me wanna take this CD, put it in my system in my Range Rover and blaaast it uuuuup on ah weekend! w/ all my homegirls ofc..lolz! -turns this beat up LOUDER-

  • @missNYCmodel You HAVE a CD of this?!!!? -YOU RULE!!!

  • Did they ever make a proper video for this song? I still have my cassette of this that I bought new! It still works perfect!

  • Still a cool song after all these years.

  • puro sonido ochentero

  • I have not heard this song since 1986.

    The guitar is smoking.

  • the standard minneapolis 80s sound.

  • I so LOVE this song!!!!

  • Jesse basically took the Prince sound as heard via The TIme & Vanity 6 & augmented it with the same production style & music techniques that he used on his own albums. That's Y this sounds exactly like his solo albums...Third generation Prince that was the absolute BOMB SH*T back in the day when errybody was doing the Minneapolis sound thing!!!

  • You Tube is the ultimate portal. I haven't heard this song since about 1989 when I was living in Los Angeles. Pure 80s with the keyboard driven sound and the poofy hair of Ms. Cox. Still an enjoyable romp back to the past of good days and late rent payments.

  • @Dietpepsivanilla - Was THIS Margret Cox? I saw her at in Mineapolis in 89 and she kicked ASS!!! Is this her under a different name?! Yikes, I feel stupid for not knowing if that is the case...please let me know either way, if you know. I'm walking down memory lane and enjoying it immensely!!!

  • So I'm told. Don't feel stupid as a lot of people didn't know it. Yes, it is enjoyable at times. I wish the early 80s were back. Then I would have been and stayed with someone else.

  • I have been looking for this jam for years! I found it on here a few months ago, but it was the soundtrack to some obese guy dancing in a fetish video. Ugh!

  • I actually have MOST of the

TA MARA & THE SEEN debut LP loaded on my link .......

AND am currently loading tracks from

    BLUEBERRY GOSSIP ( 2nd album )

CLICK ON THE LINK & ENJOY !!!!!!!!!!

  • ..... ( clap , clap ) ........ Good for you ...... Most don't know there were "others" that just didn't get the INK ON THE CONTRACTS & blew up like the ones they know ....... Whatever you did to make the sound then come alive - my hat off to you MARKO .......

  • TY a very nice thing to say, ty for taking the time to look me up.

  • Used to lay in bed at night and dance to this. That Minneapolis sound was so dominant back then.I love this stuff!

  • Of course it sounds like Prince, who wrote and performed all of the first The Time cuts. Tamara and the Seen was a Jessi Johnson (The Time) package. The drums and snth style are different than Prince. Listen to the original "Kiss" by Mazarati. They reworked a throw away song by Prince and he repossed it and released it as a hit for himself. What a guy!

  • WOW ...... sounds like a quote from ME !!!!

  • Ms. Cox at the vocals. Babe!!!!

  • Sounds so much like a Sheila E. ,Morris Day, Prince influence...great tune!!!!!

  • When this track was on radio in 1985. I thought it had to be Sheila E. The same Minneapolis sound though.

  • makes me want to put on my polo shirt,

penny loafers and jeans and DANCE

  • God. I haven't heards this song in ages. Not to mention it was hard to find the correct name to this artist.

    Thanks

  • i just shit when i hear this because i use to cover it and i can play guitar

  • WOW! What a blast from the past!!! I was just a kid when this came out. I remember I really loved this song and thought about it many times over the years but all I could remember was the "oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, everybody dance. Did a google search and found the name. Thanks so much for posting.

  • I loved this and "Affection" by them and then it seemed like they just disappeared. They were jamming and I'm SOOOOOOO glad YouTube has the jams because the stuff on radio now .... just not happening.

  • Wow! I remember this album and had a poster signed by her when she visited a dance club in Fremont(CA). Forgot the name of the place but she was so hot!

  • Thanks, Rich, I appreciate the info. I'll see if I can find some more of his axe work like this; I hope so!

  • Anybody out there know who did the guitar solos on this?

  • His name is Jesse Johnson. Former lead guitarist for The Time and one of the top 5 guitarist ever born. Prince is my boy, but he ain't never had nothing on Jesse!!

  • Back in '86, Ta Mara once mentioned in a interview that Prince gave Jesse a real hard time when it came to putting out records..

  • I remember I opened up a Halloween party in 84with this song and the whole house was bouncing. Everybody was jumping up and down. They still talk about it today.

  • Correction. You mean 1985

  • I declare an "80's revival"!!! I so miss this era of music. I TOTALLY forgot about this hit. Prince was GENIUS with his huge roster of artists. This was yet another hot group of the 80's. Love it :).

  • Wow! This is goin' WAY back!

  • This is the cut!!! They don't make music like this anymore. Thanks for sharing :0)

  • I was 13 when this came out. My mom had this album and she would dance with me and my little sister. The good ole days.

  • This tune was played like crazy at the high school dances back in the day.

  • its funny because i love this minneapolis sound and prince was huge, but these other minneapolis songs were never really played on the UK scene

  • WOW!!! I almost forgot this song!! MAN I LOVE THIS TUNE -- god, I want the 80's back SO BAD!!! Somebody make it happen again -- WE NEED IT!

Thank you SO MUCH for posting!!!! :-)

  • I always thought that Ta Mara and the Seen were one of the most underrated groups under the Prince "umbrella". This was a killer dance hit when it came out in late 1985.

  • Omigosh! I Can't believe someone still has this. Love You!!!!

  • I NOW HAVE THIS SONG LISTED ALSO ..... THE FULL ALBUM VERSION ( almost 6 minutes long ) ...... CLICK ON MY LINK TO HEAR ALONG WITH OTHER TRACKS FROM THE ALBUM....... MUCH LUV YOUTUBE .... I'M OUT !!!!!!!

  • Hell yea, this was the jam back in the days.. cruisin the mini, breakdancing, poppin, pop lockin, till this day i still spin this jam on the tables ...everyone goes crazy when i throw it in the mix

  • Damn , I used to mix this up with Jessie Johnson - can you help me ,The Time, and various Prince jams .:)

  • Oh yeah, "can u help me, can u really help me?" That was music!

  • She (Margaret Cox) is a veteran vocalist in the Twin Cities. Jesse Johnson may have produced this, but Twin Cities music fans have been groovin' to her singing since the late 70's. She sang backup for Doug Maynard. She can be seen Monday nights with Dr. Mambo's combo at the Bunker in Minneapolis.

  • Thanks for the updates. The Bunker is the hot spot in MPLS.

  • I realy love that song !!

but i think it's the same melody as "Borrowed love" of S.O.S BAnd !!!

  • good ear!!!

  • Wow!!! I remember this song bangin on all of the black radio stations back in the day. This was a good jam!!!!!

  • Loved this song! Jesse Johnson, thanks for discovering her!

  • I always loved the beat of this song. That's the 80's for ya!

  • come on, everybody dance!

  • Thanks a million!! Man, this song will never get old.
